Calvin when i was 17 my older brother was going through a divorce and with the settlement money he bought me a 90 spec series 2 graphite grey rs turbo and I'd only just passed my test , he also paid 4k for my insurance , i was absolutely over the moon , brotherhood is a special bond , god bless you and merry Xmas great content as always
*I love people who love and have passion for old cars, i aint into all these supercar TH-camrs as much as it is to have one would be cool but i like the oldskool cars 90's and before* (EDIT) - And merry xmas calv to you and your family man :) hope you have a brill day
Amazing to finally see a proper 90's classic on a TH-cam channel. I had a G reg and a J reg GTE back in the day. I regretted selling them. The Champion edition was always the dream for me, sadly never managed to get one. I've moved to Australia now and they didn't have them here so no chance of finding one. Amazing video, brought back so many memories of me and my mate who also had a GTE. What a great brother you are. Merry Christmas from Australia to you and your Family Cal.
My dad used to have an Evo 6 RS and he never wanted to sell it, but a change in finances forced the sale. He always remembers that car and compares everything to it! 😂 If I had the money, I'd buy it for him even though he wants an s class. 😂
i used to have a mk1 gte , with a courtney turbo conversion on it , was a weapon back in the day , wish i still had it now ...thanks for bringing back some memories .Merry Christmas Calvin .
I wanted a gte in 1993 when I was 19 but insurance wouldn't touch me so ended up with a Audi coupe gt5s which then cost £1500 to insure, loved that car and miss it to this day. Memories.
A brothers love is a brothers love. You truly are an absolute top man Calvin & you and your brother & super lucky to have that bond. Real heart warming stuff man!
Here I am smack dab in the middle of a moral dilemma Randal, You tore us down to shreads with that little escapde of yours, You and your Elenore. But I understand what brought you back here...
Bloody hell Calv you can tell he’s your brother you look like bloody twins. What a brilliant thing to do for him. You are on it mate! Merry Christmas to you and the family 😎
The "Red Top" was one of the best engines of the late 80s and through to the mid 90s. Cosworth designed, 150bhp was way underestimated. I know, I had 2 in Cav GSi's. Currently running a '97 Calibra SE7v6 Auto and loving it.
I had a champion edition as my first car back in 2000. What a car, 16v, Remus exhaust, the digi dash, the leather interior. Anyone who had one and drove it hard definitely knew about lift off oversteer 😂😂😂. Oh and Calvin’s right, it was a magnet for thieves, mine got half-inched after several attempts.
I’ve got a GTE 🙌 Revisiting the cars of your youth is thoroughly recommended. They bring back so much nostalgia. Great to see this car on your channel.
That’s not just a GTE! That’s the champion edition!! Even more special, a friend of mine had one back in the day with a Courtney motorsport turbo conversion! Your brothers a lucky guy haha 👍🏽
That’s dash takes me back some years, we used to love the valvers!! Rapid in a straight line but not so great around the corners, all that said epic car and epic engine!!! They were the ep3 of the 90s ✌️
That took me back not sure how to explain it but when your brother was driving you could tell he was driving. Focus , feeling the pedals, listening to the engine ,feeling the engine being involved in the drive emotionally . I need a classic car from my youth in the 90s. 2025 now has a plan 👌
Love how he wanted to drive it straight away Calvin got a lot of patience some of us wanna jump straight in😂happy Christmas lads hope you and your family have a good one!❤
an idea for you Calvin.....why not do a video on doing a CarVertical check on all the old vehicles you've owned, see where they are now, are they still driving? if you can remember all the reg's lol
I brought a white mark 1 astra gte for my wife real cheap as a project but it was a complete rot box so had to give up on it. I would love to buy her one now as we have been married for 26 years and it was always the one that got away but they are alot of money now.
I bought an S5 once from BCA Walsall online for around sat £6k. When I collected it, wow it had a Supercharger fitted, the guy had spent £17k on it, it was awsome. I retailed it for around £17.5k So a nice earner as we say Calv 👏
Here in South Africa, they were Opel Kadett GTE & GSI ... GSI was my dream but was to expensive, had to settle for the 1.6 GLE... My 1st brand new car 1986.
I had 2 GTEs back in the day. B877MSG and C505JGA. Seen the latter one years after I sold it on the M8 in Glasgow. I nearly had a heart attack! It looked absolutely mint ❤
My Dad had the old Rover v8 as well. The hood and wing were a different colour lol. He also had a H reg Astra Van for work that he insured me on so i could do deliveries for him. It was bright yellow ex Hella brand van. I used to put my mates in the back rolling around. I remember pulling the handbrake up and it coming off into my hand as the cable had detached. Old cars have good memories for sure
Always loved the GTE. My first job when I was 20 I had a 1.6L (F reg) in black and sometimes I would drive the managers SRI, GTE and then his GSI occasionally. Vauxhalls have a place in my heart, this GTE is amazing.
I had a astra gte 20 years old when I was 19. I love these cars and it would be a dream to own another one. Love it. And that is one clean special edition car as well.
I said to my mate in a car show in Manchester gmx 40years ago there never gona go old because there that nice .i literally thought they were the best car on the planet buzzing for ye bro Calvin good on you budy.
Nice one Calvin, I owned a 1991 (white) 16V back in the day (showing my age - haha). Amazing car, and loved to see your brother enjoying this old classic!
I’m local to you guys and had gte’s and cav gsi’s and like yourselves I lust for another one again for those memories again. Big up Calvin for treating your brother for such a great Xmas present. Oh i remember going to a guy who broke Vauxhalls on midland road we used to go to years ago too. 😂👍🙏🎄
If that is the original plate, it's quite likely that one was registered in Luton as the plate is H301DTM and the TM part is the code for Luton on prefix and suffix plates. I had a couple of standard GTE 16Vs back in the mid 90s and they are cracking cars!
Very nice car! I have a mate that's a bit of a professor at getting big power out of those C20XE/LET motors. His last one was pushing over 650hp, and it was his daily driver. Awesome old school machines.
My old school teacher had one of these always remember it looking amazing in the car park exactly the same colour as well ,top example you got there fair play
a group of my mates were putting these Red tops in Nova's.. having to reweld the engine bay as the spot welds were ripping open etc.. good times..and rear tyer rub is the noise of my late teens 😂
My uncle had 1 in same spec. He had it for a couple years. He moved to Brentwood, and after about a week he woke up and it was gone 😂 Essex boys were all over these
Definitely a nostalgic video. South Africa made a homologation version of the GSI version called the "Superboss". We still own one for more than 30 years. Awesome go carts😅
MY BMW E38 is well respected in Manchester if i drive on a saterday or sunday in the City ,The Cameras come out its peppermint green BMW E38 .I still have my Senitor 3ltr 24 valve ,dont use it a lot .
I have fond memories of my dad taking me to pick up a brand new red Astra GTE to replace his Rover 213, and I was in awe of the digital dash! That GTE was stolen and recovered 3 times, and my dad decided to let it go after the 3rd time… sad times.
My uncle has a J reg burgandy GTE redtop 99% sure its a courteany sport, I would do anything to buy that car being a young lad seeing that car sat in a garage all of its life.
Hi Calvin, I’ve owned approx 6 champions 250 versions of these between 1997-99 and approx 15 gte 16v all the colours too from the mid 90s! I have the Vauxhall launch posters of the champion stating the garages they were only sold in if you would like one you could frame for the wall. Paul
Gorgeous looking Astra and a Champion too. I had a mk2 Astra 2.0i exclusive 170 cabriolet and it was fitted as standard with those wheels too, it was a special pacific blue too, similar to caribic blue but a bit lighter
I noticed this in the background of the last video 👀 my dad had a grey mk2 GTE on a D plate when I was a kid and I loved it! It was a very sad day when he sold it
Calvin the Father Christmas that just keeps giving great Planet of Dreams prizes and now even surprising his own brother with an awesome GTE gift, enjoy your Xmas Calvin ❤🎊🎈😊
Back in 1991 on My 21st birthday I was bought a day's driving at Castle Donnington race track in a vauxhall Astra GTE 16V fond memories of an iconic Car ❤🔥🔥🔥
My first car was a 1.3s Opel Kadett E i loved that little nugget. I kinda regret i had to sell that. It had like 130tkm on it. Previous owned had installed a lowering kit on it and 15" RH Classic wheels and it looked good imo.
Such a great brother to gift a gte 🎉 I'm 45 I had a astra gte blue but it was the convertible so only had 2l 8 v, But my next car was a mk3 astra Gsi which was the early model which had the 2litre red top ! Merry Christmas guys brill video. You have come along way congrats 🎉 I remember my dad had a frontera in this colour in the very early 1990s brings back memories
Our family was full of Vauxhalls, my Dad had a Carlton gsi 24v, my 2nd eldest brother had a basic 2.0i 8v Calibra, my step-brother had an Astra GTE 16v and my brother jus tolder than me had a Nova GTE all at the same time.

Same as you and Leon, as soon as I see that reg I knew the car it’s so weird but it’s been around Luton area for years so makes sense, is the one still rotting away on the drive way by bungalow shop? 24:01 grew up on this exact road in the 90’s that car your in was so fitting back then! Literally outside the house you are now used to be a white Astra GTE 👌🏼
Beautiful car, I've always been a Ford guy but I'm realising more and more that I've always been a bit of a Vauxhall guy as well I love the old Nova's, Cav's, Calibra's, Astra's, Corsa's, Chevettes I wonder why that's rubbing at the back it doesn't seem too low it seems adequate, maybe needs a new rear shock or something?

Nothings better than seeing the love between two brothers ❣️☝️👊
Wholesome to the point of humbling, the dynamic with these two.
A battle hardened brotherhood.
So this is the reason the car was in the background of the previous video
What i thought exactly
Me too!! And was thinking what a car and possibly the best colour too!
