I absolutely love these soundtracks and this game; and these songs bring back great memories of playing this game when it came out and I was 7 or so. I loved the "For the King" deep voiced knights and the "Don't you have a kingdom to run" footmen. This game means and it's soundtracks mean so much to me as it was a part of my childhood and is much more of a game than WoW ever was. The songs send shivers of memories and of controlling the two powers down my spine.
ArcaneAzmadi Mine too. The beginning is actually a variation of Bourrée in E minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. But the whole piece is amazing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourr%C3%A9e_in_E_minor
I am 28 years old and I can still myself as a 14 years old in front of the 486 IBM playing the game and living in the fanatsy world..... oh they were good times and great quiet gaming nights...... miss that feeling so much.
had the exact same thing but with starcraft. But playing this game today after all these years I can definitely feel nostalgic about a game that I never played as a kid. it hits the same buttons for me that starcraft did.
I love what they did with Heroes of the Storm soundtrack. You can also listen human theme 1 and 4 in some map, or orc theme 3 while the ship is firing. I want a warcraft 2 remake with starcraft 2 engine and Heroes of the Storm kind of music :
Boromir Javi You can also hear the Dragon Soul version of Gunship battle,i think..its been a long time since i did Dragon Soul..mainly because it was BAD,but hey.I think its track 10 of HoTS music.
OMG, the tune starting at 03:35, best soundtrack EVER. Suddenly I feel like the little boy 10 years back in time... Been looking for it everywhere, and it still sounds exactly the same as how I remembered it. Thanks alot for uploading
I was actually late to school because of this masterpiece. I saw that I have 7 minutes to the beginning of the lesson and said: "Screw it! I'm going to listen this!" It was worth comming late and having to sit with the most anoying person in class.
Whoa hearing this again... it almost brings tears to my eyes. Many fond memories of such an amazing game. This is pretty much where my love for games started.
I remember being a wee lad and getting this game for my birthday back in the mid 90's after nagging my parents about it for half a year. The world epic battles, magic, bloodshed and strategy that was opened up to me when I started playing was unlike anything I had ever seen. Some things stay with you. 13 years later I still know that a peasant/peon costs 400 g, a footman/grunt costs 600 g and the T1 and T2 upgrades to your HQ gives you +10 gold each!
i love the second song in this (seeming single) track. i have to same mp3s on my comp as i have the two pieces in a single track aswell. i think they both have awe inspiring opening stanzas. what a mad composer for being able to achieve this with midi files
OMG, i also remeber. Go to ski all the day with my father then, when i went back home all i wanted to do was playing this, we were close to christmas taht was awesome!
The best thing about old games is their great and challenging gameplay. Followed by incredible music that really sticks to your memory for a long time.
Also, my favourite and the one I kept whistling most often is the one in this clip, that starts at 3.33, just crazy. I play WoW as well and honestly, all that feeling, the role playing, the lore, the feeling of belonging to a faction, it's all gone.
The game CD works in my CD player and plays the soundtack. I first played Warcraft II back in 96, 13 years ago. I was 9 then. It was mine and my fathers first RTS and it was our favorite game which lead on to more rts games but none of them have ever replaced Warcraft II. The music, the graphics and the story are wonderful. To this date it is still my favorite game I have ever played.
I played this game like 10 years ago, and I can tell you it was amazing. I havent played it in the longest time, and yet I still whistle these soundtracks sometimes, specially the human ones which, until now, I thought were orc ones for some reason :D
I remember playing games like hexen 2 with this in the background because i never discovered that you could change it to the igame music and just had it set to CD music, which was warcraft II
So , dramatic, heroic and simply just awesome! What a shame newer games don´t have that good a music anymore. I enjoyed playing this game, brings back a lot of good memories...
@Lucavii I think you misunderstood. I've done a fair bit of nerding when it comes to WoW lore. What I meant is that it's more cute and fluffy than it once was. The Horde is suddenly this shamanistic people and not ruthless killers, something I was quite fond of really. I liked that you had the "good" and the "evil". Now everyone is good, and everyone is misunderstood. This is why I love Garrosh.
These songs were all done on Roland synthesizers. I had a Roland Juno-D and played the midi versions of these songs on it and they sounded extremely similar. There were no reverberation effects and the chorus was not enabled however.
I still remember myself listening to the soundtrack before i went to bed... The original cd had the tracks playable. Man, i'm getting old. This sucks. Give me back my gaming youth :(
There are many games with fantastic soundtracks, particularly around this era (the C&C games also spring to mind). Warcraft 2 though may just have the greatest video game music ever.
ah goodness, I remember this song. Back when games were on CD-rom and the 1st track contained the game while the rest of the tracks contained the music to the game.
Love from sweden, played Warcraft for 12 years now, started with wc2, (then diablo 1) when i finnished it i played WC1. These songs makes me realy nostalgic ^^ im as eager 2 get a warcraft 4 and a Diablo 3 ( that is announced) as i was 2 get D2 and Wc3 :P Peace and love from sweden ;) For the hord!
11 years have past since the dark portal has been destroyed and peace remained in the lands of Azeroth, the game thus ended, (the games after warcraft 2 don't matter to me) but we have thus been fighting our own orcs within ourselves and listening to these music gives us the courage to do better, close the dark portals within our hearts and remember the victory that we achieved, and that we can be victorious again, we can change the world.
Best game ever made, played it once, twice, several times the soundtrack owned the gameplay owned. Blizzard is conquering the world, thanks for a awesome game!
the part at 3:35 would always, without fail, begin to play whenever I loaded a game (usually after having wrecked the enemy economy while in cheat mode)... Anyone else having a similar experience? Cheating may or may not be included.
+Martin Johansson hahaha after reading this comment i skipped back to the point 3:35, and yes i can recognize this the same as you! including the cheating part >:)
The endless hours I spent hearing this music in the 90's, it's etched in my mind forever. It's kind of sad they decided to expand on this world with WoW. The lore ended up becoming really generic and unimaginative high fantasy stuff, easily the weakest link in what was otherwise a fine game for many years. But time hasn't eaten away at the awesome contained in this soundtrack at all. =)
Warcraft series was doomed to be an RPG anyways, like most fantasy-driven series are. The thing is that the very first WoW had remote revelance to what happened at the end of WC3: Frozen Throne. But it was very good on its own, which created completelly new and unique gaming tradition for World of Warcraft, which, unfortunatelly, started to go into decline roughly after The Burning Crusade. The peak of this notion happened on Mist of Pandaria, when Blizzard decided to make a new WoW race from Pandarians, who were really minor characters in Warcraft games. That really "added insult to injury", or to put it more literally, less idiomatic - they poured salt on flesh wound and alienated the rest of devoted Warcraft fans.
Everyone has their own preferences. For me, WoW started going downfall after Burning Crusade, but was still quite okay during WotLK. (there were even few good inventions back then, like LFG system) It started going bad because Blizzard started to target casual players - which was a bad idea because "hardcore" gamers were really backbone of WoW's population ever since Vanilla. Endgame PvE and PvP was everything there was to WoW after players become well-accustomed with the incredible world of Warcraft. It was really a rad game at 2002 - but eventually all the grinding and leveling stuff became less and less enjoyable (to the point where sitting in instances to level up is currently prefered by many) and spectacular BG's like Alterac Valley had to be traded for competetive Arenas.

man this game had amazing music. You can listen to it 20 years later and its still good.
good music is timeless
The sounds were so good!! Plenty of bass too!! It doesn’t sound cheesy at all, just great

Damn, I'm 30 years old now and this music still gives me chills over a decade since I first heard it.

Glenn Stafford and Matt Uelmen crafted my love for Blizzard games in 90s.
The Human OST was really something back in Warcraft II. Very noble, proud, and courageous.
It's christmas 1995, we got our first computer and I am playing Warcraft 2 :D Good old times.

The 2nd half of this (3:35 or so) is my favourite piece of RTS music of ALL TIME.
omg mine too... my disc written 3:35 part onwards as human 3 though....
ArcaneAzmadi Mine too. The beginning is actually a variation of Bourrée in E minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. But the whole piece is amazing.

Warcraft II ost is such a masterpiece, I find myself listening to it atleast once a year.

Man, this brings back those memories. I was probably 5 when I first played WC2 and I still love it to this day. I just loved the soundtrack too.
I remember being a wee lad and getting this game for my birthday back in the mid 90's after nagging my parents about it for half a year. (though I'm an Horde player, kek)
+Kranto kek
I remember timing my massive waves of attacks using waves of paladins and rangers to when this song starts.
Very this. I dunno if the room's just cold, but I got a shiver down my spine as soon as this started. So nostalgic.
It was at that moment, when Anduin fell, Turalyon picked up his Lord's blade and rallied his men to victory with three words : For Sir Lothar!
If not the best, Warcraft II soundtracks were one of the best. Not mentioning the awesome game itself.
Thanks for the upload :D
OMG, i also remeber. Go to ski all the day with my father then, when i went back home all i wanted to do was playing this, we were close to christmas taht was awesome!
The best thing about old games is their great and challenging gameplay. Followed by incredible music that really sticks to your memory for a long time.
omg I used to play wc2 all the time.
After so many years I can still remember the tunes !
best game ever x)
so great listening to those old gamesoundtracks !!! reminds me too much of better times...

Can't stop listening to Human 3 (which starts at 3:35), that's a masterpiece even after 20+ years!
The tune is based on a piece called Bouree by Bach, I recommend you look it up because it’s a good piece.
I played this when I was like 8 and it still sends shivers down my spine.
I remember playing games like hexen 2 with this in the background because i never discovered that you could change it to the igame music and just had it set to CD music, which was warcraft II
3:34 Definitely, by far, my favorite music from this game. This song is absolutely magnificent!!
It has been 14 years since this game came out.
And yet it still has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard.
Live on, Blizzard, live on.
"Your orders?"
"At once, sire!"
0:44 on is just crazy. Still gives me chills when the deep bass drops in
I remember saving up for an awesome sound system to blast this music while I played in my recliner in front of my computer. Good times.
So , dramatic, heroic and simply just awesome!
What a shame newer games don´t have that good a music anymore.
I enjoyed playing this game, brings back a lot of good memories...

thanks for correcting me, haven't played enthusiastically in over course of 3 years :)
I must say I have one found 1 video of live Orchestra covering Warcft II! The music is epic!

Absolutely. It sets such a great mood for the game.
this brought me back to the good old days...
I can't remember any track from WC III, though I play it almost every day, but human theme from WC II is forever in my heart.
awesome memories.. they dont make games like this anymore... nor the music..

beautiful action, yours... Beautiful soundtracks!
Thanks, good job!
For some reason this makes me think of covert operations in the dark, like a small army sneaking up through the forest to a sleeping enemy camp.
Depends on how you rip it. If you still have the game disk and you can play the tracks directly with a CD player and this is the order.
this is A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
10/10 to the composer

I stopped playing a while ago but the Mist of Pandaria or w/e the expansion was called sounded so dumb.
