Excellent video. I am not sure what did it. Kind of went backward. Tried to reset CDI several times because it was easy to get to first. Tried my homemade jumper wire, but did not disconnect the lower wire at first. I managed to loosen the cover without removing the step. Thanks to your video, I knew where the On/Off switch was. It was on by feeling it. Turned off and on several times. Disconnected the lower wire, used jumper wire, and reset the CDI. Belt light went out. Put back together and it ran like a top. I use mine for plowing 620 feet of driveway and a large pad. I obviously have to use reverse a lot. Ready for winter now. Thanks again.
Worked great with 2006 650 V2. Found easiest way to change belt was cut it off take off secondary spread it put in spacer reinstall then roll new belt on. Thanks you have good vids 🇨🇦
Thank you for that video. You just saved me a bunch on money. I have an 04 Arctic Cat 650. It was slightly different only were the four prong connector was. There is a video about doing this in an 03 that helped too because it talks about what the lights will do.
I had recently reset the limp switch, it ran great for a while, then started loosing power, and after a couple days the engine died. Can you tell me what it may be, or how to
Good video, The damage to the belt looks to have what is called an hourglass damage. That it where the primary clutch has worn the belt in one spot usually caused by the quad being stuck or overloaded, where the belt doesn't turn and the clutch burns a spot on the belt. When the quad is unstuck the belt now turns but forces the clutches to move in and out very rapidly in turn the belt "flaps" up an down each time it comes around the clutches causing the switch to be triggered.
Hey Mustie thank you for the vid ! you saved my ass I did a new belt and had a hard time with the reset . Nice job just for th record my 2004 650 twin had the plug for jumping was near the case plug on the side not under the set . Thanks again!
Any tips? I have done this a couple of times and My light still flashing. Did also open the drive cover and belt seem fine and switch was on the on position. I'm getting no luck!
Hey Mustie, I have a 2004 500cc Arctic cat with the constant velocity trans. I can’t find the limp mode switch in the manual. Do you think my cat would have this being it is a 2004? I am finding the machine goes into a limp mode when in reverse. I am plowing with it, so I’m hoping it is just the belt doing what you were talking about. Just wanted to know your thoughts.
Thanks man it solved my problem. I just had to disconnect the switch, jump the connector turn key on for 10 seconds and connect everything back. Really good explanation from you. Thanks again.
i have been having trouble with my v2, it seems that when i give it full throttle it cuts out. I took it apart and noticed my belt was almost blown. Was that what caused it? and how do you know when your atv is in limp? A quick response would be awesome i really need to get this thing running. Thanks
I'll never buy another Arctic cat have two both are huge money pits. Avoid avoid avoid. Find Yamaha or Honda or even a Suzuki and don't buy belt drives anything after they went to belt drive is for shops to make the big $$$$
Hey just a question ... so when u unplug the 3 connector CDI box are u still unplugged at the cover switch , and unplugged/ jumping the seat connector ???

@TolliverLouise your welcome glad I could help
@TBrown945 there should be a light on in the dash, when you took the cover off for the belt was the switch flipped on it? if so you are in limp,
@D86shanks its a friends machine but he hasent had any other problems other then a throttle cable ,,,
l think you can unplug it if you want to reset it while the cover is off,

@biglakebubba glad I was able to help, and thats not a very good dealer,,
Jumping the connector under the seat worked on my 2005 artic cat 650 v2
I would say you need a belt but you will need to look up how to reset it,
Carry extra belts and bypass the switch, that's my fix. Then commence to beating the ever loving crap out of it! lol. Thanks for the videos.
My attic cat 650,
I had recently reset the limp switch, it ran great for a while, then started loosing power, and after a couple days the engine died.
Can you tell me what it may be, or how to
109 hrs and it needs brakes ?
Bigger tires and using a plow , you should have put a clutch kit on the machine.
Step one go to your local honda or yamaha dealer
Nice vid buddy !!! That will help someone down the line wondering WTF...with their 4 wheeler !!! Good job !!
