Doug McClure was an amazing natural gifted actor that didn't get the roles he deserved. damn the Hollywood and it's politics. All these people deserved so much more.
I started watching the Virginian last year and that's all I watch since then. I record all the episodes and enjoy watching each every time. It's my most favorite western tv series now. Thank GOD made me enjoy life through watching the Virginian, among other things, while waiting for HIM.
Marg LG me too. I watch it daily on dvd. My day ain’t right until I see the Virginian and my 33 year old son loves it too. But he makes fun of me cause i am so addicted to James!!!!
Wow ! I love the Virginian so much ! My grandfather and I would watch it and it brings back so many memories !!!!!!!! Tears of glad I was a part of it !!!!!
All great actors. RIP Lee J Cobb and Doug McClure. The first six seasons are all wonderful. Replacing Don Quine with a stiff David Hartman was not an even "trade".
My wife and I discovered the show on Amazon Prime. We are hooked and look forward to watching it everyday. We are on Season 4 now. What a great show, they don’t make them like this anymore. Talented actors, morality messages and great stories.
Ladies of the show still look great.Envious of having such friends, hope when I'm gone I have as fine a friends to speak of me in such a manner.Miss Shore and Miss Rotor, both still heart breakers.A true treat their show still is.Sad for today's television that we must still go back to the 1960's for a good family show with adventure.I will continue to still follow that show to what ever channel totes it.Many thanks for cast and crew.
Rest In Peace James Drury! I had such a crush on you as a kid. My dad and I loved your show. He's been gone now for 38 years. I'm so sad you're gone too. I watch The Virginian everyday still! I love the music!
He just died a few days ago and I was in shock when I found out. My days are not complete if I don’t watch the Virginian, so I made a New Years resolution to watch him everyday. To this day, I have not broken my resolution... and some days I put a Virginian DVD in and let it play all day. I will always love James Drury....By the way my favorite season is season 7!
It's hard to make a good series and harder to make it well for 9 seasons. Kudos. To do both and make a classic television show is rarer. The list of regular actors and even guest stars was amazing. The Virginian could not be made today and still stands as one of the greatest programs ever. RIP Doug McClure.
Greatly missed at these cast reunions, I've been to three and wish Doug could have been there. I did meet his widow, Diane, daughters Tané and Valerie and grand daughter Kayla at his induction into the Hall of Great Western Performers on April 12th, 2014, also his second wife BarBara Luna in Memphis in 2011. She took part in the Virginian discussion panel /Q & A session and had great stories about Doug. I have clips here on TH-cam.
I grew to appreciate and enjoy this show!! One of the best things about the "lockdown" has been the opportunity to watch the Virginian and other TV shows around the time I was born. This was among the best TV theme songs!
SO sad James Drury's gone now....but he'll still be my Top Favorite Cowboy actor of my Top Favorite Western TV Show.....THE VIRGINIAN!!! But I'll still watch the show everyday as usual since the 70s!! It is that great!!! Love all the other actors also!! Its just the greatest TV Western ever with the best actors!! And....happy The Virginian and Trampas are back together again enjoying each others company!!! Heaven is Real!! :-)
If I'm correct,Roberta Shore is the second from the right. I remember seeing her with the Annette serial on The Mickey Mouse Club and then seeing The Shaggy Dog (the original version),where she starred with Annette Funicello, Tommy Kirk,Tim Considine and Fred MacMurray. She still looks good.
My Mom watch the show. I was a little, little girl. But I remember hearing and seeing the intro. Thank you Mom cause I watch it now and I love "The Virginian". I know why you watche it. They are great actors.
I'm disappointed that the person in control of the camera spent too much time showing closeups of Randy Boone sleeping..That was low...Other than that, I really enjoyed this video...
Watched the Virginian from the start 1962, when I was 10years old. I just loved it, especially the theme music and James Drury on that beautiful horse of his (Magnificent) 🤠
I grew up watching this show, always enjoy watching westerns still. I started a few years ago watching all of Gunsmoke, then to Big Valley, on to Bonanza Just in the last month been watching The Virginia. It's too bad that so many people were replaced
I love the Virginian , it is my favorite western and James furry and tramped are my favorites, please continue on I love all the actors and series ! Clara payne
I watch these all the time tape them. I would love to get a hold of Clu. Love him. Now. Please send me a picture signed. But I don’t know how to get a hold of you.
Once again adding the names on the screen would be a wonderful idea for us that don't remember them all...Can someone please post the names from left to right of who is who?? I recognize James Drury, Randy Boon and Clu and that is it...
Left to right from our perspective----Don Quine (Stacy Granger, '66-'68), Sara Lane (Elizabeth Granger, '66-'70), Randy Boone (Randy Benton, '63-'66), Diane Roter (Jennifer Summers, Judge Garth's niece, '65-'66), reunion organizer Boyd Magers, James Drury, Roberta Shore (Betsy Garth, '62-'65), Clu Gulager (Deputy/Sheriff Emmett Ryker, '64-'68), Gary Clarke (Steve Hill, '62-'64).
does anyone remember the original FUGITIVE series? sad that david janssen passed away over thirty five years, or so, ago. but could they not do a reunion for it, all the same? i mean, t he fugitive made way for future stars, did it not?
A fan with a camcorder, I have filmed other Virginian cast reunions the same way, with the camera on a tripod, not sure if he is using one here. There are professional videos available of the Memphis Film Festival, these are shot with a big camera on a tripod, but us fans do our best to share our videos with other fans. Getting a good spot to film from isn't always easy. And batteries can run out, as with Shamiran here.
There are FIVE microphones on the podium (They usually don't have one for each cast member) Don, Sara/ Randy, Boyd Magers, Jim/Roberta, Clu/Gary, you will see them share a microphone. The camcorder has only one, but if the sound system is loud enough, it will pick it up.
Also it can be tiring holding a camera for one or two hours, resulting in slightly shaky or unsteady camera work, which is why I use a tripod. ANY footage of these events is worth watching.
I too, love the Virginian. The man and the show. He was so handsome, had integrity, was a gentleman, and stood up for what was right. He will be missed.
And I want to add that I am so very disappointed in the videographer!!! Grrrr!!! Shame in you to keep focusing in on Randy Boone! Shame on you! You people are the absolute worse people to film such a horrible video. Maybe the people who were there were very aware that Randy was sleeping or nodding off. You certainly didn't have to keep focusing in on him when someone else was talking. Shame On You! This could have been a good video had the audio and videographer had done a better job. You can't hear the actors talking because of the poor audio quality, too much audience laughter. Very disappointing!
Common at these events, there are usually enough for Boyd Magers and up to four guests, the Virginian cast reunions are the biggest they have ever had, twice as many cast members as normal. In Memphis in 2012 they didn't have enough chairs, let alone microphones.
Was Diane Roter the obese lady ? Roberta Shore looks like she could still date Rick nelson on Ozzie and Harriet . i guess Sara Lane was the youthful looking lady .
Naturally they get paid for these appearances, travel expenses, etc,(Jim Drury drives to all these events, nearly 1,300 miles from his home in Houston to Swanton, Ohio, for instance) but really enjoy meeting the fans and are delighted that they are still remembered and that the show is garnering new young fans. Randy is usually more alert than this and may have been tired.
Thy probably get asked the same questions every time at every event as well. Hey it is a long drive and lots of people and any one of them deserve to get tired and take a little snooze... The sad part is instead of focusing on the person talking they are showing us Randy resting his eyes. So what is up with that............ Need a new camera man or woman!!!

I record it too! And watch it everyday!
Same here. I'm a hard core fan and I wasn't even alive when it aired
Wow ! I love the Virginian so much ! My grandfather and I would watch it and it brings back so many memories !!!!!!!! Tears of glad I was a part of it !!!!!
One thing I've noticed, Clu loves to talk!! And I could listen to him for days!!
You were all the best. Love watching the Virginian over and over again. 😘

Doug McClure and James Drury turned me into a wannabe cowboy at 4 ! A true classic in every sense ..... timeless
Yes indeed. What a great team.

I hear you! His memory will always live on!
this is just great...the actors on the Virginian share their world with all of us and that makes them so special.
But they don't share the obscene amount of money they get for just putting on an act.
Clu Gulager had a starring role as Billy the Kid in the excellent western, The Tall Man. Available on DVD. Highly recommended!
It's hard to make a good series and harder to make it well for 9 seasons. Kudos. To do both and make a classic television show is rarer. The list of regular actors and even guest stars was amazing. Sad that Doug McClure couldn't have lived to be a part of this. If I had sore eyes, he'd be a sight for them! Great part of the show and is missed.

Doug should have had his own series , too, Search was the nearest he got, sharing the rotating lead with Hugh O'Brian and Tony Franciosa.
I truly second that.
Great Actors...James Drury, Clu Gallagher, Roberta Shore...RIP Doug McClure, Lee J. Cobb.

One of my favour TV westerns! No now the I come to think about it, it was & still is my favourite tv series ever.

That's a really nice memory, Stella :-)
I'm hooked on the Virginian show watch every day &on Sunday's 🏃 marathon over & over
You tell them, Clu. You could always tell the actors that could actually ride horses from the ones that had to be taught to ride.
Loved The Virginian. Appreciated the values projected.
Thank God for all these beautiful actors and their friendship offscreen.
I'm disappointed that the person in control of the camera spent too much time showing closeups of Randy Boone sleeping..That was low...Other than that, I really enjoyed this video...
Doug McClure
Yeah -- this was hard to watch with the camera shaking and going in and out of closeups and focus
What a great show, watch it still. Love all of them.

I love Clu-Emmett Ryker should have had his own series
Clu co-starred in The Tall Man western (1960-62), easy to find on DVD. One of the best westerns, Clu was Billy the Kid.
I tape every show, love them.
Did you know that, although they looked younger than James Drury, Gary Clarke and Clu Gulager were actually older?

Don Quine was in a episode.
The only stars I see are the ones in the sky; you must be referring to over paid actors that like to see themselves as stars over everybody else...
I loved watching...The Fugitive....A Great Show.
The greatest thriller series ever made.
Who is that big woman on the left?
What happened to Sarah Lane? She is totally unrecognizable here. Her weight gain is unbelievable. She was so fine on the show.
how rude
What does it matter what somebody weighs?
If you really care about somebody it does not matter what they weigh. Why judge somebody so harshly. Are you a perfect person facially and bodily?
Having met Sara three times, I can say that she is a lovely lady still, looks don't matter.
She was fine. I enjoyed watching her. Many folks get heavier when they get older. Some folks don't, but many do.
Me encanta esta serie.. dios los bendiga
Is there a professional recording of this interview?
Who the hell organized this?? ONE MIKE and appalling camera work! It is disrespect for one of the all time great TV casts

Randy seems to be having trouble staying awake.
He is not the only one.
I always liked "Clu," as a little girl...A LOT of those guys.
I will always remember him from 'The Tall Man'. (Don't figure out my age. LOLOLOLOLOL).
Awesome musical score as well
And James Drury ?
At 8:12 is that gentleman really dozing off at his own cast reunion?
NotAboutMe79 he has dementia
