Thank you for posting this! Over the past year- I must have watched it 25 times. It never fails to move me, or make my day better. Seriously, thank you for sharing!!!
That's a winner. Omg.. it's been a long time since I cried like this.. HE IS THE BEST! FFS THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO TH-cam I VE EVER SEEN. Thank you for uploading this.
thank you for posting this. whenever i get 'the poor pitiful me's' i watch this so that i can see someone with a good attitude and drive get out there and DO IT. thank you jason.
It's not just this guy. I love the whole school. Don't you wish you were in a high school where they treat less abled people like this. Hats off to them!
I have a friend, autistic too... It's really hard for him to express himself. Some ppl say that sport, particularly "team" sports, are one of the possible ways to express what you feel. Just look at people watching its favorite team winning a cup or something like that... it's the same feeling. I guess that being involved in a team, where everyone has the same goal, is a good motivation too.
I had heard about this story on ESPN and thought wow I did the exact same thing my freshman year of high school. The team I was on blew out everyone all year so the last game I suited up and hit a few jump shots of my own, the crowd went crazy each time i hit one. After the game they caried me off the court and everything it was great!! now granted i'm not autistic but the this story is 100 times better than mine!! Very Uplifting
I've read comments about treating him normal. Even normal people dont want to be treated normal, dont we all want to be unique? Anyway, ignoring the sympathetics (not empathetics, what do they know?), this is a very inspiring story.
Who cares how old it is. It's like Cal beating Stanford, the Shot Heard 'Round the World, the Immaculate Reception, it's a great sports story & should never be forgotten.
AS A FATHER OF A SON WITH AUTISM I AM THRILLED THIS YOUNG MAN WAS GIVEN THE CHANCE TO PLAY AND SHOW THE WORLD THAT BEING IN THE AUTISM SPECTRUM DOES NOT MEAN YOU CANT HAVE A NORMAL LIFE!! I CANT WAIT TO SHOW THIS TO MY SON AND SEE HIS REACTION.
Wow man love this vid. I grew up with a kid almost in the same situation except he was deaf and somewhat mute. no1 ever picked on him though, cuz he got his respect on the court. We'd always ball in P.E. And he was good just like this kid!
i know that ive seen this story so many times and I already knew all about it... but i just got a serious set of the chills watching that again. anything is possible
Its not so much the amazing shooting performance, the real story is the respect and affection showed this young man by his classmates and the fans....Hes a very lucky guy to have experienced this, and thank God the coach gave him a chance to show his stuff....
While I do agree with some previous comments about how the opposing team or atleast the player guarding him is put in a compromising situation, and he may not have been guarded, its hard to say from the video and either way it doesnt matter, the kid can shoot, seems to have a great outlook, and what really stands out about this video and what I think should be taken from it is the support this team and community obviously has for jason and each other, it was really refreshing
How amazing and inspirational. I wonder how much he had played before this game and how much he played after this game. How could his shooting ability gone unrecognized?
omg this is an amazing story. thats awsome to see someone reach their dream. proud of you kid. and all the haters dont get mad cause you cant play!!!!!
There was a kid with down syndrome in my high school who could make free throws all day. My theory was he was just really really good at doing the physical movement to make a shot the exact same way every time. Extreme muscle memory.
damn.... dont matta who u is or wat sickness u got. 20points in 4mins is jus simply amazing its self. and he was da leadin scorer for his team... dats jive an inspires me. real talk.
this story aired some years ago. Plays just as good today as back then. Glad there's youtube so people can go on enjoying it.
This is the oldest document ever lol.
This was amazing. One of the most chill inducing, awe inspiring things i've seen in a long time.
Good for him.
Thank you for posting this! Over the past year- I must have watched it 25 times. It never fails to move me, or make my day better. Seriously, thank you for sharing!!!
Man I can't stop tearing up on this one. For those that thumbs this down, you need to have some kind of heart. That was amazing!!!!
This is a memory that will live with him for the rest of his life. What a great story. Brings a smile to my face everytime i talk about it to someone.
That's a winner. Omg.. it's been a long time since I cried like this.. HE IS THE BEST! FFS THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO TH-cam I VE EVER SEEN. Thank you for uploading this.

Holy crap, that gave me chills, he was never given a shot until now, and he owned the moment
I had heard about this story on ESPN and thought wow I did the exact same thing my freshman year of high school.

This is what basketball is about, it's not the Bulls or the Lakers, it's kids having fun and being happy with who they are.
