@@JohnBoylan-r3tIt's a fact he served with the Royal Navy in the Battle of Jutland. Just as Prince Philip served with the Royal Navy during WWII, serving in the Mediterranean, Atlantic and the Far East.

No I didn’t know that, I knew Prince Philip served in the Royal Navy during ww2, he was present when HMS warspite, valiant and barham sunk the Italian cruisers and destroyers at the battle of matapan.. the Queens cousin lord Mountbatten also served in the Royal Navy and then went to Burma.. prince Andrew served in the Royal Navy during the Falklands war! Plus the guy is a bit of a dick... I make allowances for him considering what happened when he was a kid but William turned out just fine. You can tell he has a chip on his shoulder by the title of his book ‘spare’ I haven’t read it because it’s probably ghost written and if he can’t be arsed to write the book then it’s not worth reading! Plus he was ginger, I’ll stop there before I end up in the Tower of London... oh and he’s run away to America because the British public can see his wife is poison.. That’s it if he does become king through a series of events that would make a Chicago gangster blush I’ll ask for a trial by combat, but he’s not allowed to hide in a bunker!!
The Commonwealth / Empire was so fortunate that he became King instead of his brother. History may have taken a different and indeed darker course & outcome. 😢
George VI didn’t step down as King, he died in 1952 at age 56. It’s his elder brother Edward VIII who abdicated the throne as a result of his intention to marry a divorced woman.
Yep - he actually served, unlike so many ‘world leaders’ we could mention.
Utter rubbish

My favorite king. Overcoming all those physical obstacles. Truly a tenacious man.
That this Man was King was not only a Blessing to His People, but a Blessing to the Peoples of the Entire Earth. A Truly Great Man.
A true King
I never realised how much his daughter Elizabeth II resembles him!
@@toastercatx the right King, with the right Prime Minister coupled with the greatest generation at the right time.
Great to know these things about him. Any man who goes into battle at sea, as he did, is immediately a hero.
Yeah, I heard the navy had difficulties finding work for him as we was not bright enough to do most young officer duties on the ship.
Lots of young men died in that war, and the royal is a hero... British people, who are not noble by "blood", have brains?
A reluctant King, but an inspirational one. And his wife as well.
Probably where the the Queen got her ethos of service❤️🇬🇧
He proved that he wasn't a coward.
Definitely set a good example for his daughter
A good King.
A great king, my favourite other than edward III
how old are you

This "spare" did well !
Good man.
He also snuck over the channel to tour the trenches in ww1. He wanted to see the front line trenches for himself.
Luckiest day for Britain in the 20th century is when Edward resigned.

He was fighting his cousin he took it personally

Yes.

A time when Royal ment something
;))) so, prince albert did come in a can...'a tin can' aka a destroyer!
hahahaha!

Butter pies 🥧 😋
He was a rare modern royal if didanything other that cash checks and wear pompous military gear.
Long gone are the times of progression we are in the age of imagration 😂😂
Privilege unearned. You think the rn would coddle any ordinary sailor who was so infirm?
You would criticise him if he did not serve. Now you criticise him because he did serve. Pathetic.
@williammahaffy9228 no. I wouldn't. It's his special treatment for the sake of his name that I protest.
It's a Shame he had to step down as King.
