far too much narm. even compared to the original funimation fub. also the models look far too... plastic. and with the over-the-top facial expressions (see perfect cell) it just reeks of narm. almost so bad it's good. best example: 1:00:20. this face he makes puts cell with googly eyes after vomitting up 18 to shame.
blitzwaffe When I was a kid my dad told me about how he would watch this with friends, and because a fibe year old may not have the attention span to watch 291 episodes of badass screaming and lasers, He got the game for us to play together and the story mode is how I fell in love with this series
As a young kid this game came out when I was 8 or 9. I'm 23 now and by far it's still the best dbz game. Imagine they made FighterZ with these cutscenes and effort????😭💕💕👌🏽 heres to praying
Fun fact: this scene in Japanese(You mean Krillin?!) is as iconic as “OVER 9000” is to us in the U.S. So iconic that the what if at the end where Vegeta becomes a Super Saiyan on Earth spoofs it but replaces Krillin with Nappa
Which is sad for modern games to fail to capture the detail and cutscenes this well and this game is also uncensored so it has the blood and gore just like the anime unlike other dbz games
I love that authentic DBZ dub feel these old Budokai games have. -Cool music -That classic raspy Vegeta and Piccolo voice delivery from Chris Sabat -Stephanie Nadolny, Linda Young and more
Now that I think about it. For a PS2 DBZ game, this was the most graphic and narrative for me. They really went in with the transformations and the wounds. I'm impressed.
Why don't they make cutscenes like this in the games anymore? This game's cutscenes even had models for King Kai and even showed Cell throwing up 18 and reverting back to his Semi-Perfect Form before turning on his bomb. Other games don't even show that, they're usually just character portraits with text or it happens off-screen.
Exactly. In my opinion the perfect DBZ game would look like this: Cutscenes like Budokai 1. Storymode like Budokai 3 or BT2. Gameplay from BT3 and graphics from Raging Blast 2. I would be lost ^^
@@nigelholland1714 I M black I don't find popo racist I've never seen a night black person with lips like that They are usually one color Black The stereotype must be true in some places with different Brown and black skins lol I think it's.cute
The voice actors were so young and so enthusiastic to match! Literally the only game I can remember where the lip sync was 100%. The music was insanely good especially during the Frieza fight. They made these scenes so dynamic too never a dull moment! So damn graphic with blood and gore too which is a damn shame they don’t do this anymore. And the final dessert is having “what if” scenario’s. Seeing Frieza/Cell have their victory is so surreal and hilarious in a twisted way with how they act.
I've seen a lot of people in the comments over the years saying the same thing as what I'm about to ands its nice to know that I'm not alone. Dragon Ball Z Budokai on PS2 was my first full-on exposure to DBZ. I grew up knowing about it but I'd only ever heard about the plot and characters from friends. A lot of guys I knew were obsessed with it and it's all they would talk about. I honestly believe this is one of the best DBZ Games ever made if for no other reason than the fact of the cutscenes . They really and truly represented the story of DBZ through the medium of video games. Most DBZ games now have the cutscenes as the characters just standing there with their mouths flapping and the dialogue not matching at all. The cutscenes in this game essentially turned DBZ Budokai into a cinematic experience. You got to understand the plot and watch the characters play out scenes from the series in full 3d with good effects considering the era and even now... Though I was definitely confused by the yellow Kamehameha in the beginning though 😅. If we could get a DBZ Game with the Game play of DBZBT3, The graphics of Raging Blast 2 and the Storytelling of DBZ Budokai, I think we'd have the perfect DBZ Game.
Felipe Games e Tutoriais that's not the answer at all if this were true there would be portraits with text. Accurate is a good thing. They did this because they weren't lazy but now it's gotten pretty lazy.
Because this was meant to be the definitive DBZ game at the time of release. It was pretty effective and really set a standard for future games, at least for me. Guess they didn't feel the need to replicate these masterful cutscenes for a while, especially after the change in graphics not being quite as cinematic like it is here. The focus went primarily to the look and feel of in-game fighting afterwards.

Only bad part about the HD remake is the music for Budokai 1 and the intro song for Budokai 3. Other than that everything else is fine really. The new music itself isn't bad, but it's like they didn't even try to get music to fit the cutscenes.
