I‘m german, and I love french cars. I’ve got a Citroen DS, a SM and a CX. The Churchill is one of the most beautiful of all cars ever, an absolute perfect form, very english, hard to believe that this isn’t a factory car. It is a beauty equal to the Citroen DS (😉) the Alfa Duetto spider, the Alfa Giulia SS, the Mercedes 300 SL… an ABSOLUTE FORM. Congratulations!!! As someone mentioned copper colored windows and side trim I always saw the car in BMW ‚Nerzbraun metallic‘ and was quite surprised about the blue color. Maybe I got something wrong? We‘ll see the final result, I‘m sure it will be perfect. 👍👍👍
My Granddad gave me a Allegro 1.3. It had spent its life from new towing their touring caravan around England, Came to me with 146000 miles on it! Mechanically some how it was perfect but the shell and wings, rotten through. Ive done a few proper Minis but that was way past its best, It needed every panel. We named her floater as she was the Same poo brown as yours and it wallowed everywhere.
The arse of that Jag is going to get a few wolf whistles it's stunning ! I'm interested in all the aspects of what retropower do but I especially admire your exquisite work on the final bodywork process of all these projects. Top of the range Marc you guys never dissappoint. I have been doing paintwork since I was in my teens (I'm not a professional by any means) I've done mostly motorbikes a few guitars and an MG Midget with plenty of fu*k ups along the way. I can imagine just how difficult and skilled it is to get all the different contours to flow so evenly especially over the larger areas, that's serious sanding commitment and no doubt you must be aching just a little bit here and there😅 I have learned a few things from you guys that have improved my work, I have just finished the last piece of paintwork on a vintage Yamaha I'm restoring and I used epoxy primer for the first time this was a game changer for me I have always used regular primer. The results have come out great. Thanks for sharing your tips and knowledge it's much appreciated, every day is a school day👍
Love the idea of doing these cars. They are cool little things. There’s another channel doing one. But he seems to drag his feet doing it and gets side tracked with other cars. Which is a shame as it hard to watch. But looking forward to seeing this and his finished👍🏻👍🏻
Love it that you have your own channel now Marc! Been a subscriber to Retropower for a while now and great to have more insight into the bodyshop side, you guys are hilarious! Your paint jobs are next level! It must be very rewarding to see the end goal after months of hard work! The paintwork on Churchill is simply stunning!
Thank you we like to have a laugh as it helps working with cars all day and I’m we’ll proud of Churchill it looks amazing we have a good team here at Retropower
Marc, Churchill is stunning, you've the right of that. Having owed a Jag saloon of that vintage some years ago, I was intrigued by Cal's concept and sketches, but Marc, they gave you a gorgeous canvas to lay your talent on. The proportions, all of it, worked far better than I thought. At the same time I had that saloon, I was working for the BL importer through New Orleans- on Allegros, new, nearly rust free Allegos. You have my sympathy- but you also have two Allegros that have Honda hearts and guts- maybe a very different Allegro, indeed!
Top work from the top guys in a top gaff .Ironic one of my first paint jobs was to bog and paint an allegro 40 years back in lovely sand glow … four days prep …keep it going guys
When i was an apprentice working for a transmission specialist in the 80s, i grew to thouroughly dislike Alegros( taking out gearboxes was a proper pain in the arse on axle stands in a tiny garage. I have called them Allagro's ever since. 😊
Love the Churchill colour Marc, are you able to share the code for it. please? The car is absolutely stunning - a massive credit to everyone in the team.
Not only do Retropower create fantastic vehicles, it also looks a great place to work with a good bunch of lads. I work at a grammar school and my workmates are cunts.
How could anyone like an Aggro they were sh"te i set fire to my last one in the 80's but for some reason i'm quite liking this build . Nice paint on the jag was'nt sure about the colour at first .👍
Thank you the allegros are growing on me we have two to build side by side 🤣next one in the body shop next week my next episode on Sunday night will show more progress on the first car
My next door neighbour " Bob " had one of these , .....the front of it snapped while pulling away from traffic lights , I got a phone call to see what was wrong , when I got there and lifted the bonnet the inner wings had parted company with the front bulkhead , if I hadn't seen it myself I would not believe it ,
Top notch prep ,blocking down and paintwork work Mark ( best i have seen ).Just 2 recommended clear coats including a grip coat .I bet your arse was nipping flatting and polishing lol .Couldn't you bake after 2 coats then flat and recoat to get a bit more film thickness ? Hate baking high build clears as it nips off . This is 5 coats of House of Color clear over House of Color Candy Brandy Wine over silver i did .Single handed with owners help from start to finish .The underside is the same finish (semi retired now) ... video "Custom Car :1934 Chevy Street Rod" SuperFly Auto Magazine channel . Retropower and Paint by Curry are in my opinion ( 50 years painting ) the best i have seen .Did you paint that sweet little Opel GT Mark ? Used to own one and rebuilt the shell ( rotten as a pear ) . I also don't have fond memories of Allegro's and Princess,s (bags of crap) .
Thank you no I prepped it and Gaz painted the Opel gt flatting and polishing the jag was ok the two and half coats are plenty but would be better to put more on but the labour cost would rocket more 🤣
The Allegro got a lot of bad press at the time it was launched....and since. But I have always thought it was a decent design, and many of the style details are all there in modern cars - it just needed to be a hatchback to fit in with todays cars. It was faulted because it was 50 years ahead in style. 😁👍🏼
That mk2 is a work Of art,, thought id hate the colour but in the sun its delicious Stu is a fucking magician,, it looks factory As ive said before, wheel choice is gonna be critical I still hate the 2 mk1 escorts The quality of work n fabrication is second to none But the arches ,,, sorry but they are not my thing Mex flares or works bubbles ,, or just NOOOO! Hurry up and finish the itegros,, ( so i don’t have to look at the hideous wings anymore hahaha Can’t wait for the scimitar,, thats gonna be lovely especially with a GA
maybe just maybe all they can afford is a allegro or a marina or they drive them because it was handed down to them from some one who has passed away 9 times out of 10 they who laugh walk or get the bus please dont diss peoples dreams i would kill for a car ANY car because i cant afford one yet.
Absolutely right Dave I'm curious what car do you hope to get when you can afford one and if you had the money what car would you give the Retropower treatment?
@@kougerat5388 well im 64 yo now but i would love a 1.6 ford capri or a mk 5 cortina or a little old skoda estelle 105L if i was rich thats all i would need just a little old car to get me from a to b but i would not mod them i would have them in standerd condition thank you for the reply

@@Retropower_Marc Thank you also. 😊 This perfectly built one-off Jaguar Coupe really is an amazingly stunning beauty and a piece of art! I love it! 👍
Had they produced a ralley version of the allegro, a group B version... we might feel different about it. I've always like it.

Very nice work with that Jag! Is it hard to match color, when painting doors etc. off car?

The allegro looks very flimsy when stripped down .
It’s strong enough plus when the carbon panels get bonded makes a lot of difference

They put fender flares & call it a wide body. What Rubbish.
It’s had full carbon wide panels made 🤣
