Hi, there mr spider man. You will be very happy and proud because tonight I finished the shawl! But I took a very long time because I found that I had made so many errors and I ripped out a horrifying lot of rows and nearly started over again! But now it’s done and the whole planet can rest easy. Thank you so much for your detailed tutorials. I now have a big yellow skein to start another one.
You are the best tutor ❤️ every time i come back to your videos I am amazed how full of empathy you are. I haven't seen better tutorials than yours ❤️❤️❤️
You were clear and thorough - not boring at all. I'm an advanced crafter, watched lots of tutorials. I have never enjoyed any as much as yours. You soothe my nerves. So nice. It makes me love my project all the more. It's turning out beautifully! Thank you. Big love to you.
Just finished this shawl. Fiber Spider, I am a self taught crocheter. You are very easy to understand and very thorough. Thank you, I really enjoyed learning from your video.
Dear Sir, I just wanted to tell you thank you for all the trouble you went through on these tutorials you went further the most and I for one and I'm sure I'm not the only one I'm very very thankful I just wanted you to know you're appreciated. Thank you
Thank you fiber spider for this tutorial you are so clear and crochet slow so easy to follow along and your voice so soothing I'm on my 2nd shawl now but still come back to your video for notes take care
Thanks so much. You were not boring, as a South African I could follow you very clearly. I have done this with Cotton Kings Sultan Deluxe. Will be for my daughter, who is in the UK and I will be visiting here in October. I am so excited.
I want to let you know how much you videos have helped me get back to crocheting after 40 years off. It came back to me thanks to your going slowly and being very specific in your instructions.
Having a good time following your directions. Thanks for all your time you put into these videos. I was afraid I couldn't do it but your videos are making it possible. 😁
Thank you. I love that you repeat all the rows! Some of us have trouble with memory. You pretty much are the only one I follow anymore. Again. Thank you soooo much😘
I was looking for some lowdown crochet and came across his pattern. As soon as I saw it I knew I was going to use some of my holy stash for this. The instructions are so clear that I have no trouble following them.
You are the best! This was a very helpful series of videos and I enjoyed your directions with commentary for the shawl. I changed color in each row for a southwest color scheme. You made it easy and enjoyable. Thank you.
You are an excellent teacher!!!! Your videos have been the best I have used. I am a beginner and I appreciate how completely you explain every step. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you sooooo much . What a fabulous Tutorial. I can Crochet but not read a pattern well. So you made this super easy. I just so happen to be scrolling through TH-cam trying to find something to make with my new wool and it happened to be the same as yours so this was very easy to follow.
Craig, as always you're a master teacher . I can't thank you enough for how well you teach us and allow all of us to look like master's too! God Bless You!
I have never watched a crochet or knit tutorial, and I now feel like I'll never look at another pattern again. It was so helpful to see your placement, and technique. Also, I feel like we are in the same room, and all I'm missing is a cuppa. Your voice and tips are soothing and inspiring. This is a lovely pattern, and I will make several of these and give as gifts. Thank you for making this video!
I'm just finishing the "Virus & Granny" shawl for my granddaughter. It is turning out beautifully! Thank you for doing these videos! As one teacher to another, you are good! Keep that creativety coming!🎉
You are a wonderful teacher. You voice is so soothing. Your instructions concise & easy to follow. It was an absolute pleasure to crochet along with you. May there be every good blessing for you always. Thank you
Thank you so much. I have learned so much from you. Learned virus from you have made lots of blankets and shawls with it. Now doing this one for the first time in all black. It is turning out just beautiful. You are the best teacher on you tube. Always point out details so we don't mess up. I recommend you to all my crochet friends.
Best tutorial I have ever used. Cannot believe I was able to complete this great shawl. Only one regret and a heads up for other users. I bought a big cheap on sale caron big cake in questionable colors because I wasn't sure if I could do it and wanted to see if I could. Buy pretty, quality yarn, cause it turned out great and you CAN do it with this tutorial. It is a lot of work. The one I made looks like colors picked by a hippie colony, but its still pretty.
Thank you for this tutorial, so well and precisely explained, in a calm and pleasant voice. I am not an expert in the art of crocheting, but I started working on a similar shawl. I hope I succeed... Thank you and I wish you health and success!
I have done this pattern with you 3 times now...and have not tired of it yet! This crochets up so nicely with whatever color I use! Your instructions are wonderful! Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this!
Hi there Fiber Spider, I just completed my Granny-Virus Shawl and am quite pleased with myself because I only just learned to crochet and am self taught. However, following your very comprehensive video, it has enabled me to finish something I can wear this winter. Thank you so much for your channel, it is really superb and you are a great teacher and very caring. Kind regards from England, UK Joan Wells.
Hi, did you find that the instructions made for a rather small shawl? I am almost finished (only two granny rows to go) and it seems pretty small. I used the Mandala Warlock yarn and a size H hook. Maybe I need to just keep doing repeats of the virus/granny sections until it is a large as I want? Thanks if you have any advice.
I used your Cake's shawl vest pattern to turn this shawl into a vest. It is turning out beautiful. Thank you for all your patients in showing how a pattern is crocheted. I am deaf but am able to follow along.
Thank you for being so thorough. I have done many virus and grannies. You showed the transition between them so beautifully that I was able to just go for it without hunting down anything else. Your videos are always easy to follow.
I've made enough virus shawls that I have that patterned memorized. Even so, I found this tutorial more than helpful in creating this variation. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos. They are appreciated!
Your tutorials are excellent. I have followed many patterns. Thank you for being so clear and taking your time to ensure that we get such detailed instructions.
I was so intimidated by the virus pattern but you have made this way too easy to understand and now with your help I’m ready to tackle a virus blanket. Thank you so so much for doing these videos. I won’t hardly watch anyone else to learn from. You are such a wonderful teacher. Wish I had you to teach me to knit better!
I've made two shawls the last few days using your tutorial vids for "Virus Meets Granny". I am soooo pleased with how they turned out, all due to your excellent videos. I've been crocheting for decades, but am completely self taught via written instructions - which means ongoing basic construction errors in my pieces because I just didn't know any better. Your thorough visual instructions have helped me tremendously in learning better methods. Plus, I find your voice and diction to be quite soothing, so that makes the videos even better. Thank you so much!
Just watched all three videos of this Beautiful shawl, I can't wait to try it. I will have to watch all three videos again probably a half dozen times before I get it. I've done the same with your celtic weave hat , and your waffle stich hat . I've made dozens and have several more hats and neck warmers to match , to go. Thank you, your voice is soothing and kind .I love how you teach , don't change a thing.
Hey FS, I love all your videos and have done several. This particular shawl is a fav. I would love it if you would show where you do your color changes. Also show the shawl longer at beginning, middle and ending. As I am new at crocheting, I’m slower too so I like to look at your work and the colors you use. Absolutely beautiful. You are my favorite crochet buddy! I’m 62 and just now learning to crochet and love following alongside of you. So thanks for the guidance!
As a Newbie to crochet I am delighted to have just completed my first ever Virus Shawl, thanks to you. You are a fantastic teacher. Thank you for your dedication
You are just fantastic. . I made this for my sister. Only possible through your perfect tutorials. Thank you so much. I’m so happy I found you. You make me happy.
Yippee, you are so appreciated by your yarnanoires ❤🤣🎉🎉🎉💋😁😂 was afraid this old lady wouldn't be able to do this, you have made this easy, understandable, and practically mistake proof, any made were mine, but never got too far to fix, thank you, thankful from the bottom of my ❤🎤
thank you so much for the 3 part video. I appreciate you being thorough, since I have memory issues and easily forget patterns unless I have worked them many many times over and over again. Thank you for the beautiful design and wonderful tutorials.
I began this project and found the written pattern somewhat lacking in detail and clarity in certain areas. I hoped for a diagram, but soon discovered that the one that came with the pattern instructions was more confusing than the written words. Your videos (and I watched all 3 of them) was what got me back on the right path and made so much of what I was wondering about make perfect sense. I can't thank you enough. I really love this pattern and now feel as if I will be able to finish it to perfection. Thank you! Great job!
Excellent Turtorial. You were clear and thorough - not boring at all. Plus you are at a lovely pace, so that I can follow. I'm an advanced crafter, watched lots of tutorials. I have never enjoyed any as much as yours. Your humor and way of presenting is top class and I will surely recommend your tutorials to my friends. Take care and I am looking forward to more of your videos. Keep safe
You definitely are thorough and NOT boring! I have just finished viewing all 3 parts and am now ready to begin my first virus-granny shawl with my Mandala Centaur. Personally, I am not a fan of all those ‘eyes’ so I am elated to have found this video. Thank you so much! 😘
Hi Mr. Spider, just wanted to thank you for all the postings. I enjoy crocheting and knitting, and watching your videos is kind of like a square dance...you call the stitches, and we execute them along with! Thanks for being my sanity after a long day of work in the cruel world. It's a happy place in your videos. I appreciate you, my youtube sensei and friend. Take care!
I have been crocheting about a year now and this is the first of your tutorials I’ve tried. You are awesome! So patient and thorough. Can’t wait to finish this shawl! Thank you!
Really enjoyed this tutorial series! You were clear and thorough with the instructions. This might be my first "intricate" project where I didn't have to rip out and go back. Lol. Thank you!!🥰
I love your tutorials, the time and attention to detail you put into them are endearing and priceless. Thank you so much. I will spread the love you share with your tutorials with friends, colleagues and anyone else interested in learning how to make beautiful pieces.
Got it done! Beautiful pattern and tutorial. Give props to Rose likes crochet for showing her beautiful work which inspired me to try it. Didn't know I could do it, but I did. Thanks!!!
Fantastic tutorial, you make this difficult looking shawl so very easy to do for a beginner like me. Thank you so very much for being thorough and easy to follow along!! I loved the journey with you and I am very happy with my results because of your tutorial.
Excellent instructions on what to look for at each stage. Your calm voice is like having a pal explaining by my side. Plus your sense of humour reminds me of my son and his friend Barry both living in Australia. This is the first time I have ever subscribed, so live long and prosper.
Thank you so very much for going as many repeats as you do do because by the time your done I finally get it 🙌 😀 love this pattern and thank you for being a great teacher. 🙂
So being stuck in the house, I've decided to make this , at first I was very apprehensive about it but your instructions and the calm of your voice made it possible , thank you so very much for taking out the time to teach us . Stay safe 💛
Thank you so much for your attention to detail, your patience, plus all the time and effort you put into this tutorial...you're a wonderful teacher!.I have been following along and am so pleased with how my shawl is turning out thanks to you..Blessings Terry in Vancouver,B.C.
Working on my 2nd iteration of this shawl. Thank you so much for your tutorials! They've been Lifesavers during this crazy pandemic/political time. An island of calm. Thank you.
OMG. You r a Godess! So patient. I enjoyed the step by step. short term memory loss makes it hard now, plus I live alone and it's nice having someone sitting with me chatting away as I stitch. So glad I found you. You're an excellent instructor, very easy to follow along and get it right the first time. Thank You soooo much.
Just wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time to be so thorough. I have tried to do this shawl & similar & couldn’t grasp it. I’m crocheting along with you & I’m such a happy bunny, suddenly it all makes sense. You are a great teacher, long may you continue to make these videos. I, for one, am very grateful. 🥰
You are the best instructor I've ever had the pleasure to learn from. Thank you for being so thorough and also for the time stamps on the rows. I am doing this shawl and absolutely loving it! But I'd never have gotten through it without your wonderful video tutorial.
I love this pattern. I have done several, one following the pattern to the letter. Then I took your advice and got creative. I discovered that you can make the Granny section as wide as you want, as long as the number of clusters (not including the apex) is a multiple of 5. You can also do as many Virus repeats as you want, remembering that each repeat will add 5 more clusters to your beginning Granny section. As much as I ADORE the regular Virus Shawl, the variations with this version make it my new go-to pattern. Thank you for your thorough explanations and demonstrations.
I have made quite a few regular virus shawls following another tutorial. At least 5 or 6. I must say the as I work on this grannys Virus i can see how the granny clusters off set the virus pattern stitches and really makes it stand out! Its lovely. I cant wait to finish it. Its my favorite flavor, cherry red!.
I watched all 3 videos. Thank you do much. The Virus Shawl I already made twice. Next will be this one. Will use Bamboo Cotton yarn. Hope it turns out nice as well. You are a great teacher. All is very clear and makes it so easy. 😘 from Bali
I’ve been trying to find the right shawl for the right yarn (cotton). I tried two others, didn’t work. Third time is a charm. It’s looking so beautiful. I watched every row with you. Most of the time, I can keep up with you. Thanks so much.
Hello FiberSpider, and thank you for these videos!! I had been wanting to try to Virus meets Granny shawl for awhile and followed your video to do so for my first crochet comission ever!! The finished product is beautiful, snuggly, and warm and I really hope my customer loves it and I hope his mom (who it's going to) loves it even more!! I used a 5.25mm hook and Caron simply soft in coffee for the virus sections, Caron simply soft in bone for the granny sections, and I have 3 sections of each in total. It allmmmooosssttt reaches my wrists and I'm 5'6", and the woman that it's for is a couple inches shorter. Your guidance and thorough tutorial helped this happen!! Thank you!!
Hi, my name is Doris and I really am enjoying your crochet videos. I've been working along with you all morning for this beautiful shawl and am very excited to finish it. Thank you so much. Thank you for being so good at giving directions.
Thanks to you, I have graduated beyond the granny square! This shawl was so beautiful to me, but also very intimidating. I watched your videos several times before attempting it. Your simplified and thorough instructions gave me the confidence to try it. Now, I am actually holding my very own creation! I've gotten so many compliments. It makes me look like a pro. So, again, ThanQ!
Thank you Fiber Spider. You are very clear. I appreciate this in this particular pattern especially. I have had to take apart 3 rows because I did not count correctly. Going slow is the key to get this one right.
Just written out all your instructions, now waiting on yarn to be delivered, can’t wait to get started. Your video has tempted me to crochet again after years, I mean YEARS of lost interest. I can always go through the videos to clarify any problems, they are so clear even a child could follow them. Thank you for leading me into temptation.
working on my third shawl out of 4 for gifting this year.so far two granny meets her virus and then another of the lapping waves. You fiber spider ae an awesome instructor thank you very very much
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am new to this and this is my first project and it is coming along so nicely with your patience and easy instructions. Thank you so much I could not have done this without you.
Thank you so much for this tutorial and others. Excellent and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I appreciate your commentaries that explain the reasons for crocheting certain stitches, etc. and broadening my understanding of the art of crochet. I have a long list of projects and all include your tutorials. Much appreciation for your hard work and dedication to your followers. Many thanks!
I adore your tutorials. I did the Virus Shawl with you and thought nothing could be better. Boy was I wrong!! Virus Meets Granny is the most amazing pattern. I make Prayer Shawls for the ladies of my church and its a struggle to make them different. I did the regular Virus Shawl last week and had a special request for a repeat, which I finished tonight. Decided I check out this tutorial and can't wait to finish it. Works up so fast and the results are so beautiful!! God Bless You for your patience and for sharing your love of crafting with us. You are the BEST!
🎉🎉🎉 hey, so my two favorite mixes of the show the virus shawl and the granny looks so pretty together, love one of the designs and mixed together in the shawl looks Amazing
This was great ! Usually, I muster through reading a pattern, but I thoroughly enjoyed crocheting along as you narrated what to do. I will look for other videos to follow. Thank you, thank you!!
Wonderful tutorial, I have been crocheting for years and it’s nice to see such wonderful videos. Love listening to you as I crochet along with you. It’s just like having a crochet buddy in the room with me. Just love it. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Hi, there mr spider man. You will be very happy and proud because tonight I finished the shawl! This pattern is SO FUN to work. I’m in my Shawl era 💁🏼♀️

You're making what looks like a tricky pattern very simple and fun to follow - thank you! BTW - I LOVE the way you pronounce the word "two"!
Thank you so much for your tutorials. Even after many years, yours are still the very best on the WWW. Sending love from Belgium!
Thank you. I love that you repeat all the rows! Some of us have trouble with memory. You pretty much are the only one I follow anymore. Again. Thank you soooo much😘

Thanks so much for your enjoyable, thorough and clear three part video
Just wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time to be so thorough. I have tried to do this shawl & similar & couldn’t grasp it. I’m crocheting along with you & I’m such a happy bunny, suddenly it all makes sense. You are a great teacher, long may you continue to make these videos. I, for one, am very grateful. 🥰
Thank you so much for these videos. I am going to do this shawl for my sister. I can't wait to get stitching! Your videos are the best!
Thank you for your dedication to teaching.
I so enjoy your tutorials.
Your tone and inflection in your voice is so very calming!
Your videos are so clear and easy to follow. Which is seriously appreciate because i am terrible at reading patterns themselves. Thank you so much!
Thank you for taking me step-by-step on this, my first shawl. You make it easy!
You are the best instructor I've ever had the pleasure to learn from. Thank you for being so thorough and also for the time stamps on the rows. I am doing this shawl and absolutely loving it! But I'd never have gotten through it without your wonderful video tutorial.
Simply love your work...and thank you for spending your time teaching a newbie how it follows.
😘 from Bali
I just finished making my shawl. Love your tutorials you explain and demonstrate so well and easy to follow along with. 💜🤗🧶
I’ve been trying to find the right shawl for the right yarn (cotton). I tried two others, didn’t work. Third time is a charm. It’s looking so beautiful. I watched every row with you. Most of the time, I can keep up with you. Thanks so much.
You have the best personality! Watching your videos makes me so cheerful! Thank you! ❤️🧶❤️🧶❤️
I finished my 1st one and Love ❤️ it needless to say I could not have done it without you. Thank you so much for your tutorial!
Thank you for your patience, I've followed this again for the 3rd time but still have to follow all 4 parts. X
Wonderful tutorial as always. Your calm and clear instructions had me pick this pattern up so quickly. Thank you dear Spidey.
I can not follow pattern but I can follow your tutorials easily. I wish you could see what I've done so far . Very pleased with it . Thank you 😊
I adore your tutorials.
