When twisting the multi strand wires on your lights, it is easier to twist with the insulation after it has been cut and is still on the wire. Twist the insulation and then pull it off.

Trailer light wiring is a new maintenance task for me...
    Working with a limited budget,
Basically have been probing and trouble shooting to find my way.
Learned it is not suggested to use the ball hitch as a ground and to start at the tow vehicle,
check the harness pins for correct color coding and operations...
    "Who knew"?
Back to the drawing board tomorrow,
Hopefully all the lighting would be functioning practical by Noon.

My trailers rear lights work but I want to add side markers would I have to just tap in to the wire running back to each side markers? And which would it be

Tap into the (typically brown) but not always, tail/running lights and then ground accordingly.

I need to replace a wiring harness for my Bass Tracker trailer. It has a total of 7 wires (2 brown- one from each side, 1 green, 1 yellow, 2 white or cream- one from each side, and an additional white ground on the trailer.) It has bare wires at the connector and needs replaced. I got a 4 wire connector because that is the end that matches my vehicle. The new 4 wire has 1 white, 1 brown, 1 yellow, 1 green of course. What do I do with the 2 white/cream wires (one coming from each side?)

How do you hide the wire if you can’t get a zip tie around the metal and between the wood of the trailer to hold the wire up

I have an issue with my left signal doing nothing and my right signal does both left and right flashers. brakes work fine tho.

I would check your ground and make sure you are getting it grounded to bare metal.

Where was the main ground wired at? Or where should I place mine? I plan on wiring a dolly by myself and I'm just 13😆 Anyone got any pointers?

Most people use a self tapping screw somewhere around the front/tongue of the trailer as a ground point. This 'in theory' makes the entire metal trailer a ground. While this is correct, it is just simply lazy but cost efficient. The trailer manufacturers do this so they don't have to spend more money on ground wire. You should run a ground wire to every single light on the trailer. Don't rely on using the metal of the trailer as a ground. It will rust/corrode over time and cause you to loose grounds.

Wire the side markers to the wire for the taillights. I believe it’s standard to be the brown wire for the tail lights/running lights

  • @taylorbandy821
    @taylorbandy821 ปีที่แล้ว

Did all the wiring correct, at least I’m pretty sure…
    Green to green
    Yellow to yellow
    White to white
    Brown to yellow/brown and green/brown
But everything works except the running lights???

Mine does not have brakes but if yours does it is the same just match up the wire for the electric brakes.

Assuming, you mean brake lights. The (green+brown) green wire is for the right side turn signal and stop light. The (yellow+brown) yellow wire is for the left side turn signal and stop light. The Brown wire is for the running/tail lights when the headlights are on.

Why would you have the trailer halfway in the garage and halfway out of the garage so you have to scoot by every time you need to move back-and-forth why is it so hard to find a good wiring video

I know we live in a throw everything away and buy new but when something is working I don’t see the benefit in just throwing it away.
Especially some thing that can be easily swapped out later if needed.
Thanks for watching and for your feedback.

M L, you can't trust a guy that has a garage but no parts bins. Like an old coffee can full of screws or baby food jars full of nuts & bolts. If he wants to keep that light for later then that's his business. You look like you drive a BMW anyway.
