Long wall of text: My own two cents on the R601
So got mine, and yes externally it is one of my favourite airsoft pistols and shooting wise, very very snappy for a Green Gas even compared to some TM guns.
However, I must've hit the short straw in some of the internals
. There has been known QC issues here and there.
The leaf spring from what I can tell was a bit on the iffy side and the trigger disconnect misligned easily (causing it to turn into a bonafide machinepistol) and the spring in the knocker valve also misaligned very VERY easily. Luckily I had spare parts from a WE Hi Capa I neglect to use and turned said WE into a display piece. I also preemptively changed the hammer, I've heard that the Jag Precision/Army Armament one one is hit and miss according to some reviewers who used it in extensive tests and can snap, not experienced it yet but be warned if you don't have spare parts.
On the plus side, out of the box it is pretty gas efficient for a metal gun, can clear 50+ rounds with the magazines, maybe more if I had warmed them. 45 rounds on rapid strings (and I'm talking rapid) and the slide lock is very reliable due to an extended tab and the positive springs in Army Hi Capa Mags, about 99% of the time it locks back on last round where as I've had to modify slide locks on WE and AW guns to ensure they do. You may struggle to power stroke it initially on slide lock, but a small nitpick since I don't use it. I personally don't like the extended magazine release but it works very well if you're looking for it.
Trigger is decent but I won't call it the lightest 2011/1911 style trigger I've used out of the box, but it's combat adequate with positive reset, one I'd choose over a Glock any day. With some tuning, you'll be able to lighten the trigger if you are familiar with it. Furthermore I've found that for mine, it was tight fitting to the point that it prevented reliable resets no matter how I adjusted the leaf spring so I replaced the trigger with a spare.
The magwell extension is great, unobstructive and looks part of the gun. Out of the box it's pretty accurate; can easily shoot a small square target one side of the house to the other but a new hopup may improve the performance. You can bet your bum you'll hit some poor sod in a CQB arena, maybe even outdoors. The safety is also a bit on the loose side so it's a little bit too easy to engage and disengage, was able to tune it to liking.
Based on what I've seen, it's partial TM compatible with things like the piston and trigger sets but you may find it difficult to find a slide or barrel that'll match the 5.4 frame, you may be better off searching for the KLI/SRC Baba Yaga. Lacks trades and is 5.1 but that means it's better compatible with TM Hi Capa Parts, and from what I've heard, quite reliable and consistent with quality control vs Jag Precision with CO2 compatibility off the bat. I will also note that this gun fits perfectly with the 8-Fields Kydex Hi Capa/2011 holster.
I've gone through 2000 BBs as an endurance test, and it's holding up after the changes.
I found my new sidearm to replace my franken-1911 I put together.
So in conclusion: If you can procure it at £135 or less depending on where you look, it's a decent gun out of the box. It's not perfect in some areas and I will note that there are some quality control issues and my one was a casualty. HOWEVER, this is a great gun if you are willing to get hands on and/or replace some parts and turn it into your tuned sidearm. For those who just want a display piece, this'll do it at a cheap price and it'll look pretty cool for John Wick fans. For an out of the box working gun, pray that yours works as some have had great luck, others like me not so much. But for the tinkerer or airsoft gunsmith, this is a great base gun.

@@ReapingRose115 this was very helpful my combat master basically just died and sounds like exactly how yours did. hammer snapped off and also doesn't work with other mags. im guessing the knocker valve not being aligned right is the cause of this? could you explain what you meant with the trigger and leaf spring? you mentioned you replaced the trigger should i do that as well? what trigger is compatible? do you know what bbh is compatible with this gun? ive tried cow cow and guarder neither seem to fit the slide. do you know a good hammer that will fit and work with this as well? i love this gun and want to get it working again right now its a expensive paper weight....

      @ReapingRose115 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jakejackson1771
The Trigger that was originally with my gun caused reset issues, coupled with the leaf spring which generally did not hold tension over a couple hundred shots which exacerbated them.
With the blowback housing, you might get away with a standard WE one but otherwise, kinda hard to replace it since it has its own fitting for the irons. Generally you're better off just replacing the piston head and getting a tighter fitting nozzle to get the best seal.
I'm using a hammer salvaged from my WE 7.1, so any standard hi capa or 2011 hammer fits fine. Same for the trigger and leaf spring. So far, couple thousand BBs in and the hammer has held fast, add a couple thousand BBs beforehand when it was on the 7.1, so if it fits TM or WE, the trigger and hammer should fit fine.
IMO, use Army 2011/Hi Capa mags. The knocker valve button is quite generous so it works perfectly with other hi capa's as well, just be sure to get some spare feed lips. I use TM hi capa feed lips as I have killed a few through hard use. The actual knocker spring may misalign during disassembly so your mileage may vary.
Mine's still going strong since the changes, I'm putting upwards of a couple hundred bbs through it just to pass time or practice. Good luck

@@ReapingRose115 thanks for the reply so just to recap. i should get a whole new trigger assembly? or by changing the leaf spring it should fix the issue. Im not sure what would make the trigger any better if i changed it? does it not go back as far or something? isn't the tension the gears hit from the leaf spring? but def a new leaf spring and hammer and they can be any kind that is TM compatible? i tried installing my hammer from my elite force 1911 b/c it was the only other pistol i had but doesn't see to work well i had a feeling it wouldn't but figured i would try first before buying anything. any recommendations on a solid piston head? i was pissed i couldn't get the cowcow to fit right bc ive heard great things about them. im sure there is a way to modify it but im not sure how. sorry for all the questions i just don't want to waste money buying parts again that don't fit

Just got mine and have put about 10 mags through it. It is a nice pistol. I love the weight of the gun and the trigger is very crisp. The stippling is suprisingly good and the licensed TT trades just put it over the top for the cool factor. It was definitely worth the $160 I paid for it. I don't have the STI or the KLI version to compare it with but based on how well the Jag version performs I highly doubt that the other 2 are any better of a value. 9/10 from me.

Hiya, if you dont, and and the mag is empty. it wil lock the slide back as its a feature of the set up., SO if dry firing (with gas but no bbs) it will lock after ever shot and you have to click it down. If there is ammo in then it will fire as normal without messing with it. Pheas
