That 3 is one of the best looking hatchbacks out there, I’m a big car guy but I just like it, also, that red paint is just stunning! A pain in the butt to match if messed up, but great!
I have a 2019 just like this and I love it. It's the only car I've ever had with no little annoyances. Literally nothing irritates me about it. It just works. And it looks awesome.
I've owned my 2023 Turbo 3 hatchback for over 3 months, and I absolutely love this car. I wasn't a big fan of the C-pillar being wide, but it's grown on me a lot. This is the best car I've ever bought.
I love the 3. It's somehow so clean elegant and beautiful, devoid of excessive unneccesary sharp angular lines. The red helps the cars look much better also. Only thing I'm not liking too much in this 3 hatch is the thick C pillar. It's like they tried to make it thick like the Golf, but angled too far foward, and the upwards part on the door doesn't help me like it better also. Can you do a re-design trying something else with the C-pillar?
I have the 2020 3 hatchback in the same color, it’s still pretty much the same and I love it. The dial is way easier to use than a touch screen. I find myself not having to take my eyes off the road as much and the screen doesn’t get dirty. The color also gets lots of compliments from strangers.
I like the rotary knob too. Idk why the system gets dragged by reviewers. Mazda got it exactly right - the dial is right there near your hand - no reaching for the screen.
I bought this exact car in white in May. It is an absolute blast to drive with the manual transmission. Plenty of horsepower, fantastic handling, excellent gas mileage and drop dead gorgeous! I’m glad I got one with the MT before that option becomes obsolete…Zoom Zoom! 😊
No sure when you stopped SKETCHING cars (looks like about 3 months ago) but your redesigns, tweaks, what would extinct model look like today, and speculating what next generation vehicles will look like was what made this channel great. Maybe you're getting more views now that you're doing reviews, but I miss the sketching part of "TheSketchMonkey". I'd love to see at "Here's what I think the next gen 4Runner will look like" video.........please?!
I feel the same way but I appreciate that this probably doesn’t take as much time and effort to make and he’s probably enjoying this much more, it’s unfortunate but that’s how these things go
Does anyone else miss the content we used to come here for??? I don't mind seeing car reviews on his Bembli channel, but I want this channel to be devoted to restyling and mashups. 😢
Im so bummed the sedan doesn't come in a manual transmission. I have an '08 mazda 3 with 196k miles, original clutch! Lookout at the '24, but $$$$$ I test drove an automatic, so im glad you made this video so i can see the shifting.
I got mine 3 years back with machine grey and I love it. I prefer MT than AWD. Soul red crystal is beautiful but it would be nightmare to match if accident happened.
Have watched the (always nice looking) 3 improve each generation and feel that mazda has attained design perfection for a hatch with this model. It's so good that I have a dream of borrowing the tooling and assembling them in Sri Lanka as soon as the model is superseded, especially the three 'X' versions (with 2.0 sky X AWD) from Japan. True modern classics. I believe Sri Lanka needs to finally enter the car assembly market properly and I want mazda to be the first to truly enter with the investment of a proper factory and training, with the mazda 3 being the first model. And for selfish reasons, also the CX-90 inline six. Taking the dream one step further, I would love it if mazda then enters a drivetrain technology sharing agreement with BMW to produce/install the K1600 bike engine into the mazda 3 for inline-six motoring enthusiasts to have something interesting and different. They could modify it slightly for cars and cost saving with changes such as a cast iron block etc. Being 1.6 L, it will also be exempt from luxury and semi-luxury road tax. Sri Lanka and Japan have been friends for a long time and I'm proud of this friendship because I love Japan and their auto industry. Sri Lanka helped Japan re-enter the world arena after WW2 and Japan has since been very kind and helpful to Sri Lanka. I'm so excited with the decisions that mazda makes with their vehicles that I hope at least part of my dream comes true. I'm so curious to see how they can better this design. I would say that it's nearly impossible to do so but when you consider the concept designs for the stillborn maz6 etc. you just know that mazda can do it. Often, to have models assembled in certain countries, a certain percentage of the vehicle needs to be produced locally and I think this can be managed if the interior, wheels/tyres, batteries and other accessories are produced locally. cheer to mazda and the mazda3 hatch. may us enthusiasts continue to be impressed and excited for many years to come.
It's beautiful looking to me and I've made up my mind to get a mazda 3 with manual with black paint. Now to find one. They're not common at dealerships.
I love that cars design but I test drove one a couple of years ago and I didn't like it because I'm a bit claustrophobic and the interior (Although it's pretty high quality in there) is pretty dark and not bright at all because of that C-pillar being so huge. I didn't feel well in that car but for someone that doesn't have that same problem as me it's a very nice car to have.
Turbo reduces engine life. Naturally aspirated is the best way for longevity. I miss the 3.5 litre v6 engines, v8 even better. Today we get Battery cars that look and feel like our toys from santa claus in 1980.
I personally think this design philosophy near the C-pillar works better on the Mazda3 Hatchback than it does on the CX-90 since it's a smaller package. However, in my opinion, this massive red C-pillar on the Mazda3 Hatchback looks as if it's adding visual weight to the rear from certain angles, specifically from a side view. Part of me wonders what the car would look like if the C-pillar was black, while also having the entire roof be blacked out as well. Another thing I would change is to remove that small quarter window and have the entire passenger window be a single piece of glass. Obviously, that would make the piece more expensive to repair, but I think it would look so much better if that little quarter window wasn't there. Regardless, this is still a beautiful design from Mazda.
PLEASE, YOUNG PEOPLE, buy more manual transmission cars and skip the EV/hybrids which will be very expensive to repair. Bring back the manual. If you can play a video game then you can learn to drive a manual. You'll be zipping around town in 3 days tops. I learned back in the 1980s on a Nissan Hardbody pickup when we had no TH-cam videos and I had to sort of figure it out as I went along. I stalled at some lights more than a few times, but I got the hang of it fairly fast. Now you can watch YT videos to get the basic concept down, so it's just a matter of doing it.
I've had my 2021 turbo hatch long enough that I've gotten used to the control wheel and buttons for the screen, but there is a learning curve for sure. Having said that, I dont see any other way Mazda makes such a simple and elegant looking dash without doing it this way. The entire car truly looks like it came out of an Italian design studio such as Pininfarina, but with the piece of mind it has Japanese engineering and build quality under the skin😂 The only and only thing I would change if possible is having the 6 speed manual or at least Mazda's new 8 speed auto. The 6 speed works fine for normal tooling around, but it most definitely blunts the potential of having a class leading 320 ftlbs torque. With that much torque and AWD for a car this size the 0-60 should be close to 5 seconds, instead it takes about 6 seconds because the torque converter auto doesnt shift quickly enough and seems to need at least one more gear ratio. First gear seems to be only for getting the car moving and it goes straight to 2nd almost instantly, and then 6th is a tall overdrive for fuel economy.
I just got this car a few days ago in the same color, it's sooo drop dead gorgeous im always staring at it. Went with the sedan tho, cuz hatch looks like a rolling egg imo 😅
i almost bought the red in my 2019 but changed it to polymetal gray. sometimes i wish i had the red though. this car looks ridiculous in red when ive seen it on the road.
I have mazda 3 2021 premium with manual transmission. Mazda 3 2019 onwards with manual transmission is a FWD. It is not AWD. My mazda 3 2021 is the best vehicle with manual transmission. NO other car company has ever put adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, 360 degrees camera, lane assist, rear cross traffic automatic braking, radar cruise control and everything that you can find in a car with automatic transmission, they are all incorporated in this car! Somehow, mazda has done it on their manual transmission. Subaru can't do it. Toyota can't do. Hyunda, Kia, Volkswagen, etc. My mazda 3 2021 premium with manual transmission is the best on it's class. Nobody can beat it. Even high end cars cannot match the safety feature that premium manual transmission has. On adaptive cruise control, it slows down and speeds up on its own. It stays on it's lane. It keeps a distance from the cars it's following. It notifies you if any car in the front or back is getting too close to you. If it needs to lower the gear, it will remind you on the Heads Up Display!! The system will keep it on a specific gear, until it tells you to change it. I have learned to be on the same page, when the systems needs to change the gear. I know when, so i don't wait for it to tell me. NO car company has ever done such impressive features in a car with manual transmission! 2022 onwards. mazda messed it up by adding cylinder deactivation, which i think, is a bad idea. Thank God, my 2021 doesn't come with the deactivation.
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you on the black wheels. When the wheels are black it's hard to make out the wheel design IMO. Since they contribute hugely to the overall look of the car I prefer them to be a lighter colour just so you can notice the details better.
I agree. Chrome rims with a manual would look so much better. IMO I like their Cx 50 as well but the black plastic trim looks so bad. Overall Mazda is well on their way to being the best automaker, if not already.
That’s correct. It has 191 hp and 184 ft lb torque for all of the 2023 2.5 NA models. Just picked up my 2023 2.5 S Premium with the 6 MT a couple weeks ago. First Mazda I’ve owned. Really enjoying it.
I have to disagree on black wheels - they just create black holes on cars and a detachment from the ground. A dominant trend has been - and not just Mazda - to have high window sills and thus, a small greehouse. It is a claustrophobic driving experience and, front the outside, decapitates the driver - it's funny and a little unnerving to see just a driver's head in the window. Other than that and the giant c-pillar blind spot, it is a cool looking car. Oh, and yes, that Mazda red is stunning.
It also feels lighter and sportier. Designwise, I like this generation better, but if I was given a choice between one or the other, I'd go with the previous generation as it really is the total package.
mazda has said they had to beef up the automatic transmission in order to handle the turbo so unfortunately they cant just move it over, and Mazda is a relatively small brand compared to honda or toyota so they cant expend resources as easily for something that really will only sell to a niche group. as disappointing as it is i don't blame them for making that decision
If they made this in a 2-door fastback version with the 250hp turbo engine and charged $28-32,000, I would have bought that instead of the M240i. IMO, the Kodo design is only fully realized in the Mazda 3, as derived from the Kai concept. I'd love if they evolved the Mazda 3 design into something sportier that isn't a Miata and truly differentiates itself from the 86/BRZ boring design.
THis car seems to be polarizing whoever I talk to. I personally can't stand the hatchback version. The side profile, C pillar and the lack of shoulder line really makes it odd. The way light reflects off of the doors and above the rear fender is weird... doesn't go well with sharp nose of the car and some of the rest sharp features. Also, the graphics (healights and taillights) are too small compared to the empty area around them. When you view the car straight from the back the shoulder line is a straight line up from the roof down to the fender, which is soo not-dynamic and boring. She looks weak and boring becuase of this. Need some fender flares. Compare it to the previous generation which had those beautiful fender arches around both front and rear wheels, which was gorgeous. If You could combine this generation's graphics and some features with the lines of the previous one, it would be a winner. The sedan is a bit better because of the shoulder line. And let's not mention Mazda 6, which is just perfect with those fender arches.. so dynamic, luxurious, nimble.. yet elegant. This is my view, but I know many who agree with me. Please don't start comment wars because I don't care.
No mazda3 comes with a 12-volt outlet for 2024. They removed it on all trims. That’s a deal breaker. That and the cheap rear torsion beam suspension and price increase over ‘23 models. Hold off, a new design is on its way.
Front half = Lovely lines and proportions throughout. Back half = Ugly as sin. Ill proportions throughout. And the window for the back seat passenger is an insult. No view of passing landscapes. Its like two different cars totally mismatched spliced together.
I believe My jacked up CX30 looks far nicer........But the Drivers seat is Killing Me.......Killing Me to the point I will have to buy something else..........Paul
Torsion beam rear suspension is cheap, rear seating on hatch is cramped for taller folks, poor blind spot visibility, that rotary knob infotainment system in 2023 is outdated, touchscreen please!!! Poor trade in/resale values. Stay away folks better options from the Civic and Corolla........
2023 Corolla is the cheapest feeling car I have ever sat in. Test drove it and rode noise so disgusting. Cvt transmission is terrible. Mazdas are driver cars. The Corolla felt like a power wheels from Walmart.
That 3 is one of the best looking hatchbacks out there, I’m a big car guy but I just like it, also, that red paint is just stunning! A pain in the butt to match if messed up, but great!
Every car has the paint code located somewhere on the car, under the hood or in the driver side door jamb.
Every time I see a soul red Mazda on the road, I’m stunted... it’s truly one of the most beautiful paints I’ve ever seen!
Agreed!
Stunned too.

I test drove one in 2021 for myself, and another one Saturday when I went car shopping with a friend. The interior is beautiful.
I love the 3. It's somehow so clean elegant and beautiful, devoid of excessive unneccesary sharp angular lines. The red helps the cars look much better also.

I love Mazda's turn signals. Really cool!

the mazda 3 hatch is ugly........

No doubt that Mazda design is leading in the industry, attention to detail and build quality is premium and non premium price
Mazda needs to bring the Skyactiv X engine over to the US or at least make a powerful and efficient hybrid setup for the 3/CX-30.

Well it's inspired by the C pillar of the 1970s 5 door 323 hatch
@@Nickoboss29 It works better on a boxy design like the 323 hatch.
Why is the Manuel missing 57 hp and awd?
The BP platform Mazda3 manual only came in FWD. AWDs only get paired with an automatic.

I tried to configure a AWD with manual, the mazda website does not accept
What else did he did he screw up..yes tubo is not with manual it ain't a GTI

There has to be something they could have done to open that bloated rear side. It’s a mail slot window area. Would you consider Sketching something?
This is the only video review that shows a clean Mazda all the others videos I’ve seen their reviews are on a dirty Mazda
The reason the turbo does not come with a stick is that Mazda does not want sell too many of them!

2023 has 191 hp not 186. Unless the manual trims don’t get the upgrade for 2023

0-60 is more like 7.5 seconds which is not that bad. I don't know where he's getting the 6.9 0-60.
It is actually 191 horsepower not 181… Just sayin’😊
The front half 10/10. The back half looks like a toddler drew it.
Shit I almost forgot how to drive manual shift car…
except thats not the turbo AWD version.
No sharp line but itsn't melted cheese either. Nice
😂
sedan is better.. bright interior, more space and visibility in the back, bigger trunk, bigger and more serious looking car
The Mazda3 hunchback looks odd & off-putting IMO to put it nicely. But, Eye of the Beholder & all that.
The horsepower is 191, not 181. You consistently get specs wrong in your videos.
Yeah, he says 186 at the beginning, which is the prior years' hp.
The rear looks like an Alfa and it absolutely does not match the rest of the car😅
Yep , looks a bit like a Brera
I luke one thing, it is manual, other than that nope
The GTI is like 10 grand more expensive.
Not for that price
First
Awd only in automatic transmission NOT MANUAL
191 HP.
a lil too hunch-y in the back to be “stunning”
191 hp
Looks like horrible visibility out the back.
I believe My jacked up CX30 looks far nicer........But the Drivers seat is Killing Me.......Killing Me to the point I will have to buy something else..........Paul
Interesting. I didn't drive this for long, wonder if I'd have the same issue on longer trips
It is not a pretty car.
For you...
