I was really interested in this game, I liked how it looked different, and looks like a very interesting story to dive into, I would have purchased this game, unfortunately the battle system does not look like it’ll be my cup of tea unfortunately. I’d be more happy for a Turn Based Combat System like Final Fantasy X, but can’t fault a company for trying different things
I know! Same here. It’s confusing because it has RPG elements and Atlus is well known for their rpg games. But the game is listed as adventure/simulation. And that’s all the game is. I love the art style though. Reminds me of Odin Sphere.
Right? and they wonder why this game failed. The presentation is just not there for a full price major console release. If this were on mobile or handheld then I get it why it’s looks the way it does but currently it’s unacceptable for a 70 bucks game.
Ok this battle system might not be exciting to watch but when you experience it I promise it's on a whole nother level. There's no feeling like going up to a walking kaiju factory and using demolisher blade. You got guys that straight up punch to dudes, covering the whole map with missiles. I don't know about you guys but using and good attack and seeing lots of numbers is really satisfying to me.
ITs a bad system lets just say it. IF the battle system was competant this would be a top 10 all time game for me. But the combat systems are so bad, its very hard to recommend to anyone that isnt a giant fan of this genre

Or maybe using an example or referencing an experience you had with the game that made you feel that way. To me it just seems like you are hating for no reason. As if you went into this game with unrealistic expectations instead of going in to it with an open mind and appreciating the unique experience the game has to offer. I'll be honest I'm extremely biased so I'm probably not going to agree. Atlus is my favorite game developer and since posting this comment I had a ton more fun with the game. My favorite part is the mech customization. Choosing what weapons to equip, trying to figure out the best load out and increasing stats to either enhance one mechs strengths or cover for their weaknesses. I replayed missions over and over just so I could upgrade the mechs more. Anyway I'm willing to listen to your perspective but yeah just letting you know I probably won't be convinced.

I've watched several trailers as the game released on PS4 and now makes its way to Switch. Not once have I ever seen a video of the combat. Now I know why

The combat in 13, is horrid, its not good and noone can say other wise. Its bad, flat out. BUT the damn story and visuals are SO GOOD id tell you to get it for that. Seriously, the story should suck given how they juggle 13 charecters, it should be bad. BUT IT ISNT, its great.
So it's like Zone of Enders for GBA without a target system and no actual animation of battle and just mini map animation instead. But HUUUUUGE graphics to get you here. Ouch...

Meh. With how the gameplay actually is, it's no wonder none of the trailers have any actually battle gameplays in them. And that price tag for the Switch version for such gameplay doesn't seem worth it at all.

Yeah, the art of the characters in the world is great but the actual combat looks extremely underwhelming.
gameplay is great BUT animation cant make people love it.
Look like they learned form this and unicorn overlord is very good now.

It's more of a strategy game. It's not suppose to be flashy, it about keeping track of all the characters.
