This song makes me imagine an army of medieval human soldiers and knights marching in formation with great pose and discipline as they assemble themselves to fight for war against the monstrous orcs.
I love that part. Makes me imagine an alliance soldier thinking about giving up and surrendering to despair, but then deciding that he needs to fight on for not just his own survival, but his whole species... Powerful part needless to say haha
ah the joys of discovering the RTS genre as a kid with this game cuz warcraft 3 was not out at the time so it was this and then starcraft. and being called a cheater by the game for using cheats. seriously this game had it all. xD
Yeah, I don't play WoW anyway, but I wish the Warcraft RTS series still continued, because those games were actually a whole lot of fun. If Blizzard decides to do a Warcraft RTS I think they should add the Naga, as an actual playable race, because while they were playable in Frozen Throne, that was only because of the story, which I'm not gonna lie was a bit of a disappointment. I think for the campaign they should give us a choice of whatever faction we want and play as the races involved in that faction, Like the horde, for example. You can choose between orcs, tauren, trolls or the Forsaken. Of course the alliance is humanity as well as some of the elves that are still loyal to Jaina after everything that's happened, or the Burning Legion, with Kael and the blood elves as well as the Naga. BTW, the night elves are my current favorite race in the Warcraft seires
i feel ya there, but it seem the RTS are dead... except Starcraft 2 none had hit the market recently and none that is past based like warcraft in forever! i miss the good old days...
waaaaaaaaa!!! i wanna blizz to do a remake of warcraft 2 that goes ot with warcraft 4 cause wow stopped being fun a while ago... there are still rts players out there!
You know, I too was skeptical about the Pandaren at first but after actually playing through the expansion, I think Blizz has done a mighty fine job. They're actually stepping their game up with each one. I've been a Warcraft fan since the beginning and I intend to continue to be one.
I once saw someone in Team Fortress 2 use a Warcraft 2 soundboard for pretty much every situation. When he was building a sentry gun, he'd use the peasant sfx. When they got shot at, he'd yell "We are under attack!". Anytime someone called for help, you'd hear a footman say "At once, sire!". Pure comic genius.
The Eversong Farstriders, the guys who help out the player against the Amani. There are even old Elven battleships (Destroyers from WC2). Other than that, Warlock/Mage magic has been the attention of most Belf lore since WoW. I kind of agree. I wish they would balance Blood Elf aspects more.
I'm not doubting that but in sense of the game following the storyline...it bombed but it was the third instalment so lots of people would buy it to complete the trilogy (also I didn't mean either...it was suppose to be entire).
its success can not be measured solely by how many people playing it still or not actually, it comes to more of a personal tastes. On the other hand, what is certain is that it was casualized all around just look at graphics' dramatical change in a cartoony style which speaks for itself.
Why are these 2 tracks always counted together when they're 2 separate pieces? Whatever. The 2nd half of this (from 3:34 on) is, I would say, the single greatest piece of music Blizzard have EVER made. Nothing encapsulates the high fantasy world of Warcraft half so well.
The Forest trolls got reduced to a bunch of "Always chaotic evil" mooks (Ironic since they were the most sympathetic Horde race in WC2) and have been replaced with their lankier, less-savage cousins. The Darkspear are cool but I'd prefer the Amani. They have no place in the story rather than being mercenaries and random creeps. High Elves, you have a point. The transition to Blood Elves made for an interesting story.
The High Elves never left the Alliance, its just some of them became Blood Elves. But considering current events in the last few expansion packs, Im pretty sure they will become a strong force within the Alliance again, despite having lost Quel'Thalas. Veressa and Alleria will probably lead these High Elves through the Silver Covenant, there is no way she will forgive the Horde for killing Rhonin in Theramoore. I long for the day High Elves will be playable on the Alliance, if it ever comes.
Blood elves on the horde doesn't make sense, they are enemies of the trolls , fought the orcs in the second war and were almost exterminated by the scourge but now they fight alongside trolls, forsaken and orcs
@butthead6886 For me that is Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (and Frozen Throne) but Warcraft II will always have very special place in my heart, since it was the very first RTS game I ever played....and it's soundtrack is simply the best in RTS genre, this music brings back so many great memories from my childhood =)
I realize this is a pretty late contribution to the discussion, but yeah, the elves and trolls were DRASTICALLY made over in WC3 and WoW. They weren't magic addicts, they were typical woodland rangers. Personally Elven Ranger units were my favorite unit of any warcraft game.
I do agree that the MMO did kill off any hope of a new RTS, but I think I've finally gotten over that. One thing that's continued to be interesting to me is the lore. It's gone from being fairly simple to being mighty complex, and as someone who loves lore in video games that makes me happy. it gives me a lot to learn about and understand. I may not like/agree with everything that's done with it, but it's still pretty awesome overall, at least to me!
The new lore is stupid beyond mortal comprehension. IT's been utterly retarded by them ever since.. Well technically Wc3 you could see the cracks form but really in The Burning Crusade. That's where all handcuffs came off and the stupid entered in full force.
20 years later i still hear this song in my head sometimes
22 and counting.
If I get dementia it will probably be the last thing I remember.
WE STILL HEAR IT

Aye aye, captain!
Use this soundtrack in the 2nd Warcraft movie ?? YES PLEASE
good idea!
What they should do is have a remix of the menu theme for the intro and have this and the orc theme for the credits.
Yes they should. :D And they should include the remakes of the cinematics. :)
I remember when I used to launch a mission and pause the game just to listen to the music...
I was born with that tune already in my head

I'm sure human units from WC2 would beat the crap out of those from WC3 in a fight. They were hard badasses.
