I've never seen a threaded headset. The upper and the lower headtube race should be pressed. Sometimes it is so hard, but with a tool like this you can safely remove it.
It went together easily in less than an hour. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
Reynault Chevalier Probably. But make sure that your frame is compatible with your fork. It can be 1" or 1 1/8". If u have 1" headtube you won't be able to fit a 1 1/8" fork into that. Thanks for watching
Hi thanks for replying. I never received a reply so fast on here. the thing is that I want to put a better suspension fork on. I have a 26 inch Stowabike folding mountain bike. it has a regular fork housing with the black crown races on the top and bottom. the rst suspension fork can't fit inside unless I remove the crown races. then I know for sure the rst suspension fork can go inside
Reynault Chevalier There's only a few millimeters between 1" and 1 1/8". 25.4 and 28.575. But in bicycle language, it's huge. Crown race is for the bearings. If you remove it, the bearings won't stay in a good position on the fork. You will feel it because the steering won't be as smooth as it should. In my opinion, you shouldn't do that. The best thing u can do is to find a similar fork with 1" threaded neck, and after that, you can use aheadset type converter to make it look more modern, and better, or use it with a classic quill stem. :)
Very helpful thanks mate 👍😀
Thanks for the video. Worked a treat.
Tyvm I made my own tool
thank you again simple and easy
colin whyte Thanks. I appreciate it. :))
My head-set removal tool was a chisel...

@@bikehun4843 ohh , ok2. Thanks a lot mr. I was just afraid to destroy my headtube since if i destroy it i need to biy a whole new frame. Haha

Can you make a video of how you made that headset removal tool?
I think any steel/alloy piece of pipe that is narrower than a fork steerer tube should work
Find a tube/pipe that fits.... use a grinder or saw to flare one end... voila
Use a old seat post 😂anything will work
THANK YOU FOR THIS
now you can put a good fork like an rst or another good brand with a thicker tube
