The stadium was built in stages and a lot of the original is almost hidden from the outside. They built it as a dorm because they needed dorm space and wanted a stadium but the legislature would only approve funding for a dorm. So they built a dorm shaped like a stadium.
Welcome to Death Valley! And Superior Grill before the game? There's not many better ways to do lunch before going. There's NOTHING like catching a game there, ESPECIALLY against Alabama. I've been following your journey across Louisiana, and I have to give you A LOT of love and appreciation for showing off the great parts of Louisiana. We catch enough flak, especially from people who've never been here, never lived here. It's great to see you enjoy why I've called this place home for 38 years and I've no intention of leaving. Thanks so much for coming and doing these videos. Between the food, the people, natural scenery...I love it here. 🫶

Glad you made it to Tiger Stadium! I actually saw you walking outside the stadium but it was so crowded I didn't get a chance to say hello. Hopefully the tigers will play better if you make another game! Thanks for great videos!
Glad you got to make the most out of the experience despite having to leave early. They sure do love their college football down there. So much so that it can get a little crazy at times. Bon weekend! 🍻🏈⚜️🇺🇸

I visited Baton Rouge when I was a college student at Arizona State in the 1980's. We went to New Orleans for Spring Break, and then spent a night in Baton Rouge, and it was a great college party town. There was also this incredible restaurant called Chimes, although it might not exist anymore. What an experience, and it's crazy you went to LSU vs Alabama, because there aren't a whole lot of games bigger than that one. You are chronicling the US like a modern day version of De Tocqueville, and it's great seeing the country through your eyes.

You actually had pretty good seats. For American football you'll wanna be sitting somewhat center field and fairly high up, so you can see the game like the TV cameras do, which allows you to see how the team formations and plays work out. Better seats would have been down one terrace level, but those weren't bad.
Great point. I've sat pretty much everywhere at football games (including standing on the field for 4 seasons working gameday ops for an SEC school). Upper deck is always the best view. It usually means the facilities up there are newer and the lines for restrooms and concessions are shorter as well. Just gotta make sure you're wearing your walking shoes lol
You picked a great stadium to go to. I’m a Texas fan and I’m looking forward to hitting all of these SEC stadiums. I did Texas A&M this year and it was a great environment.

It’s the largest stadium in the Western Hemisphere and it currently holds the NCAA single-season average home attendance record at 112,252 fans per game.
Superior Grill, my daughter's favorite place to eat. She will always go to eat there at least once when she is in town. They have to best Margretta's. They have one on Highland rd. not far from the Stadium.
My grandfather was om the sideline officiating crew at the stadium the Green Bay Packers played at before the current Lambeau Field. I wonder what he'd think seeing football stadiums now.

Bonjour Marie! Welp, it looks like you had a full, interesting day. Very kewl that you got to see a college football game. I think attending an NBA game live is the only major pro sport in the US that you haven't experienced live as of yet. Good game to have gone to, sorry the "ambiance" wasn't good...including the rain. Hope you're well! Bonne journee! ~Be Blessed
For future reference since no one told you this, but it never rains in Tiger Stadium. What you likely experienced was an unanticipated and sudden increase in humidity resulting in a localized accumulation of moisture.
It looks like you had a great experience at Tiger Stadium, especially if Alabama was in town. Believe it or not, there are three larger college stadiums in the US, all in the Big Ten Conference. Michigan Stadium- 107, 601 but usually gets up to about 110,000 if Ohio State is playing. Beaver Stadium at Penn State University- 107, 282, and Kyle Field (U. of Texas) at 102,733. The game of football first started at the college level (the pros followed many years later) and continues to be huge in America. There's more passion, rivalries and loyalties than in the NFL. It makes for an incredible experience, especially during the many rivalry games. I'm glad you were able to sample what it's all about.
Sorry, University of Texas is not a Big Ten team, it's in the Southwest Conference and is the fourth largest, although the numbers seem to keep changing. Ohio State Stadium is the third largest capacity at 102, 780. All of them can go a little higher when you include standing room. Suffice it to say, they're all huge!
Your fluency in English was confirmed by your 'comment' when you first came out to the upper deck, & were shocked by how high (literally) you were. You've come a long way, ma cherie !
I absolutely agree. Your choice word is exactly what all people who are fluent in English will say when they see something that shocks them for the first time. You have come a long way Marie. All of us Americans, should be very proud of you for using proper vernacular in expressing your feelings at the moment.❤👍
Fun Fact about the dormitories built into the stadium: The governor had the dorms built into the stadium in order to make it bigger. Welcome! France is an amazing country. No one is more passionate about sports than our French friends. It was America's first ally. I hope you had fun and we treated you well.
As a rule it's best to leave early in the fourth quarter at least or you will be stuck in the traffic for HOURS. My nephew found that out when he took his daughters to an NFL game for the first time. They actually only live like 2 hours away and it took them almost 6 to get home. Glad you enjoyed what you could!
Marie, I get the feeling that if somehow Louisiana/Cajun country could get rid of that oppressive humidity, you would love living there (or part-time). I love that area too, but Maine is my #1 for me :)
About the tiger… you should see his habitat. It’s amazing. It’s probably the most well taken care of tiger in the world. Also, the tiger (whose name is Mike, by the way) is introduced to crowds from the time he’s a small cub. And he chooses whether or not he wants to go to the game. He’s given a choice to enter his portable cage or not, and he knows the cage goes to the stadium. Some games he’s there, and some games he’s not. It’s his choice. If he didn’t want to be there, he didn’t have to be.
Except that wasn’t Mike. That was a rented tiger from Florida. The governor tried to manipulate LSU in making Mike attend the game. LSU held their ground and refused to let Mike attend the game. This Mike has never wanted to attend a game. They forced a scared tiger to travel from Florida, be sedated, and be put into a dangerous situation. All to stroke the governors ego and please some wealthy political donors. It’s shameful
That wasn't Mike the Tiger. Mike was in his Sanctuary. They don't bring him to the games anymore because the vet school wants to be an accredited tiger sanctuary. That was another Tiger Landry brought in for a publicity stunt.
That wasn’t Mike the tiger. That was someone’s pet tiger. Gov Landry is fighting with LSU to have a tiger at the game, and they don’t want to subject Mike to the stadium. So somebody loaned their tiger for the game.
I recently moved to Columbia, Missouri. The University of Missouri's team is also THE TIGERS. In fact the Missouri Tigers frequently play the LSU Tigers. And Clemson University's team name is also The Tigers, and the Missouri Tigers play the Clemson Tigers.
Almost all other college football games are not like this. Games and venues like this are rare and only happen for certain college conferences. Most college football games are played in much smaller stadiums with fewer than 5000 people in attendance. It all depends on what conference your school is in.
I sorry you had to leave early, but I understand your reasoning. Danny didnt like the ending anyway. LSU has a great stadium. Game days aside, Mike the Tiger, must live a pretty nice life. I'm thinking he is spoiled. I wish you could have stayed through halftime just for more of the traditions. If you heard the fans singing "Neck" what did you think? It is one of the interesting things the fans do. 😊 (Google the song at your own risk) I hope you have seen pictures of all the snow Louisiana got last week. It was a once in a century snow storm. They seemed to be having a lot of fun.
We have four stadiums for college football in Florida. The Swamp in Gainesville, The Bounce House in Orlando, the Seminole stadium in Tallahassee, and hurricane stadium in Miami. The swamp in Gainesville is actually quieter as the major hospital is nearby and they have to keep it down and the walls of the stadium have soundproofing built in. The bounce house can be louder due to where it is but it’s where the WWE has major shows when they are in town. The WWE run smaller shows out of the performance center in winter park but use the smaller basketball stadium for medium sized events. The bounce house was built as a multi-event venue where everything can be easily switched around in less than a day. It can go from a college football field to a wrestling arena in about six hours. It is also the monster truck arena every year when they do events. The bounce house has every seat on a suspension system as when the college team plays certain music people jump around on the seats and it resembles the bounce houses kids use. The concrete is also the new reinforced stuff that can take over 3000 pounds per square inch. It had to be made that way to make it safe for people to bounce around without breaking the floor.
You should go to a local car show if you like hot rods once a month usually to drive in or something they got some really beautiful old iron here in the Midwest it will make you smile 😁💯
A young lady from France moved next door to me in New Orleans. She was in town for 6 months to improve her English language skills. I showed her around various places in New Orleans and ran into problems a couple of times. At the zoo I pointed out the sea lions and expected her to say, la mer lion or something like that. Instead, she said, "phoque", which sounded like, well, you know. Moms standing around us covered their child's ears as I led Marie away quickly. Then when I took her sailing, I pointed to the front sail and said, "jib", and Marie responded with, "foc", which sounded like, well, you know. That must be where the term, "pardon my French" comes from.
The pelicans reminded me of an old childhood poem about pelicans called," What a strange bird the Pelican". Oh what a strange bird is the Pelican. His beak can hold more than his belly can. He can hold in his beak enough food for a week, but I'll be damned if I see how the hell he can
I'm not too into sports, myself. Never been to an LSU football game. Way too overwhelming, but I've been to a women's basketball game and a baseball game much earlier, as a kid. I prefer more laid back stuff. Maybe a small music venue, museums, restaurants, coffeeshops, and that kind of thing. I don't like Mardi Gras, at least since I was a kid, and even then, I just went to the smaller parade in Metairie.
The stadium was built in stages and a lot of the original is almost hidden from the outside. They built it as a dorm because they needed dorm space and wanted a stadium but the legislature would only approve funding for a dorm. So they built a dorm shaped like a stadium.

Almost all other college football games are not like this. Games and venues like this are rare and only happen for certain college conferences. Most college football games are played in much smaller stadiums with fewer than 5000 people in attendance. It all depends on what conference your school is in.
Glad you got to experience. Sorry for the early departure. You Tube video could have shown you what it looks like. Expensive for tickets.
😊 (Google the song at your own risk)
I hope you have seen pictures of all the snow Louisiana got last week.
You should go to a local car show if you like hot rods once a month usually to drive in or something they got some really beautiful old iron here in the Midwest it will make you smile 😁💯
glad you got to see the fanfare of a college game
The best sports experience at LSU is baseball. Seven times national champions. More exciting that football or basketball by a longshot.
You got to go to LSU , Alabama?? Are you kidding me?
Best college game day atmosphere in the country. Hey Danny, long time no see. I love watching this channel.
That is false
The pelicans reminded me of an old childhood poem about pelicans called," What a strange bird the Pelican".
Oh what a strange bird is the Pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak
enough food for a week,
but I'll be damned if I see how the hell he can
I'm not too into sports, myself.
