  • OMEGA is one of those brands that tend to be beloved more than most brands for those that are lucky enough to say they own one. Yet the question of where to start with the brand certainly is up to the buyer, the question of what the most affordable contemporary OMEGA watch can't be debated the same way.

    39.5mm version of these Omega DeVille Prestige are my favorite. Very versatile size, can be dressed up or down. Absolute sleeper of a watch.

    My wrist is over 7 1/2 inches, I used to only wear 40 mil + case diameters then got my first vintage watch an omega geneve 34 mil. The first week I didn't like it and was tempted to return it, after 2 weeks it was my primary watch, the size actually makes it stand out, it looks more expensive and elegant than my bigger watches, whose size I no longer like, it's strange how the mind works!

    I have 8" wrists and was really into vintage watches when I first started collecting. I think the smallest I had was a 35mm Tudor from the 50's. But, as i moved away from vintage into contemporary designs, my tastes changed and I didn't care for the smaller sizes and eventually sold all my vintage watches. I still don't like huge watches though and usually stay between 40 and 42 mm.

    If it weren’t for your videos showcasing watches for smaller wrists, I wouldn’t have realized the wonderful proportions of smaller watches on my wrist. Now my largest watch is a 40mm which feels large against my 34-38mms. Wonderful content as always!

    Great video you have very good taste. I was going to get this exact same watch and was punching myself deciding between the Deville Prestige or the Aqua Terra stainless steel silver dial. In the end i got the Aqua Terra at 38 mm but i know for sure the prestige is a buy for me in the future.

    I have 7.25in wrist, my grandfather's Omega Geneve is 34mm and I love it, I have some other vintage watches in the range of 33-35mm from Onsa, Duxot and Citizen. I have my Seamaster 300 which is 41mm which is my sweet spot, but the smaller ones are much better for dressier occasions.

    I wore a 42mm Omega for 12 years and earlier this year bought a 40mm Rolex. It felt small for a few weeks but now I love it. I also have a vintage 34mm Tudor which I inherited from my grandfather. At first I thought it was too small to wear but you’re right - after just a couple of wears you get used to the smaller sizes.
    Happy days!

    Until recently I wouldn't consider a watch under 38mm in diameter, but my wife bought me a vintage Seamaster for our anniversary. Its 36mm in diameter and I absolutely love wearing it. It is still a relatively modern size, I dont think I'll go smaller anytime soon, but it did open my eyes to "smaller" watches.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every day wrist watches are small are not seen as large watches. Sports watches have some how convinced people that they need to be wearing a large watch even though they have no need for such a large dial as they are sitting at an office desk.

  • @jkkay477
    @jkkay477 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My 90s-era Constellation (the Manhattan series that Teddy isn’t a fan of) has a 32mm case, which is _tiny_ by today’s standards, but I’ve been very happily wearing it for the past 25-odd years. It’s only recently when I looked for a diver’s watch that I realised how huge modern watches have gotten.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wrist watches are suppose to be small and unassuming. It is ok when you need a large dial for visibility when diving.

    I have a 7.25 wrist and work best with 42 or 43mm... but to your question about smaller watches on larger wrists: I find myself attracted to the more edgy vintage pieces of the 60's and 70's where you have cushion or tv dials that take something that is basically 34 or 36mm and gives it more of a 40mm presence to the eye.

  • @allankleidon6437

    I have about a 7.75 inch wrist and I love wearing sub-38mm watches. Love the vintage Rolexes in 34-36mm size, Tudor Black Bay 36 and my current go-to watch is an Omega Seamaster Co-axial diver Midsize (36.25mm). To put things in perspective for a lot of folks who are all about the larger watches, the original Submariner was about 37mm in diameter.

    Thanks for the nice overview of an under-appreciated model. Since you asked: I wanted a more elegant watch than my Raymond Weil quartz chronograph and have always been interested in Omega. For my first Omega, I got a 1972 C-case Constellation, and I really like it on my 7.5-inch wrist. Maybe it helps that the C-case design visually extends the case in two dimensions, but it makes for a versatile watch that fits easily under a dress shirt.

    On the topic of small watches,
    I'm in my early 20's with a number of watches ranging from 39-44mm and I wanted to see how a small watch would look on my wrist.
    I bought a small 34mm vintage manually wound ancre watch for 30 euros and I love the size and slimness of it.
    Thanks to this cheap try out, I'm in the market for a similarly sized (34-37mm) dress watch at a higher price point (300-500 euros) to replace it
    any thoughts?

    As far as size preferences go, i feel its more like asking what size shirts you wear. It depends on your own dimensions and what fits. A 36mm on my slender wrists looks good, but it might not look good someone with bigger wrists. This is usually the case, unless we're talking about one off concept pieces which are meant to be a certain way like John Mayer's Concept AP chrono. @@chauhanrajput4733 Depends on your wrist size. You said you have a 6 inch wrist, so I think 32mm is okay for a dress watch. But keep in mind that case diameter is not the only factor deciding the watch size. Check lug to lug, case height etc. since you’re asking about Sonata watches, you can easily go to a nearby shop and try one to see which one fits you. No worries. 😊

    Very good review of this watch. I actually have this 36.8mm model (made in 2015), and it's very stylish and attractive. However, I am now having to sell it - but here in the UK, am not having any luck. Many on here seem to like it, but that doesn't seem to be the case in the UK - and it's on at a very reasonable price!

    Regarding its size, you failed to mention that it is available in 39.5 mm as well. In short fellas, if you're turned off by the "small" size of this example, you can get a bigger one.

      Yep...about 8 inches here and a 36 looks like a toy watch, about the size of a dime. Funny thing is I used to wear watches this size when it was the style in early 2000s and earlier...before bigger watches!

      They are totally different watches. It depends what you need. If you are in a dressy environment day to day, I think this would be more appropriate. Otherwise, I would go Tudor black bay. Did a full review on one. I really love them. Probability would be my choice based on lifestyle.
