If anyone here didn't know what #1 was gonna be before they clicked on this video, you have some serious reconsidering to do about what you've done with your life so far
Gotta love Bryce Drew's shot being that I live in Valpo. I remember watching that on TV and how that was the biggest thing to happen in Valpo up until that point in my life.
I am not a Duke fan, but the reason Laettner is #1 is because to hit buzzer beaters in back to back years that send you to the final four is pretty incredible.
You could probably add 1-2 of the 2011 March Madness game-winners to this list. Oh, and Chandler Parsons's insane 70-footer in OT to beat NC State from 2010...
#5...who can forget the play that will live forever in UConn basketball history as simply "the shot"? I had given up hope, thought it was over for my beloved Huskies. But then a miracle occurred. Thank God for Tate George and Scott Burrell.
If they ever 'remake' this list, they gotta include Chandler Parsons's 75-foot buzzer-beater 3-point shot in OT that allowed the Gators to beat NC State 62-61. Whether or not you're a Florida fan, you have to admit that shot was freaking awesome.
Always fun to watch these and just think how different some games would have been had they had better clock management at the end. I think there was still two seconds left on the clock when the one basket went in.
Im amazed that Drew Nicholas of Maryland does not get more credit for this 2003 Buzzer beater. Google it...TH-cam it....its fantastic and rarely gets recognition
Laettner's shot is so huge because UK was gaining speed that year, UK was GOOD too. UK and Duke had been close all game long and the buzzer beater clenched it. That shot is the reason I can't watch best damn 50 buzzer beaters. I always know #1.
I really think #10 should have been far higher, although what I really liked about that play was the way the announcer called it, the play itself was incredible too though.
ONLY in the national CHAMPIONSHIP game....Laetner's was ONLY in the semifinal game....and Chalmers' shot was a 3 to Laetner's 2.....i win. thanks for playing.
It is a crime that Marquette's Jerome Whitehead's lay-up/tip-in/missed dunk (whatever you want to call it) vs UNC-Charlotte in 1977 is not included in most compilations of the greatest buzzer-beaters in NCAA tournament history. It was a national semi-final game. The points were not credited immediately, the ref had to check with the time keeper, with the coaches and players huddled around him, and it remains THE most controversial play in Final Four history. God bless and keep Al McGuire!
Are you kidding me! How could Indiana's Keith Smart's shot to win the 1987 National title over Syracuse not be on this list. That was more dramatic than Lorenzo Charles. Unbelievable.
nc state should have been number one, it won the national championship and was one of the greatest upsets of all time. jimmy v was a very inspirational coach and it was great to see him win it all. the laetner shot was amazing and deserves to be there. but nc state winning the national championship epitomizes the best things about march madness, it is unpredictable and the cinderella story. this is espn though, the network that brings us duke vital and shows every duke game
It's okay that Laetner is there. I think that Arkansas one was hard to get off though. based on the play I would give Arkansas #1. I'm just happy Tyus Edney is on the list. As a Bruin, it should always be there (not necessarily number one).
Before I start first of all I am on your side here. So let me guess some people are dissing Laettner and calling him bad names because they hate him or Duke and would rather be like that instead of giving credit where credit is due. I think I am done with these stupid message boards because people on these things are immature idiots. You are one of the few cool ones and I thank you for making things right here.
I was at the game for #10...you could feel a jolt of electricity through your body when that shot went down. Too bad UNC had the home court advantage for the next game...us UConn fans couldn't even hear ourselves cheer.
Had Butler made that last basket in the 2010 championship, I can say with 99% certainty they'd be the new #1.
If anyone here didn't know what #1 was gonna be before they clicked on this video, you have some serious reconsidering to do about what you've done with your life so far
1:13 HE SCORES IT! THE BRUINS WIN!
Pretty good I liked the last 1
wow....i liked *10 the best..3 times the charm
The fact that two UConn buzzer-beaters are on here is so awesome :D
1:15 Bruh
awesome stuff, those were all amazing shots. my favorite is probably Bryce Drew, that play is just awesome.
Basketball is the most fun sport ever.
amen
Gotta love Bryce Drew's shot being that I live in Valpo. I remember watching that on TV and how that was the biggest thing to happen in Valpo up until that point in my life.

Arizona buzzer was sick!!!!
No. 8 is the most perfect swish i've ever seen
@thedude6123 # 4 was even better
I love #4
how was the arkansas one not number three.
he is great in the clutch.
#4 is the best. the announcers voice made it seem cool
oh kool. never knew dat b4 thnx. i dont reely watch college basketball much, mostly NBA, but its sometimes interesting :)
I think James Forest and Georgia Tech should be higher. I mean, the guy doesn't make a three ALL season....come on!
@DIGITALTENNISBOY sai wrd, so damn truee.. :) :$
number 8 and 5 are the best
crazy hook on #6
You could probably add 1-2 of the 2011 March Madness game-winners to this list.
Oh, and Chandler Parsons's insane 70-footer in OT to beat NC State from 2010...
#10 still makes me cry :(
#5...who can forget the play that will live forever in UConn basketball history as simply "the shot"? I had given up hope, thought it was over for my beloved Huskies. But then a miracle occurred. Thank God for Tate George and Scott Burrell.
Valpo's is the best, just cause the announcer. Man he was goin nuts, " Drew for the win".....GOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD hahahaha I love it
i cant wait until march madness, its by far the most exciting time in sports
grant hill never gets enough credit for the perfect pass.
If they ever 'remake' this list, they gotta include Chandler Parsons's 75-foot buzzer-beater 3-point shot in OT that allowed the Gators to beat NC State 62-61. Whether or not you're a Florida fan, you have to admit that shot was freaking awesome.
I love how my Uconn huskies are in 4 of these.
my thoughts exactly.
that rip hamilton one was so intense because they freakin had almost 5 chances before that
Fuzzy mascot!!
Always fun to watch these and just think how different some games would have been had they had better clock management at the end. I think there was still two seconds left on the clock when the one basket went in.
Lorenzo Charles' buzzer beating dunk to beat Houston for the National Championship should be #1. It'll be hard to ever top that one.
they were ballin that night
Play number 2 is the best
#1-Kentucky @ IU December 2011
Im ok with one, for that to happen to the same player twice is crazy, Laettner is oh so clutch!
Im amazed that Drew Nicholas of Maryland does not get more credit for this 2003 Buzzer beater. Google it...TH-cam it....its fantastic and rarely gets recognition
Christian Laettner was no doubt and no brainer number 1 especially against Kentucky.
Laettner's shot is so huge because UK was gaining speed that year, UK was GOOD too. UK and Duke had been close all game long and the buzzer beater clenched it. That shot is the reason I can't watch best damn 50 buzzer beaters. I always know #1.

The Lorenzo Charles dunk is the best buzzer beater ever. That won them the championship and it was an upset win as well.
This clip has the best call of Bryce Drew's game winner. It's so much better than the other version, which I'm guessing was just the CBS call.
R.I.P Lorenzo Charles
UK takes the cake.
#1 was so obvious. Those game winners are amazing and even better for me because I'm a Duke fan.
HAMILTON!!!
Funny thing though, the guy that made the amazing pass to him did. :P
oh, lol thanks.
He player for more than ten years. Doesnt get much better then that.
ONLY in the national CHAMPIONSHIP game....Laetner's was ONLY in the semifinal game....and Chalmers' shot was a 3 to Laetner's 2.....i win. thanks for playing.
rip jimmy v and lorenzo charles
4 Should've been number 1, seriously.
number 2 was number one really

@edgespear911
You got one thing right!
Go Terps!
number 3 is totally the best duh
I could watch that Husky mascot rush the court everyday for the rest of life and never stop smiling...
ya danny ainge!
GO CELTICS!
@ZhangtheGreat 100% certainty
That was a great shot, but this was buzzer beaters only. There were a few secs left after the Smart shot.
It's the Field of 64, Round of 32, Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4
Are you kidding me! How could Indiana's Keith Smart's shot to win the 1987 National title over Syracuse not be on this list. That was more dramatic than Lorenzo Charles. Unbelievable.
#5 just barely beat the buzzer
Anyway, the mascot's reaction was awesome after it

I suppose that is splitting hairs since Smart's shot was only a few seconds prior to the buzzer. You win by a technicality. :)
It's okay that Laetner is there. I think that Arkansas one was hard to get off though. based on the play I would give Arkansas #1. I'm just happy Tyus Edney is on the list. As a Bruin, it should always be there (not necessarily number one).

#10 still makes me mad too. I AM MAD RIGHT NOW.
duke rules
@ #4 he dives and is like hellll yeah
#2 should have been #1
Good call. Though, in Kentucky, slop don't count.
#5 dang!!! he threw it, what, 100 feet right to his teammate!
#9 THE RED COATS ARE COMING
not only did he actually go to the nba he had a fairly sucessfull career..
numba 4 is hilarious.
Technically, there was still time on the clock when Chalmers made it and all of these look like game winners
i wish notre dame was good again because they are fun to root against when they are
I hope Bryce Drew takes over when Homer decides to hang it up. Glad to see the Valpo game on here.
@TKDCats312 agreed
i want you to look at when this video was added.
1:41 "And there is an astronaut on the courtside!"
Not in the tourney but what about Evan turner vs Michigan. That was sweet!!!
Nova!!!!!!!!!!
Well, Mario would be on the list if it was posted again
I was at the game for #10...you could feel a jolt of electricity through your body when that shot went down. Too bad UNC had the home court advantage for the next game...us UConn fans couldn't even hear ourselves cheer.
As a Duke fan, not many Duke players make it in the NBA.
call me crazy, but #10 should have been #1
Gee i wonder what number one is going to be
Number 3 Arkansas!
Man, the defense really sucks xD
#5 should be #1. that was a hail mary pass!
Time to update this. Kansas' Mario Chalmers. 2008 NATL CHAMPIONSHIP game.....top 5 easily.
im pretty sure there weren't review booths then
