This song perfectly expresses the Christmas sentiment for atheists. It's not about superstitious traditions, it's about getting together with family. So I in that sense, it IS a Christmas song,. In fact it is THE Christmas song for atheists, and to remove the so-called dodgy comments drawing the contrast between superstition (which is not real) and family (which is real), would be to take away from what the song truly represents, and why the song is cherished among atheists around Christmas time. P.S. Did anyone else find out about this song from DPR Jones all those years ago?
Atheist is a word that is thrown around a lot. Atheist is like a religion in itself. But agnostic, same thing. It's just whatever you want to label. The person who doesn't believe the Fairytale. That's what you wanna call them so blah, blah blah.
hi, just subbed and liked from australia, this song is one of my two favourite christmas songs, along with how to make gravy by paul kelly a great song you may wish to react to. My recommendations for tim minchin would be prejudice, lullaby, nor perfect and his speech at the university of western australia, thanks for your reaction
Check out anything from his last album Apart together and also the song he was commissioned to write for the 50th birthday of the sydney opera house Play it safe
Love Tim. React to Cont, 9 Life Lessons - Tim Minchin UWA Address, The Good Book, Storm, If I didn't have you Full uncut version and Rock n Roll Nerd are some ones to look at. You question why men ask for socks? Tim is not asking for socks he is content with the safe default gifts of socks, underwear or chocolates yes this is something he could buy anytime but is not going to be disappointed that's what he got. Christmas it is about the thought about the giving and family not the actual gift itself. Not about some farcical birthday date hijacked solstice celebration from pagans
I've just found your channel and subscribed have you done his darkside the awesome version or James blunt monsters the one with a close up of his face that one will hit the most emotions it makes me tear up every time I just looked I have already watched your reaction to darkside but I must of forgot to subscribe
I love getting socks for Christmas. They are usually the favourite socks I have. But I suspect it mostly comes down to what he said before - not expecting big presents. As someone with the money to buy the big things I like, the smaller presents have their special meaning. Socks is just a trope of a small but useful and personal gift.
Too hearts for you and too heart for tim mension. You're way too young for me and way out of my league. But Tim is gotta be right up. There with Freddie Mercury.
I love the comments he made. This is my favorite Xmas song.
❤❤❤❤
You said "minus dodgy comments" three times. I am interested. What dodgy comments?
I got the feeling she's a hard nose christian and takes everything as "dodgy" if it feels directed at any reality.
So tired of their sophism.
Yeah I wondered that too.

Commercialization of the birthday (?) of a man that lived 2000 yrs ago to sell playstations & beer happens.
A holiday classic...

Should do Ren reactions....
And say bottle of water.....
Hnnn, the only reason I could see someone thinking his comments are dodgy is someone religious. I could be wrong.

where abouts in the UK are you from Amy? You kind of sound Essex. I think you should do your next video with Tim Minchin hair....
Dodgy comments? Does she mean the truth?
And why is everything about their damn hair?
Socks are there so there's something cheap and easy to buy that will be used and appreciated.
The truth is never dark.
Dodgy comments? He's not wrong.
No man wants socks for a present. Have you ever met a man who said "Hey, gimme some socks"? No. You have not.
You're wrong. I love socks as presents.
I love getting socks!
