  • Colombia has quite a large variety of supermarkets, so I thought I'd make a video detailing the differences between them, along with some key distinctions between supermarkets in Colombia and other countries in general.

*Another supermarket I forgot to mention - Mercado Zapatoca. This one's exclusive to Bogotá and is fairly similar to Olímpica, although it's purely a supermarket and nothing else.
**Regarding Jumbo, another key difference I forgot to mention is that these stores are generally some of the largest supermarkets in Colombia (hence the name). Their online product range still seems to be smaller than Éxito's though.

8 days from arriving to Colombia on vacations this video complemented all the searches I've made ragarding this topic (as all the other videos on their topics). Tks!

I would add that it is also more common to get your raw products (fruits, vegetables, meats, breads) at local markets in the neighborhood, at least compared to the US. Supermarkets are more for processed packaged foods

Great video Ezrato. You're a really good communicator. Have you made a video or commented on safety in Colombia yet? All I've mainly heard from other TH-camrs is don't walk around at night. Would you agree? Also, please make a detailed on on health care one day (this is for retirees like me!). Gracias!

Actually, D1 is bigger that ARA, for example in Medellín there are less than 10 stores of ARA, but over 200 stores of D1.
