    I came across in researching how to repair a fountain pump. This helped tremendously, but I took one further. In the space were the plug used to be I inserted a water line to refill the pump from the sprinkler system.

    Excellent! Our backyard fountain is not quit that big. But it is very heavy concrete. It already has the little access hole in the back where the pump is located. After 13 years the Little Giant pump has pumped its last pump! The power to the pump comes up under the pedestal in the center of the fountain and is epoxied in place. No way to replace that. Your idea of drilling the hole for the new pump wire is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a bunch!! 👍

    I have been thinking about purchasing a fountain for my greenhouse. One of the fountains, a 3 tier does not hold a lot of water and one has to add water every day that is what I am reading. I say build a little underground pond that will hold the water. Your video was nice because you solved a problem after I read some reviews of a few complaints about a certain fountain. Some of the fountains now already have the access area to replace the pump. This is needed if it's a China product. Say What! 😵‍💫Thanks for you video, I enjoyed it. 😊

    • @JohnCRV
      @JohnCRV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure what your purpose for the fountain but these fountains can also be installed inside a large basin (small pond or pool) in which can hold many gallons of water, depends how big you want it. I agree with you on the cheap products made who knows where :)
      BTW, we add water once every few days and the amount depends on the wind and how sunny its been..... Good luck and thanks for the feedback.

    • @thebelieversplace
      @thebelieversplace ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnCRV Hello, the purpose, there are at least two reasons. One is that I love the joy of watching the water fall and the sounds it makes, it is hypnotic, relaxing. The 2nd reason is that it adds to my greenhouse.
      Having a pool of water inside the green house I can keep the water at a certain temperature that is best for the plants inside the greenhouse. This to provides water for watering the plants. Now in the winter using a garden hose the water is very cold and I don't want to drive the plants into shock and its my solution in order to keep the plants thriving to keep the water at greenhouse temps. The goal is to grow many herbs, veggies in a small space and enjoy the environment creating a small area where I can sit and relax, grow editable flowers and I call it my 10' x 10' x 10' cube greenhouse. It is a small greenhouse that will become a place were I can grab something to eat that is healthy. So having a fountain for my greenhouse over a pool of water will serve me in more than one way. Good luck with you as well. 😊

    I was looking for some help with my fountain and found you, great video and looks like you did an outstanding guide. I also watched your connector video which I ordered just a moment ago which will help me attach our fountain to the house through a wire that I found when planting a palm tree. The people that built this house had a fountain I come to find out. And with your connectors being used I dont have to use an outlet but use a direct line to the house, controlled by fuse box in garage. We purchased this great home in oct 2015 and as a retired manager I am finding out how to save a lot of money by watching all the info on youtube and you have now helped me also. My only problem was building the fountain in the front yard, pretty heavy for an old guy but got it done. Thankyou again for your great videos, which I have now subscribed too. Maybe you can help me keep this home up to par here in northern florida...don't suppose you know a rain dance because I don't think we have had any this month of March and only 3 days left.

      Hello Don, I'm glad this is helping some people out there. The switch inside sounds convenient.
      By the way, us old guys have an advantage I'm finding out. We use our brain more than muscle! 😂 and the job gets done, Wish I did more of that when I was younger 🤔
      Yeah, This year has been dry. Our lake is at least 2 feet lower compared to last year. We get these dry spells every few years...

  • @mystijkissler8183
    @mystijkissler8183 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Helped me out a lot. I have a old fountain and didn't know how to get the plug through the small opening, so you explained there's a connector I can purchase. Awesome. Now, how does the tubing work above to the tier? I'll fumble through fine. The enclosure for the pump separates from the tier, but 37 years later it had crumbled, so I found a sturdy ceramic stucco type planter the same size and color as a replacement. Might need to make a cement replacement. Thank you.

    • @JohnCRV
      @JohnCRV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the waterproof connector has to be waterproof, the link for them is in the description.
      Now, the tubing attaches to the pump and goes all the way up to the last tier, it should stick out above the last tier at least 1/2" inch or higher depending how high you like the splash back down. If you already have the hose in there, just connect it to the pump. If you need to get one, you want to make sure it fits the pump and the holes going up the tiers. You can purchase the hose at HOME DEPOT or LOWES since the sell it by the foot and will cut it for you.
      Hope this helps and good luck on your restoration.

    I've seen on Piterest that you can take a cut piece of Styrofoam almost size of the opening, then cover it in quick cement from Home Depot or Lowes. Smooth it to the size you want then let it dry!! After its really dry, you can paint it the color of your nice fountain if you wish. Then place it in the open spot!!! Hope this gives you ideas!!

    Just what I was looking for! I have a fountain that has its pump hard wired and the pump failed. I want to move the fountain to the front yard and use an extension cord. What kind of wire did you use between the plug and fountain? Where can I buy the water proof connectors? Thank you!

    We have the exact same fountain that came with the house we bought 2.5 years ago…. I’m trying to figure out how to assemble this the correct way along with changing out the pump that went out 😩…. Any idea of what kind of fountain this is…. I keep searching but this is the obit video I have found with the same so far 🙏🤞🏼. TIA!!

    • @JohnCRV

      These were made by a stone casting company down in Miami FL. They went out of business years ago.... They are very good quality but they never thought of giving access to the pump in case it goes bad or they wanted you to call them to do it, in which they would disassemble it and replace the pump, Which is a waste of time and money....
      If yours is still disassembled, then you just need to make the hole to have access to the pump before putting it together.....
      To assemble they had 3 people and it took them about an hour. I had to build the platform and it must be at least 4 inch thick concrete also be very level... then they installed each tear bonding it together with a high quality grout and was leveled using small pieces of gravel in the grout as shims.... they inserted the hose from the top to the bottom of the access hole and into the pump.... The only piece not grouted was the decorative top in which we take off by sliding it off the hose when we have hurricanes...
      Hope this helps,

      Thank you so much for your response! I’m going to try and cut the access point out myself…. I have it all taken down with the exception of the base bowl and pedestal…. So I still can’t get to the cord of the existing pump. I’m going to attempt to do what you’ve done by using the connectors. Truly appreciate you responding! 🙏

    I already have access to defective pump I am wondering about the effectiveness of the waterproof connectors in that I could just do that and replace the pump. My question is a safety issue because that connection will be submerged. The fountain is at my church. Kids may stick their fingers in the water.

    • @JohnCRV
      @JohnCRV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are very effective if installed correctly. My connection is often submerged when we get heavy rain. If you want you can also wrap the connection with 228 Moisture sealing Electrical tape. Just for extra protection.
      Hope this helps.

    Nice work John. Two questions please? I am about to repair our fountain, installing a new submersible pump. I was wondering what to use to waterproof the power cord seal. I see the adhesive you used and will look for that in HD or the other big box store. I am hoping not to cut the new cord - seeing your repair makes it possible to make the connection if I need to cut. John, can you refer me to a name or website that offers that waterproof cord connector please? I want to have it on hand should I need to go in that direction. Thank you. Again, well done. Your fountain looks great!

      This is what I used to seal the wire. also used it for a swimming pool leak.
      SikaBond Construction Adhesive amzn.to/31MxCsj
      The way I applied it, I made sure it penetrated at least 1/2" into the whole that's submerged. wait at least 6 hours before filling the fountain.
