My thrift store sells used puzzles for $1 and new-old puzzles for $3. My best find was a Liberty Wood Puzzle for $10, in perfect condition! Happy Hunting!
Yes, I'm not one to just grab anything I can find. I need to connect with the image in some way so that I can become a part of it. Hence why I like to share my puzzle "stories' in my videos. It's how/why I connected with the image.
In a zip lock bag is the most secure way or tape the box on all 4 sides. When it is taped on 2 sides there can be puzzle pieces falling on the floor or on the shelf…
I'm definitely going to get them in ziploc bags and mark if there are any missing pieces once I finish working on them. You're right, taping on two sides is no good. I've received puzzles from ebay that were taped like that and pieces where hanging around in the shipping box.
That's what I figured really. Yea, it'll suck if its missing after spending the time on it. But knowing I only paid 50 cents, I need to go in with the mindset that it does have missing pieces, then I won't be sad in the end. At that price, it's nearly free anyways lol.
Wow those are awesome prices! Some of my thrift stores are getting way too expensive….$4,$7,$9 even$15 if it’s still sealed … another shop generally prices them $2-$5 so I get them there mostly. It’s fun to see what you store has. Thanks for the outing!
Thank you for tagging along my puzzle hunt 😁 Wow, those prices are really high for a thrift store, I would never go back lol. At least you have the other shop that's more reasonable.
I really looking forward to starting those videos. I'm trying to plan it out and I'm thinking maybe starting with Ceaco since I have a lot of experience with that brand. I also consider it not the greatest, so I'd be really interested if they were better or worse before.
Oh my goodness! At 2.24 you hold a new zealand puzzle about the Rotorua Museum! (Feel free to google it! It’s an iconic new zealand thingy) I couldnt believe it!!! I have a holdson of the same picture but the flowers put me off! Awesome video once again! So nice!!!!
Oh wow, I just looked it up! It's so beautiful and massive! I'd live in there if I could 😂 Honestly, I'm also not really into photos of flowers, unless it's a painting.
@@thepuzzledmandy nice! yeah it's been closed since the pandemic for Renos but never got opened again...inside it's amazing. some of the most valuable carvings are stored there! hehe tell me about the flowers! hehehe
Oh wow, I really need to try a Schimdt puzzle. I feel like they are the only other brand that carry Thomas Kincaid images, but I could be wrong. Have you completed it yet? Do you like Schmidt?
Hearing you say “now this is an older puzzle…from 1997” made me start cackling. I was born Dec ‘96, I don’t feel old often cause I live with my grandpa and great grandma so I’m obviously the youngest, but man, made me feel old 😂
Oh, and I totally would’ve gotten that Ravensburger. Pretty image and at 50 cents how would I not? But I totally understand it wasn’t your taste. We’re all different! I haven’t puzzle shopped at a thrift store yet but I cannot wait to. Finally got a little money for the moment so I think it’s about time 😊
The Ravensburger box looked to be in great condition too, but it just wasn't calling to me. I had a huge "maybe" pile so it was an easy No for me. Head to those thrift stores! Let me know if you pick up any cool sets up!
you have never done a wooden puzzle on your channel, that I remember, I am currently putting together from Temu $11.48 for the large size Chameleon Wooden Jigsaw puzzle I am absolutely loving it ,, to the point I could do them all the time.... they do have a loose fit but to overcome this I made a "frame" for it with foam board so the edge pieces stay in place and so the rest of the puzzle does to.... I hope you at least look at it.. maybe not your style , I have done others with odd animal shapes and this rectangle one is just soooooo much fun....... hope when your puzzle budget gets increased you can check it out..... enjoy the weekend
I have seen the Temu sets, but I’ve never actually tried a wooden puzzle before. And that price is not bad so I’d be very willing to pick one up at some point. That’s a great idea with making a frame to keep it together. I’ll look more into it and will definitely make a video about it. Thank you for the idea!
Nice haul Mandy!! I love the quality of Bits and Pieces, the piece shapes and the images! The Buffalo Games Sweet Shop looks amazing! I live in a rural area and we have 4 thrift stores in a 20 mile radius and I have not found any puzzles in them. I'm not sure if people in this vicinity don't do puzzles or maybe they sell out as soon as they get them, but I have checked.
I'm looking forward to Bits and Pieces. I've been to their website a bunch of times and they are always having sales. They have so many great images 🤩 Geez, 4 thrift stores and no puzzles! The thought of possibly nobody puzzling in the area kinda makes me sad. Puzzles are so amazing. But then again, like you said, maybe they just sell out too quick. Maybe you can find out when they tend to stock up the store, and shop on those days so you get first dibs.
Super nice haul! Those are great prices. My thrift store has their puzzles for .50 or 1.00. I always bag and seal the boxes when I take them to the thrift store. I usually check with the store every few weeks, and get very excited when I find some good ones.
Your thrift store sounds like my kinda place! Ah you're definitely one of the thoughtful puzzlers. I would do that same with my sets if I were donating them. When I send back any of my already used sets, I'm also going to make sure I note if it's missing any pieces too. I would love to head to my store every week too, but I really need to start opening up and doing some of my collection instead of hoarding sets 🤣 I've really been struggling trying to find time to puzzle the last few weeks. But hopefully things will slow down at home and I can start getting through them.
My local thrift has puzzles for $2.99 and I think that's a great deal. 50 cents is almost as good as free. All the puzzle boxes at my local thrift are taped together by the shop, so you never know what you're getting. We just bought our first one and when we cut the tape and opened the box, the edge pieces were in one ziplock bag and the rest of the puzzle in another. I think there is a good chance all the pieces are there, we're building it now so fingers crossed. (Bouquet for Bluebirds, SunsOut Puzzles, 500 pieces, made in USA, 2011).
2.99 is a really great deal, I would pay that for thrift. But 50 cents is a steal 🤣 I'm going to have to start searching for loose quarters everywhere now. That was great that the last owner was thoughtful enough to prepare it for the next person. I wish more people were like that. But I feel like you can tell that the previous owner was a true puzzler just by the way they set it up for donation. That puzzle you're working on is gorgeous! Let me know if all the pieces are there!
I pay 2-5$ for thrift shop puzzles but they often sell entire puzzle sets of like 10 puzzles in a box for the same price. I've generally had very good luck with puzzles and only a few of my many purchases had missing pieces
Those are really good prices, especially if they come in sets. I'm hoping I have some good luck with all my used sets. I've got quite a number of them now.
just FYI.. I just ordered Christmas Skiing wooden puzzle looks like Charles Wysocki, and Greedy Cat rectangle shapes both with free shipping.... $20.33.. promise I wont bug ya anymore....
You found unreal bargains at that thrift store on jigsaw puzzles. I have quite a few puzzles and, other than gifted puzzles (😃free), I only have one puzzle for the low thrift-shop price of 50 cents. That one is a 2007 300-piece puzzle of "Cats Under the Bougainvillaea" by Lesley Anne Ivory in like-new condition. Most commonly, thrift puzzles around here run $2-5 each and sometimes more.
I really need to head back to this thrift store and see what new stock they have. I'm just hoping they haven't raised the prices since my last visit. $2-5 range is pretty darn good though!
@@thepuzzledmandy I would love to see another trip to that thrift store where you got fantastic puzzle deals ! I'm curious whether they have even more puzzles for that low price or whether they have raised their prices. While watching your video, I feel as though I am right there with you as you check out the puzzles ! Quite exciting, I must say.
@@Maggie-tr2kd Happy you're enjoying the "shop with me" videos. I will definitely take everyone along with me again when I head back. I also want to check out some other stores.
It's sure worth a shot, as long as they still have pieces from the older sets. I do love it when companies offer "missing piece guarantees", makes me feel less stressed if I end up missing anything.
I have been doing a lot of puzzles and i refuse to pay full price for puzzles at the rate im completing them. I have a goal to do at least one a week this year. I look at my local thrift store on my lunch break and i have found some great buys for under $4 generally in the $1.75-$3.75 price range. We also have goodwill and currently all puzzles are $2. I have found several brand new in the box puzzles which is awesome. Sometimes it appears someone bought it opened the box looked at it and decided not to do it put the lid back on and donated. Others still slealed and or shrink wrapped. I did a new old stock FX schmid puzzle that was a reeses candy factory and that was super fun and best of all really great quality. Unfortunately in my research it appears they were a more premium puzzle brand that went out of business or was bought out. So now i keep an eye out for that brand. I also enjoy doing vintage springbok not the same as newer springbok but newer are ok. My brest friend lives in suburban area of a major city and she says the prices of puzzles in her area are $5 and up at thrift stores. Definitely think location plays a part in the cost of things. i live in a more rural area and prices are lower here but then the places to shop and selection are lower so its a trade off. But it sure is fun when you find a good deal on name brand puzzles. I really enjoy thrifting and my piece of advice is to go often but not necessarily buy often. I go often because the good stuff doesn't last. It has to be something im looking for or a puzzle i can see myself enjoying. I am selective in what i buy but do get great prices on thing i do get. Happy puzzling to you.
$4 and under is great price range for used puzzles. I really wouldn't bother spending more than that, when for a few bucks more I can pick up new sets at a Walmart or something. I still need to check out Goodwill, I've never been there before. I might have a couple locations not too far away, I'm in a rural area as well. I wish I could visit this thrift store more often, but it's about 35min out of my usual routes. Stores like that are at least a 30min drive from where I live.
Lucky you. The lowest price I have seen here in CA is $2, but that is rare. They are now going for $4-$5 so I have definitely slowed down my buying! It’s hard to take a chance on missing pieces for $5.
I agree. I would hesitate to spend $5 knowing I might be missing pieces. I find it interesting how many others are talking about how their thrift stores are raising their prices...what the heck. My guess would be because of higher rents/upkeep of the space. Times are rough!
Hi Mandy, I am so happy you found such of great deals! The cheapest I paid at a thrift store in my area was $2 per puzzle plus 20% off. Have fun putting those awesome puzzles together 😊
I did that puzzle called Sweet Shop and it’s a very nice and easy puzzle to do. Karen’s puzzle had a video on that 100,000 dollar puzzle. I love the Thomas Kinkade,,I hope you get that one. Those puzzles are a bargain, I wish our thrift stores has those prices.
Ooo I'm glad to hear that "Sweet Shop" is an easy one to do! Now I wish I pick up that $100,000 puzzle! Hopefully its still there when I go back, but probably not LOL. I hope they put out a lot more when I head back there again at some point.
wellll Hello... just sat down to lunch and to watch a video while I ate and there you are!!! WOW!!! great day for you I knew you would get the white one and the scenery ones... just your style. Ohhh and yes its a great idea to compare old and new puzzles in the same brand...would be a interesting video.... I also do not understand if someone is donating a puzzle why not tape it up?? and yes the sweet shop could be your "big" one to do.... I once did a thrift store White Mountain 1000 piece but had 15 pieces missing and in the end I did not mind....it was my first white mountain so it was worth doing.... ... I hated just throwing it away I felt no one else would want it with so many pieces missing....I have done Bits and Pieces and they are fun....I have two of the Guild puzzles that are dated 1972..yep Im old.... I have done puzzles that long..... the most recent good haul my daughter did for me in a Christian thrift store in Illinois all the puzzles were $1.00 she picked me up 8 one brand I had never heard of Garden of Delight , wooden puzzle, ingooood, is the brand.... it was unopened she got it for a buck!!! Have fun saving quarters for the next haul........ enjoy your day....
Glad to join you for lunch 😁I was so excited at that thrift store! I already can't wait to head back there, but really, I need to complete more sets before I do 🤣 I don't really know why people wouldn't tape it up, or at least put the pieces in a ziploc bag or something. When I start giving some of my sets away, I plan to do everything I can for the next puzzler. I am excited to get into the "Sweet Shop" puzzle. The colors are so fun! I had thought about picking up the Guild puzzle, but I couldn't resist the others. Really I could've left with a lot more sets, but the space would be pretty much gone on my new shelf lolol. $1 is a fantastic deal, especially for a new puzzle. And it was wood too?! That's awesome. I need to try out a wood puzzle at some point. I'm gonna start looking for lost quarters everywhere now 🤣.
I know, that Ravensburger was in really good condition too. But my "maybe" pile was so big, it was an easy no. Especially since the image wasn't calling to me.
I was in shock when I saw the prices! I haven't been there in awhile because they were closed for over a month, but I'm hoping the prices haven't changed. Hopefully I'll find some real treasures next time 🤩
Talk about hitting the jackpot, I would have wanted them all, even the ones I didn't like. You videos are great and fun to watch. Have you ever thought of doing stand up comedy lol, you'd be great.
Trust me...I really wanted to take them all 🤣 But knew that would be a bad idea considering I'm already running out of space on my new shelf. Thank you so much, I'm happy you're enjoying my videos! Oh boy, I'd be too nervous to even try stand up comedy 😊It would turn into a train wreck 🤣
Wow, that seems a bit pricey for used puzzles, especially if they end up missing pieces. I still need to check out the Goodwills in my area and see what they have and charge.
those are great deals - on the other hand my thrift store is jacking up prices like crazy - seen ravensburger there for 9.99 - I know it's still better than new, but it's quite a lot. I had good luck on yard sales recently - found some puzzles for $1-$3
That's terrible that your thrift store is raising the prices! 9.99 is a lot for a thrifted puzzle, even for a Ravensburger in my opinion. Even though they're easily over $20 new, I still would never pay that much at thrift shop. I need to start checking out the yard sales out here!
@thepuzzledmandy the two I did had all the pieces, another said it was missing a piece and one is brand new that I still haven't done. SO Far my thrifted puzzles have not been missing pieces, but I still have a stack to do.
Same here even though I'm running out of space🤣 Puzzle time has been hard to come by for me the last few weeks, but I'm hoping things will slow down soon so that I can finally get through some of these piles of sets.
Great price we do have one GW that sells puzzles for 79 cents any brand any size. I did get 3 brand new puzzles sealed in box at a yard for sale $5.00....(1000pcs)
I don't blame you! You can score some really great finds at fantastic prices. I'm always trying to save money, so now that I know about this thrift store, I'll for sure be heading back once they open up again.
@@thepuzzledmandy so I got a set of 4 Gibson 500 today for £3.50. That is quite cheap for our charity shops. Another one I went in was selling them for £6. 😲
Those are really good prices too. I keep saying I need to head to Goodwill, but I never get the chance to. I don't even know if the location closest to me is still actually open. We shall see.
@@rebekahnerad4900 Oh my goodness, I just had a stupid thought. What if I started the video with me arriving at the Goodwill, just to find out that it was permanently closed. Then the video just ended with me being annoyed by it...I'm sorry that was very random but I just had to share it. I thought it was funny 🤣
@@thepuzzledmandy oh that makes me sad. The local salvation army store is permanently closed, and I might have shed a tear over that one. But I cheered up and went to Goodwill and bought several 1.29 puzzles. :)
A local senior center thrift sells them for 25 cents (unless it's something special 😊). The Habitat store sells for a buck. I usually walk out of a thrift with 6 or 7 puzzles so you are far from crZy! I have also passed up ravensburgers cuz a i just don't dig a lot of their images. Oh how i wish peeps would just bag the pieces! I just don't get it.
Oh wow! 25 cents, that's even better 🤩Ok good, I don't feel so bad now for walking out with 6 sets. Hopefully they've got a good restock of puzzle sets the next time I head there. I'll make sure to bring an extra buck with me so that I can load up a bit more...even though I don't have the space 🤣Hopefully things slow down a bit at home so that I can catch up on what I already have sitting on my shelves. I've come to the conclusion that the only people who bag/tape their donated sets are those who are true puzzlers, and would want the best for the next puzzler who enjoys them.
There are no trift stores I know of so I cant compare prices but i think any lower will be difficult to find. I think the glow in the dark might not work anymore.
I also don't see how they can get any cheaper than that. I found myself a great place 😁 I didn't think about the glow in the dark not working anymore. I need to test it now lol.
Wow, an even better price! That's awesome. That's just as good as being free 😂 If my thrift store charged that much, I could've bought twice as many...but then again, it's probably best that they don't. Then I would definitely wipe off the shelves LOL.
Hello Mandy after watching the video on all this cheaper puzzles now I planing to go to my second hand shops to look for bargains, it was very good buy!! I hope I find something like that !!!!
$2 is a great bargain! I'm hoping I can visit this thrift store often so that I can take advantage of the restocks. Hopefully I'll get another great selection next time!
Oh, that Seasons of Change jigsaw looks really nice. 🙂 Glow in the dark? It's been radiated lol Never heard of a panorama jigsaw before....sounds interesting. Personally, if you're going for the Leichweinstein(?) Castle puzzle, go for the 3D version....... 🙂 I want the Fairy one, cos the city where my Mrs lives is known as the City of Fairies.....on every envelope I've been sending her lately until she gets her mobile phone fixed, I've been adding fairy pics on the side. Faeries and Magical Creatures (board game) is coming out very soon and I'm rushing out to get it when it arrives in Oz to take with me 🙂 Your Sweet House jigsaw just reminded me....in Nis, Serbia, where I'm moving to, there is a shop called, translated into English, Sweet House.....here is a 1.5 min clip....as a tease lol th-cam.com/video/VkAdQ_Olv60/w-d-xo.html You got some really nice jigsaws there Mandy.....I'll buy them off you for $1.....joking. Radiated puzzles 🤣🤣 Someone else mentioned it might not even glow anymore, which was something I didn't think of. Good thing it was dirt cheap LOL. I actually did a 3D version of the castle and I love it! Oh my goodness...I have to admit, I was drooling while watching the video. That's the kind of place where I can seriously spend all day in just taking it all in. There is another shop in Belgrade with diff name (forgotten it off hand) and way more expensive, like....wwwaaaayyyyyy more expensive. Plus the tape often ruin the box when removed. It's much nicer if the pieces are in a bag instead of the box being taped 😁

I haven’t puzzle shopped at a thrift store yet but I cannot wait to. Finally got a little money for the moment so I think it’s about time 😊
No! Don't feel that way! You're still young...I'm much older than you 😭 I wish I was your age again!
They have so many great images 🤩
Geez, 4 thrift stores and no puzzles!
That Christmas one sounds like it'll be beautiful if its a Wysocki. That's not a bad price for two new sets, and free shipping is always a win!
Sometimes you can call the company and tell them you are missing pieces and they will replace the missing pieces. Maybe try that!
Wow, that's a great price, especially with that extra discount! Do you go to that thrift store often to see what other stock comes up?
I do. They usually have nice brands. I found white mountain, Springbok, Galison and cobble hill puzzles at that store.
@@Laura_Stanford Those are great finds! I'm hoping I can more of brands like that the next time I head to that shop.
Bits n peices. Spillsbury and Puzzle warehouse are great order sights.....good deals. Lol
Thank you letting me know, I'll check them out!
I’m so excited for you! Great haul! I really wanted you to get the Ravensburger! 🧩
I know, that Ravensburger was in really good condition too. But my "maybe" pile was so big, it was an easy no. Especially since the image wasn't calling to me.
Those are crazy prices!! My places are around $3-$6.
Our Goodwill sells puzzles for five, six or $7!
My best bargains have been $1 puzzles from a church rummage sale. I think you got a fantastic deal
$1 is still a really great deal! Did you complete the set, and if so, did it have all the pieces?
@thepuzzledmandy the two I did had all the pieces, another said it was missing a piece and one is brand new that I still haven't done. SO Far my thrifted puzzles have not been missing pieces, but I still have a stack to do.
@@laurapayeur9751 That's awesome luck so far!
I really want to go purchase some more puzzles from thrift stores soon.
79 cents is fantastic! And $5 for new sets is also a great bargain. You never know when you're gonna get lucky and find some great deals!
I meant all 3 were only $5.00 Not five a piece

I don't blame you! You can score some really great finds at fantastic prices. I'm always trying to save money, so now that I know about this thrift store, I'll for sure be heading back once they open up again.
That is very cheap for puzzles. Well done.
I'm hoping that they haven't raised the prices since my last visit. I want to head back there soon and see if I can pick up any more amazing sets.
@@thepuzzledmandy so I got a set of 4 Gibson 500 today for £3.50. That is quite cheap for our charity shops. Another one I went in was selling them for £6. 😲
Wow I am paying from $3.99-8:00 for puzzles at the thrift store. You scored.
Wow, those are some high prices for a thrift store. Are the sets at least in good condition? I hear a lot of thrift shops are raising their prices.
I shake and see if they are in a bag. Sometimes the boxes are open and I pass.
Local goodwill charges 1.29- 2.79 per; my in town charity shop 3.50 per puzzle
Those are really good prices too. I keep saying I need to head to Goodwill, but I never get the chance to. I don't even know if the location closest to me is still actually open. We shall see.
I'd watch a video of your Goodwill trip :)
@@rebekahnerad4900 Oh my goodness, I just had a stupid thought. What if I started the video with me arriving at the Goodwill, just to find out that it was permanently closed.
I revisit my favorite thrifts about once a month or two, with spontaneous stops. If i go too often i bring home some sad leftovers 😁
@@allisongerfin7804 This store may be a frequent stop for me 😁 thankfully its so cheap lol.
There are no trift stores I know of so I cant compare prices but i think any lower will be difficult to find. I think the glow in the dark might not work anymore.

I didn't think about the glow in the dark not working anymore. I need to test it now lol.
You can request their catolog
Yes! I've been getting them in the mail. They are so fun to flip through and it's so hard to control the urge to buy everything 😅

Wow, an even better price! That's awesome. That's just as good as being free 😂 If my thrift store charged that much, I could've bought twice as many...but then again, it's probably best that they don't. Then I would definitely wipe off the shelves LOL.

Oh, that Seasons of Change jigsaw looks really nice. 🙂 Glow in the dark? It's been radiated lol Never heard of a panorama jigsaw before....sounds interesting. There is another shop in Belgrade with diff name (forgotten it off hand) and way more expensive, like....wwwaaaayyyyyy more expensive.
