I hate when people don't understand the true meaning of luxury now days everything has to be sporty and fast you can't simply enjoy a "luxury" car without bmw etc throwing a 600hp engine under the hood when it's supposed to be a cruiser not a speed demon

Roman doesn't know the true meaning of "luxury" majority of the people that admire luxury cars buy Lexus because they don't care about how fast 0-60 can get on the highway they love the comfortable smooth 4.7 V8! BMWs may be fun to drive but all it stands for is Bring My Wallet because when those cars break down it literally breaks the bank. Lexus designs there engines to be most reliable to last a lifetime. I am.a proud owner of 2013 Lexus 460L best sedan i have ever driven so far.

I never understand why these reviewers think everyone buys a car to race. It's ridiculous. Most buy cars to have a comfortable driving experience during their daily commute without having to worry about breakdowns on the way. A lot of these reviewers do not speak on behalf of the everyday citizen.

Roman is a complete idiot! He completely misses the point of this car. It isn't supposed to be for boy-racer wannabees like him. That's what Mustangs or Chargers or M5s are for. In actuality, it's all about one word...refinement. This is not to be mistaken with the word boring. A Honda Accord is boring because it has a complete lack of personality and could basically be considered an appliance. On the other hand, the LS is not boring as it instills a feeling of excitement in people like myself who appreciate the extremely high level of performance, luxury, and reliability exuded by the car. Quite frankly, I would challenge anyone to find a full-size luxury sedan that is more well-rounded than the LS. In my view, none of the competitors, such as the Equus, 7-Series, S550, or A8, even come close. Sure, some of them are superior in specific areas like price and handling, but the fact remains that the LS excels in virtually every important area, especially reliability, whereas the others do not.

    • @elisicamost5959

I don't understand how someone who reviews cars for their job can call this car boring. Either they don't know what they are talking about or they are German car zealots.
Since they can't find anything negative with this car, they decide to call it boring.
Who want's to buy a boring car ? Nobody. Basically they are trying to destroy this car's image and bring it down.

Demographically speaking the typical LS Lexus buyer is almost 60 and makes around 400 some grand a year. They're probably relatively close to the typical S class buyer. These are just not cars meant to be exciting overall but as a 2 time LS owner who's about to turn 40 years old I can say that it is the single most reliable car I've ever owned or driven and once you figure out its quirks it becomes a great daily. I drive a 2011 Sport with 3 mode air suspension and Brembo brakes. The transmission is the super quick Direct Shift from IS F. The rev matching downshift is flawless and always puts you in the powerband. The upshifts with the paddles are faster than the vaunted ZF 8 speed. The brakes are huge and it stops from 60 in a little over 100 feet. It's simple to keep it right at peak power. And all the while you have the killer ML sound. For 80k.

I'm a 31 year "young" guy and all I want is a comfortable and quiet ride, room, good sound system, and something that presents a positive professional statement. Tested one today and it is by far the best car I have driven out of about 10 different "comfort cars" out there. I am waiting for them to get one in with the Mark Levinson sound system and then I'll be set.
Fast is nice, super unique styling is great, but they aren't nearly as practical for the long term. I'll wait until I can afford to have a second car for fun to get something geared towards the "younger" crowd. I've switched between cars too much and really need to stick to something that has what I really want and need MOST of the time and will be practical long into the future. Then get something later when and if I can that gives me the things I want SOME of the time, like a convertible, something fast and furious, or something flashy.

@@BrightsonDavid im 23 and i own a 2013 awd mostly base model and its been fantastic so far. it has less than 80k on it so it runs great. its not a sport car by anymeans and it is a very heavy sedan. however, once inside you forget about all that because it is so quiet and comfortable, 0-60 for sure leaves something to be desired but its much faster in the top end. it handles speed better than any other car I have driven, you cant really tell the difference between going 60 and 80.

***** well I went from a BMW 5 series to the Lexus GS, and one big part was the lower maintenance. It's not the fact about being able to afford it or not... It's the fact that I like to drive the car that I bought. My Bimmer was constantly in the BMW dealer being worked on. Every other month. I was scared to drive long distance. I didn't feel secure and confident that it was reliable for me. I love the way my Bimmer handled but other than that I'm very disappointed at how my car wasn't reliable! My Lexus GS on the other hand! Is beautiful drives nice and all I do is regular up keep and maintenance. My car is and feels very reliable. I love lexus. I miss my Bimmer and wish I had better times but i got tired of driving the dealers loaners. I'm a lexus guy now.

Exactly! I made a huge mistake in the summer of 2018. I bought a 2013 BMW X5 with 94,000 miles, within eight months I sunk nearly $2500 into it. Couldn’t sell it privately, wound up trading it in for my beautiful 2013 Lexus ES 350 with only 30,000 original miles. Now has 36,000 miles after one year and it’s just simply the best car I’ve ever owned. Most Dependable reliable car on the road today for the $.
I paid roughly $18k and and got a four-year extended warranty which is strictly peace of mind, in case anything like electronic goes bad.
If you don’t lease a BMW you’re out of your mind. Anything used over 50,000 miles and five years old is an absolute money pit !!

Nathan is right. This car is really comfortable and easy to drive. Main thing is that this Lexus LS460 has Toyota's legendary reliability that the German automakers cannot match, that's why that engine is hidden under the plastic. I am a college student and this Lexus LS460 is my 2nd dream car(1st is LFA)

Here's the problem: Car journalists have killed traditional luxury cars like this. 90% of people looking for a luxury car would love this thing. However car journalists are bored by it because they drive so many different cars they're always looking for something new and exciting. So when they get a car like the LS they say it sucks and people don't buy them. So car makers respond by turning their luxury cars into sport car wannabes. I don't want a luxury car that handles like a 911. If I wanted that I would buy a 911. I want a luxury car that focuses 100% on luxury. The LS460 is one of the best luxury sedans. No performance BS, pure luxury and a naturally aspirated V8. The new LS has a twin turbo V6 which isn't terrible but the V8 is so much better. Plus the interior and exterior styling of the new LS is too sporty and fake.

My dad bought an 05 S-Class and my mom bought an 04 LS430. The LS looks and drives like the day she bought it, and the S-Class is just...tired. The LS hasn't had a single problem of any sort in 175,000 Miles either. I hear you on road presence, but I would take an LS at the drop of a hat.

Not surprised you fell asleep in the back seat, I've had many of Uber customers from the airport fall asleep in the back seat, they said it's so comfortable back there. So glad my Lexus could give them a relaxing ride home after their trip. One day I had to go sit back there just to see if they were telling me the truth... They were. One day maybe I'll ask my wife to drive just to see how comfortable the drive is.

I'm 28 and I just got a 2015 f sport. Love it. I wanted something quiet and comfy which economy cars do not really give you. And I wanted the tech and the presence that this car indeed has. You just don't really see it because Lexus is a young car company and is still in the process of establishing their roots.

I agree with nathan that Lexus is more focus on luxurious and actually LS is a fun car to drive, if compare to Germany's opponents, Lexus could be lose in the performance, some exciting drive functions, etc. But, Lexus LS is a good, nice looking car, if i am a sucessful business man, I would choose LS for the luxurious and comfortable :D

How exactly are we anti-Toyota and Lexus? We gave our highest "Buy it" rating to three of the four Lexus cars we reviewed over the last 2 weeks. We also posted a total of 5 new Toyota/Lexus car videos recently. In fact we are verging on becoming a Toyota fan club. Good Bye and good luck finding all Toyota fan boy channel!

Have to agree with Nathan. The car is engineered to be a luxury car to expect it to be as exciting as a porsch 911 is about as stupid as expecting a Ferrari to be as useful as a minivan.
Vehicles are engineered by the manufacturers for a purpose and I think lexus has hit nail on the head with the ls.

I dunno about it being an "older mans car" I'm 25 & I'm planning on getting a '14-'15 this year?
If you want to slot it into some category, then here it is: "The car calmly chewing up mile after mile of road - be it ice, snow, dirt, water, etc. - with a driver that feels at peace as he commutes to work with silky NA V8 glory"
Long story short: it's stupid reliable, has real full-time AWD, isolates you better than any other sh*t-box could, comes with a reliable D-4S V8 & doesn't require you to become best friends with your local Merc. service manager. What else do you want from a car?
P.S. - Plastic or no, mine will never see a dealer - I want mine to last =)

Mate these cars are for refined drivers and passengers not for the race car enthusiast. Have you ever owned a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar or a lexus. I have owned Lexuses for over 13 years. I work as a Limo driver daily and the Lexus is above the others in luxury, comfort and presence. We have one LS430 in the fleet that has done 650,000 kms and still hasn't had the bonnet lifted, just oil changes and wheel bearings every 150k. BMWs at same mielage are in the wreckers after engine rebuilds, transmission rebuilds front suspension rebuilds etc etc. Its not meant to be a boy racer. I also own a 9sec 67 Camaro that I race. Don't try and combine one car to do 2 things. As an Aussie you talk shit.

Robin if a car has 186 hp and accelerate from 0-60 in 5.4 sec don't excite you what do you expect to excite you!!! well i drove one of these cars and i will tell you what i felt, it's more sporty than Mercedes S-class which i drove also. and if you confuse from the front of the Lexus cars, you better be more confused with German cars specially Audi which has same front design in all his models. thanks

Lexus LS holds incredible value unlike bmw and Mercedes. This Lexus with 100k miles is priced well over 20 grand. A bmw 7 series or a class Benz is worth 18-20 grand tops with 100k miles yet you pay close to 100 grand for an overpriced luxury which depreciates in value like crazy. I’ll pick Lexus over German engineering any day

Roman, you did good. It is not a matter of being bias. What is important is the honest opinion you have for the car. Every car reviewer could say good things about the car and not gripe about it and everyone would love it. But that would be so wrong. I as a car enthusiasts would definitely want to hear the truth whether it is something good about the car or bad. We as the consumers are paying quite a hefty sum for it, obviously we would wanna know the pros and cons of the car. Excellent review.

I agree with you Mayuresh, the XJ truly deserves to be mentioned and it's one of our favorite luxury sedans. Our reviews are based on driving experience and not long term; as such, running costs, maintenance and overall value is far too subjective for our channel. We don't do long-term - - yet. We don't rank vehicles in our reviews other than our "buy-it, lease-it, rent-it and forget-it" TFLCar scale. We simply cannot cram that much info into our s. hort format. Thanks for watching!
