Welcome to episode 140 of the Golf Show.
In this episode Paul visits Scottsdale Golf's Fit, Build and Play centre in Warrington, UK for a putter fitting like no other!
Under the watchful eye of Master Fitter Liam, Paul tests his 2 Scotty Cameron flat-sticks that he has had for years and the results are incredible (but not in a good way...).
Liam analyses Paul's putting technique using the 28 point assessment on SAM PuttLab Technology.
He then recommends Paul tries the L.A.B. range of putters and the results are mind-blowing!
He tests the L.A.B MEZZ.1, the MEZZ.1 MAX and the enormous Directed Force 2.1, but will any of these find their way into Paul's bag?

I use the Direct Force 2.1 and love it. The laughter stops when you are consistently holing 12 footers !! Company was great to deal with.
Great review. I have had a Mezz1 putter for 4 months now. Was always a good putter and a good reader of putts but this is on another level. I’m holing putts from all over the place. 3 one putts yesterday and 5 one putts last Sunday.
It feels like I’m cheating.

I’ve had my LAB Golf DF2.1 since May. Played 16 rounds in September. 416 putts for the month. 26 putts per round and just two 3-putts. Last weekend, I had three 3-putts and a 4-putt, butt when the first putt 20’ passed…. The important thing is I haven’t felt like I mishit this putter at all. It took some getting used to and aim was initially off. But I don’t think I will ever game anything but a LAB putter.

Great stuff, tempted by the Mezz. Very scientific approach, the visual appeal of a putter has always been a big thing for me. I’ve got to like what I’m looking at. Hope it works for you!

It would have been interesting to have him putt with both current putters before giving results from the mallet. That could have given a more accurate measure and eliminated any (un)conscious adjustment made when putting the blade

I have the Link 1.Custom. Buddy got the Mezz. 2 others got the Link 1 in different variants. We all love ours and probably not switching.

You’re bigger issue is looking up too quickly as your putter is making contact, which opens up your shoulders, which pulls your hand path left, then pulling your putter head path left. So to make putts you’re having to open up your putter face angle. At a minimum, when you make contact, keep looking at the spot where the ball was sitting for at least 2 seconds after it’s off. For a start…

Cheers Kev. Unfortunately it’s a 4-5 week lead time due to configuration for my spec and sending from the US. The putting lab tech was insightful and helpful for the fitter, but at the end of the day I couldn’t argue with 9/10 Vs 2/10. Cant wait to get it. Prob another 3 weeks. Suspect there could be ANOTHER WITB episode on the channel soon 😂

Little concerned that you were not “fitted” for lie angle and length first - thought that was the whole reason for this make of putter !! Spending this amount of cash I would want to try this putter out on the course before I said yes

Had a fitting the other day and after a few putts was measured using a lab specific adjustable putter. It measured lie angle and length , after that I used a putter that was the correct angle but an inch longer in length but gripped down. Not sure why these guys didn’t do that as otherwise it’s a guess so where’s the fitting aspect 🤔

Q 4:38. Loosing 4 and a bit strokes per round off tee but putting is better than a scratch golfer....

These putters shocked me the first time i tried it. I had never seen one and thought wtf is this ugly thing, but one stroke and I knew it was going to be in my bag.

Which one? The DF sounds and feels pretty solid to me. Looks weird though so I got a Mezz Max. We'll see how it sounds with a Pro V1X.
