I am sad that Brennan was hurt, but I kept thinking about how Rent is all about different people with different struggles coming together and the ONE thing they did have was a person with a disability....sorta. Like-Roger with a wheelchair is such an interesting dynamic to me and I was re-writing the story in my head with that kind of character. Like-does he have AIDS still? Or is he in the wheelchair INSTEAD? Like-what about their loft? I don’t think there’s an elevator? Maureen says she and Joanne couldn’t get Mimi up the stairs so like-how would that work with his wheelchair? Or when he sells his guitar for a car and drives to Santa Fe and back? Or when he’s with Mimi?! LIKE WHAT IF GUYS?!
Airing the dress rehearsal footage was honestly just disrespectful both to the fans and the actors. They had no idea the performance they've worked so hard for wouldn't even get aired, and all we got to see was a subpar dress rehearsal. I think most of us would rather have just watched a live version with Roger in a wheelchair or crutches.
😒 It wasn't a "dress rehearsal". It was a backup for them to air in case something happened...which it did. I don't understand why people think television is the same thing as doing a show on stage.... It's not.
I must be the only person who actually enjoyed the dress rehearsal, there was so much said about the actors not singing to their full potential but only one who I thought struggled was Valentina and I don't even think it was because she was saving her voice...there were some excellent performances (Vanessa, Tinashe, Jordan and Brennin were great)...and people who say it could have been aired with Roger in the wheel chair should consider that the whole performance took place on a circle stage and it probably took 3+ month to figure out and rehears the choreography to make sure all the actors and 5 cameras (I'm guessing) don't get into each others views ...nevertheless I would definitely love seeing it Live
This version of RENT is actually the first time I have enjoyed the show. Lived in New York when it first hit the stage, but didn't go, I didn't enjoy the movie, but this stage production blew me away. I think it is the casting that did it..................OK, so I just watched the movie again and have gained a greater appreciation for it. Well done.

I dont understand why they had to skip all the scenes? Roger isnt in all the scenes.. you could just have played the rest of the scenes without the one legged guy.. such a shame for the beautiful set design not getting its full glory whilst the actors just sitting on shabby plastic chairs

How were they not prepared for this? People getting hurt or sick before a show is not uncommon. What would've happened had he broken his foot during the actual live show? Amateur mistake by not having understudies. Even high school productions have understudies.

why couldn't they perform the parts of the show roger wasn't in? He wasn't in every song, and most of the performances roger is in does not involve a lot of movement, except some of the group numbers which could have been done without him. He has only a couple lines in la vie boheme. It was such a large group number, i think you'd barely know he was missing. I feel like they could've salvaged it a little, but it seemed like they just completely gave up.

When we finished “What You Own,” when we climbed the ladders, Jordan [Fisher, who played Mark] and I had to run, all the way through that commercial break, downstage, across the scaffolding and down two flights of stairs to do our quick change for the finale. And we made it down one flight and we came around the next flight, and I was jumping off that last step to make a left, and my right foot just rolled over, and I snapped a bone in the arch of my foot. And I immediately dropped and was in a lot of pain, and I knew it wasn’t good because even with my in-ear monitors I could hear it snap. But I was just telling myself, “It’s not broken; it’s just a sprain; I’ll be back tomorrow! I can kinda relate to him breaking his foot and thinking it was just sprained. My son, husband (fiance at the time) and I were walking across the street to the courthouse. I fell and broke my foot a few minute before getting married. We went through with the wedding because I thought I had only sprained it. I learned that day that it is not a good idea for me to wear heels.
Yeah we got to see a lot. However we didn't get to see anything at main stage so we didn't get to see any of the original cast that was supposedly there. We only saw that on the TVs they had
