    Lana, you are great. Seriously, you should be paid a lot by the company for basically doing the job of quite a few staff members who get calls about problems. I bet people are reaching out to you more instead of the company. Well done with explaining and diligently answering questions.

    This was a very smart move to catch the trending wave by getting this equipment that I didn't even know existed. To encourage YT to suggest it I would advise creating a playlist for these videos.

    Here's my tip for helping to skewer a poultry, beef, pork or lamb joint ready for the rotisserie. The rotisserie rod itself is, of necessity, blunt at both ends. I have found that pushing a sharper skewer through the middle of the joint will make a guide hole which helps when you come to push through the rotisserie rod itself. Obviously you should try to get it as close to centre of the joint as possible. I reckon that because it is balanced it takes the strain off of the turning motor. Works for me. Also if you see you can fit in some veggies, mainly potatoes, around the outside of the joint as it rotates it helps to use one of the perforated racks. Turn it upside down then place it directly onto the drip tray, then place your veggies on this.. That way the veggies don't drown in the juices which will drip from the joint onto the drip tray. Of course you can't always fit these spare veggies around the edge, but it is worth trying. Hope this helps. Greetings from England and thanks for these great tips.

    Your videos are great and helped me feel confident getting the Vortex Plus. I gave it a real try but the one I just got had a persistent toxic smell. I bought it through Macy’s trying to reduce the chance of getting a counterfeit or bad batch. I think manufacturing is inconsistent and some batches are duds. Also got two dud coffee makers in a row. Factories make mistakes. Every product gets counterfeited.

      Lol I hear ya! A good tip is to place foil on the bottom and fold it over the tray so it doesn't fly up. Then you can just throw it away when it gets too dirty. The sides don't get to bad. And just wipe down with a wet Norwex cloth after each use and you'll be good!

    Here's a good tip for the 6 qt Instant Pot when making yogurt. If positioned right, almost all wide-mouth quart Mason jars will fit. That lets you make the yogurt in your storage container. Put in a couple of cups of water and three of the jars, and then go through the usual sterilization and fermenting processes. Some regular-sized Mason jars will also fit.

    How has the stainless veneer held up? Some stainless appliances hold up well some get smears or dirty very easily so curious b4 purchasing.
    Working off your template trick I've had a folded up IKEA paper yard "stick" in my wallet for years for the same purpose. I can check a product dimension online or premeasure and measure what I find in store to see if it'll fit!

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha I have one of those IKEA ruler in my purse too, lol. The veneer has held up really really well. I wipe it down after every cook (or at least before I cook in it again. I never cook in it dirty) and it looks great. My husband cooked in it a few times and didn't wipe the metal rungs on either side of the bottom heating element and that got a little spotty but I found that with light pressure with a scrub sponge and some cleaner, it comes off.

    Thanks so much for the video(s)!!!! I will buy that grid thing for the bottom of the Vortex! I got my Vortex sunday on my 24-hour weekend but won't have any time to even open the box until next weekend/off day! I work for some real slave drivers. I want to try making an eye of round beef roast in it! I used one of those for Jeffrey's (Pressure Luck) Pot Roast and it was such a good cut of beef it should turn out fine in the Vortex! On an aside, living in Missouri we don't have toll roads here and it sounds like it's super expensive to both drive and park in NYC! Thanks again! Looking forward to your future videos!!! Take care and best wishes!!!!

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thank you so much for sharing. First, we used to live in NW Arkansas and often would cross over to Missouri. My husband loves Silver Dollar City! And you are so right, it is much more expensive and complicated to live in NYC. It was a hard change from Arkansas, for sure. I use a similar roast for my IP Pot Roast. The only thing is that cut is very tough and needs a low and slow cooking method. Good luck and I would love to hear how yours turns out in the Vortex.

      Great question. I don't cook steak a lot in it because I love doing my steaks sous vide or Cuban steaks I just saute in a pan. But it depends on the size and thickness. When I have done it I did them on a baking tray and flipped 1/2 way. Air Fry mode 375 and time depends on thickness.

    Is there a way to turn off the preheat function. It annoy me that I have to wait 5 minutes to cook something like hot dogs that take only 3 minutes to cook.

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      NO you cannot turn off the preheat function. But the reason it only takes the hot dogs to cook is because it is preheated. Just like with a regular oven, you have to let it come to temp. That said, some things you can either go in before or you can take advantage of the preheat, for example when I make hot dogs from frozen, I use the preheat time to start defrosting them.

    I was contemplating on this or the ninja foodi 8 qt. I'm more interested in this honestly. But I've seen people voice concerns about the different levels of the racks and how quickly the top cooks vs the bottom. So if you had multiple racks of chicken in, how do you get them to cook evenly?

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. I don't have the ninja but it seems more like the instant pot with crisp lid. You probably could only air fry as much food in the ninja as you could on one rack of the Vortex. That said, to cook multiple racks you would cook starting with the racks on the second and third position then switch.

    Sorry if this may have been answered before but just got this airfryer and found your channel. You mentioned you line your drip tray with foil for easy clean up but what I want to know is if you do anything for the door? I tend to cook and like a steak/bacon and found that I am constantly taking the door off and cleaning good and hinge area. Any tips for that? Thanks!

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi. Sadly there isn;t a way to line the door safely. However, a Norwex cloth usually wipes it clean without having to use cleaners. Thats' what I use. Another trick is when taking out food, you can use a small silicon pad to place on the door so when you pull out the food it doesn't drip on the door.

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use flour as a coating. Bu the trick is to use a light flour coating. Then a wet dredge like egg. Then flour coating and let it sit for 20 mins in the fridge so the flour absorbs. Then any flour that is still dry use an olive oil spray to spray it because dry flour doesn't brown. That said, you do not have to have a coating to get crispy skin. See my chicken wing recipe on my blog.

    I just got the instant vortex plus air fryer and I have cooked on it multiple times. The problem I'm having is when I cook say chicken tenders and have 2 trays in the fryer, the trays cook pretty unevenly. Why is this? What am I doing wrong? Should I not have it on "Air fry" or should I have it on something else?

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When coming with 2 trays since the Vortex only has heating elements at the top, it will be uneven. The truck is to not crowd the food, rotate that's twice, and try not to use the very top level.

    Does this have a nonstick interior? On one video you said you spoke to the company about the Omni Plus interior and they said it was nonstick but not Teflon (did I hear that right?) If it’s not Teflon I wonder what it is and if it’s totally safe? And is it the same coating that this Vortex has? I’m trying to decide which model to buy tonight on Cyber Monday. I was going to go with the regular Omni (not Plus) but I only see the Plus available on Amazon. I’m going to search though more tonight. Thanks for all your help! PrOdCtRev did a review of the Instant Vortex Plus, which highlighted its many deficiencies, I was rather curious as to whether you would agree with this assessment and its ultimate conclusion.

      Hi. I haven't seen that video, but I will go and take a look and let you know what I think.

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. I checked out get video. I agree somewhat that there is a bit of a testing period with new appliances, but I think sher was s bit harsh. Fries are great in the basket sher just over filled it. Also every recor she failed at was because she started out with the package directions. But you can't use directions for a regular oven on a small air fryer. Of course it won't work. As for the display I'm not sure what she means. I guess it would be good if it had a clock instead of saying off, but for an appliance $100, I think it's great.

      @@LanaUnderPressure I totally agree with your assessment of this review. Personally, I do not think that the presenter gave the Instant Vortex Plus a fair chance and was totally dismayed by her lack of research especially when there is much material available on TH-cam. As for the settings such as cook times and temperature settings, they should also be similar to other airfryers(They are all really convection ovens anyways.). Her complaint about the small size capacity of the chicken on the spit shouldn't have been such an issue, if she had followed your work around by roasting a 5 lb. bird without it.

  • @drich4life
    @drich4life 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Lana! I have a quick question? I have a whole chicken at 4.35lbs and 4.61 lbs. Do u think that will be an issue for the Vortex plus rotisserie function?

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Yes you definitely don't want to go over. Even a few ounces. But if you search I have as video on hour to do a bird over 4 lbs. Try removing the wings and the weight. That might do it. If not check out my video.

      Oh boy it's been forever since I've been to a fair. Do you mean the roasted stuffed poblanos peppers? I've never made them before but on my Facebook page I know a few people who have roasted whole poblanos in the basket and said it worked great.

    • @MySonsMother
      @MySonsMother 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The unstuffed ones. Probably like your friends do. I buy them at the fair. They put them in baggies which softens them and you van easily remove the waxy part. I eat half the bag immediately till my mouth is burning, lol.

    Great tips and tricks. Thank you for sharing! I have another. Instead of making templates, I carry a mini tape measure with me and the dimensions of the item I want to buy a vessel for. I do have a question... When you said to put a baking rack on the bottom if the chicken is too big for rotisserie, is this because it's too heavy for one of the trays or would it be too high and possibly burn?

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great tip. I used to have a mini measuring tape somewhere. As for the baking rack, I use that because you gave to have a solid tray and a rack, just high enough to have air flow under but as close to the bottom as possible to keep the top from over browning. I found that using the drip tray on the floor of the oven and a rack on it, works best. But in a pinch you could place the slotted tray upside down on top of the drip tray.

      @@LanaUnderPressure Thanks for the info. One more tip I saw elsewhere. If you have something dripping and taking it out of the Vortex, put something across the door so you don't have to keep wiping up grease. Some use foil, but I have a silicone mat that I would use because it's reusable. I"d be using it now but Canada still doesn't have the Vortex for sale and for some reason, IP will not give us a date or a price. GRRR
