Note : for Debian based systems like ubuntu and linux mint, the Perspective Extension might not work at first time using it because it requires some modules
Run : sudo apt-get install python-numpy.

Amazing video Nick. What's the difference between "snap to path" and "snap cusp nodes"? When do you use one over the other?
+links2links Snap to cusp nodes only snaps the cursor onto corners of a graphic. Snap to paths snaps the cursor onto any edge of the graphic and not just corners.

I am enjoying your videos SO MUCH!! Since I discovered your videos, my DVR late night talk shows are piling up :). I notice you don't use layers while other Inkscape video creators use layers in their creations. Is there a quick answer as to whether to layer or not to layer?
Thank you, great to hear I'm taking watch time from those enormous late night talk shows haha. I usually don't use layers in my tutorials because I find it easier and more efficient to just move objects up and down as needed. It requires less clicks in the end. I mainly use layers when designing something for print and what to lock the bleed and safe area in place.
Hey, Nick, thanks so much for your response. I am truly enriched by the information in your videos. Since you use your designs for print or visual media, it seems, you don't have to worry about extra paths. My designs are created to cut on a home hobby cutting machine and they will cut every path in the design whether visible in the display or not. So, I have to join objects with union to get rid of extra paths. But watching you create the shapes in the first place has really enhanced my capabilities to create unique, original designs. Thanks so much for taking time to make these videos.

Not sure if you already answered this somewhere but -
In the beginning of the video, why do you take the word Hockey, and do Object to Path -> Ungroup -> Union?
Can't you just do Object to path and move on to the next step? Not sure what ungrouping and then following up with union does.
I do not have a pretty good english to all understand but i like yours tutorials...

Nick what operating system are you running, some kinda linux? Or just a theme over windows?
For some reason when I perform the "Perspective" function my text gets flipped upside down, any ideas how to fix this?
This is an outdated tutorial. There's an easier perspective tool to use in the latest version of Inkscape. Go to path effects (control + shift + 7) then click the plus sign to add a new path effect. From the list choose "Perspective/Envelope" then go to the nodes to (keyboard shortcut: n) to adjust the perspective in real time.

Your videos are awesome Nick! In the above video when you are making the background for hockey you used the inset. It wouldn't work for me so I went into preferences and changed the numbers to px per. However... you pressed it twice to inset again... but when I do that it distorts the image... if i duplicate , then inset then delete the first one it works but yours went much faster!!
any ideas?

I have a problem in my latest version of inkscape .Like at the starting whenever I am writing Hockey or any other thing.The bracket which comes after that.Is becoming bigger then my words .Like in this video when Nick wrote hockey then the bracket is perfectly attached to the edges but in mine the edges ,or the Line is becoming bigger .
Why is it not possible to add new fonts to Inkscape??? I've tried EVERYTHING or am i doing something wrong??? i have watched your tutorial on fonts and followed to the T, i can use the new fonts in word and other programs but not inkscape. HELLLLLPPPPPPPP

5:08 if i duplicated it i will have there only big black flat. thats good and if i choosed color i have there that big black flat again i have not there blue color. please help me
I get my text upside down when doing the perspective thing on the text... any suggestions? Have done it the same way you did it. Maybe it's somthing with the settins on my inkscape.
That's odd. Are you starting the box at the bottom left corner and drawing it in a clockwise pattern? If so, it might be your settings.
