    Still just the best watch content on youtube. For me. Perfect blend of objective stats and subjective thoughts and dad jokes and beautiful photography and taking the subject and the presenter and the audience just seriously enough.

    It kind of feels like Oris rushed this one out, not applying the changes more consistently across the range, and putting out very little information on what exactly changed. I checked the website just now, and your video is much more informative on the changes and which models get them. Also very annoying that they left the microadjust off the Sellita version.

    • @shasty3139
      @shasty3139 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The biggest offense is that the microadjust bracelet is compatible with 41.5 mm Sellita version, but Oris just decided to not include it with the package.
      Per Hodinkee: "I spoke with Oris, and they confirmed that one could - for example - buy a 41.5mm Aquis Date and then buy/fit the bracelet from the 43.5mm (with its quick release and quick adjust systems)."

      @padde88 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      43mm =24mm lug
      41mm =22mm lug
      This cannot fit...am i wrong?

    • @SinnerAndSaint
      @SinnerAndSaint 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree. I don't like that they seem to play the Rolex game and let all the nuances be discovered by the media and people that are into it.

    • @MikoTheTomCat
      @MikoTheTomCat 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I disagree, changes are implemented over time. Lok at how Rolex do things. Oris have totally updated the whole watch! They did an amazing job and have answered all our wishes with the Aquis 400 updates.

    • @SinnerAndSaint
      @SinnerAndSaint 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MikoTheTomCat I get your point but I think you can't compare those two models (not only brands). When buying a Submariner you have a handful of options. When buying an Oris Aquis you have countless options. The differences are pretty clear most of the time (different size, different movement, special edition etc.). In that case Oris does advertise this as "the NEW Aquis". Even Evan in this video toned this down to "the updated Oris Aquis". Which is much closer to reality imho. That said, there's nothing wrong with changing just subtle details over time. But if you think about their new versions during the last years most would except a lot more than just those minor details.

    Disappointed they discontinued the 39.5mm. I also don't understand why brands like Oris don't use the SW300 with extended power reserve for their third party movements

    • @CombatRat

      It looks like the 39.5mm model is not discontinued... yet. The fact that they didn't get any updates though, well, the writing is on the wall. I came here to share this sentiment.
      But also agree, you should be getting a SW300 for $2700.

      100% on the movement. Why any brand uses the SW200 confuses me. It’s a grainy clunky movement with a very outdated power reserve

    • @jeffd3802
      @jeffd3802 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      True. Or atleast they could have used a top grade or c.o.s.c with some decoration. I mean look at mido ocean tar 200 line. Specifically the ceramic. It has a better movement, bracelet with ratcheting clasp, and the case with the polished beveled edges. Not too mention the double sided sapphire, talk about a underrated watch all for around $840 @hammalamiri12

    Seeing these changes makes me appreciate my Cherry Red all the more. As someone with declining eyesight, the last thing I need is thinner hands. I like the color matched date. Impressed that they finally listened to their fans on that one.
    Very annoyed that the microadjust isn't on the entire Aquis range. It's a feature that you can get on most watches for under $1,000, but Oris makes you pay over $3,500. Thanks for "giving back" to your fans Oris.
    Thanks for being one of the few reviewers to give Oris the time during W&W! 😊

    I had an Aquis for about 6 years and wore it fairly regularly, and I never found that the polished outer links really took on any undue wear. Now, compare that with my Omega AT with polished center links...that bracelet looks pretty rough. I think polishing the outer links was a good move from my experience. They really don't show any wear because of the minimal size, at least not the way the larger, in your face center links do on my AT which are just covered in swirls and scratches.

    Wow, that "case expending past the bezel" difference, that you find so hard to spot, makes a huge difference imo, and I think I noticed it right away.

    Can someone appreciate the fact that Oris finally released an on the fly adjustment? Apparently really only on the 43,5 mm. But having owned one, they wear much smaller. With a 6.75 inch wrist I'd buy the 43,5 mm again, now that's even thinne.

      Would you say the 43.5 is acceptable on a 6.75 in wrist? I'm debating the 43 vs 41. I like the 41.5 upcycle but I'm afraid the dial is going to look small and kind of just blurry from a distance

    Gonna be honest, I like the changes, but I really disagree with the price increase being as much as it is. I got a 43.5mm Aquis Cherry in September, and LOVE it. It’s a fantastic watch, and I really don’t regret getting it at my local AD even having basically paid full retail. I just think that increasing the price this much, and not adding some kind of on the fly adjustment system when they already changed the design of the bracelet is kinda silly.
    I can’t say it isn’t worth the price, but I don’t think I’d pay that much to have a red date wheel given the option over my black date wheel. Would be nice to have though 🤣

    I appreciate what you're doing here, brother. I couldn't tell the difference at all on just the website and the marketing materials.
    Do I like that Oris is iterating on their designs? Yes.
    Do I think there are other designs they should focus on instead? YES.
    They won't give me a proper "professional" dial akin to their regular ProPilot line on the ProPilot X, for goodness' sake.
    Another year, another launch where I'm hoping they finally give me a ProPilot X with a dial worthy of the name and not just a flat, boring, set of printed markers. The line deserves applied markers with arabic numerals so it actually looks like a Professional Pilot's watch.

    • @Contredanse
      @Contredanse 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IDKline To clarify, meant it within just the context of Oris. I didn't mean for it to apply more broadly. The Oris ProPilot line generally has applied markers across the board.

    I found the polished outer links do pick up finger prints but a) the surface area is so small I really only see prints around the lug area, an area that on other watches with polished cases pick up prints as well, b) even when my bracelet has prints on it I seldom notice them unless I look for them, and c) from more than 5 feet away prints are not noticeable. The polished outer links are less in your face than say an oyster bracelet with polished centre links and still dress up the watch a bit more. While fine brushing is my preference, this watch helped me get over my fear of finger prints and appreciate the extra flare and how it can elevate an outfit.
    Also side note, seeing a co worker daily a Daytona with polished centre links as a work beater has shown me even with mirror polishing, scratches and prints are nowhere near as noticeable from across a table as you'd think.
    Watches are meant to be worn, if a finger print bothers you, keep it in the box. Cheers!

    I can't comprehend how the 39.5mm model is seemingly going to be discontinued, seeing as how it didn't receive any updates. Is Oris really selling more 36.5mm Aquises (what's the plural of Aquis? Aqui?), which was updated, than 39.5mm versions? The Aquis may wear smaller than its dimensions in general, but only slightly so. The 39.5mm model is the one to get for people wanting Black Bay 58 proportions. I guess I'll be waiting for a long time for a 39.5mm Caliber 400 version...
    On the polished bracelet links, I think it works in the case of the Aquis, simply because the top of the lugs are polished, creating visual continuity and delivering on the integrated-ness of the "integrated bracelet" (which isn't really an integrated bracelet as much as a proprietary lug width, as I see it). If the lugs remain polished on the top and the bracelet was made all-brushed, I think it would be a jarring look. An all-brushed case and bracelet might be an option down the road---as I recall they did have that as an option previously.

    I have the original SW200 39.5 green Aquis, absolutely love it. Definitely a favorite of mine. The SW200 is a piece of crap however, I wish Oris would use the LJP G100 in their entry-level watches instead. I'm also not a fan of increasing the taper on the bracelet. Mine is very unbalanced because all the weight is on the top. Not sure why they'd make it even worse.
    PS why am I into POLs on the Aquis? Well I'm not really but they've given me no trouble, held up well and Oris has an authorized parts dealer on the east coast that I cannot remember the name of who sells Aquis bracelets and iirc they are around $300 shipped to you. So wear it with abandon.

      I have the 41.5 in cherry red and it's probably my most worn watch. It's a cut above the Seikos and microbrands which elevates it, but it's not so expensive that I am scared to wear it even if I don't have any excuse. While the SW200 isn't exactly thrilling, it does a good job and I don't object to it. I wear a different watch each day so any power reserve over about 4 hours is wasted on me. I do agree that the new taper here seems too much. It's already a bit dressy with the polished outer links and that aggressive taper throws off the balance to me. I do like the polished outer links.... maybe just because they are different.

    That’s probably quite a lot of changing to tooling and manufacture to achieve pretty much nothing. It’s looks a bit desperate to be honest. I agree with the packaging , I can’t see the point in paying g for costly packaging , to store it in a cupboard. Maybe offer it as a extra if you’re going to gift the watch for a significant occasion to make it dramatic and memorable , but I don’t want to pay for it by default

    Hmm... I'm a big Oris fan and owned 6 watches of this brand. Currently I still have two different Oris Aquis' left in my collection. I really don't know what to say about the new ones. But tbh these changes look to me that Oris was just trying to find a justification to increase the prices of their base Aquis models... Because seriusly. The very subtle changes on the hands, indexes and the case are just minor details. Personally I love the old version better which is of course just a personal opinion. But the only changes to talk about are a colered date disc as well as an open caseback (which wasn't really mentioned in the video?). Nothing that would justify paying 300 bucks more IMHO.
    Major drawback for me is the new packaging. It's not that I need another big and bulky box but in the end we're talking about a LUXURY item. It's nothing more, just pure luxury. And I don't want to get something like this in a f***ing cheap cardboard. Breitling did the same a few months / years back and the 'environmental friendly' argument is just bullsh*t, let's be real. It's just a matter of saving more money. Nothing wrong with a basic cardboard box but then put a useful travelcase in whatever taste inside so that we have some benefit from the change. Check the microbrand Furlan Marri and their packaging for example - that's how you should do it. This? Is just a joke IMHO. Especially when I'm looking at my special edition Clean Ocean limited edition with a very special seaweed-based box.

    Cheap packaging, under the facade of sustainability, is simply a cost cutting strategy. Christopher Ward gets it right balancing sustainability and still retaining a premium packaging experience.

      100% agreed. Bad move. Breitling did exactly that just some time ago. It's especially ridiculous as I'm also owning the Clean Ocean limited edition which has a very special packaging with an algae-based box. Marketed as 'sustainable box to be environmental friendly' 😂 That thing was awesome and special. A simple cardboard box is just a cost cutting move. Agreed on the CW packaging which is awesome.

    So they did literally nothing to justify the price increase. They could have fit the new model with Sellita SW300 movements and make the case slimmer as a result - this was a perfect opportunity to introduce these two upgrades and they have missed out big time.

    This is more exciting than anything that’s released from watches and wonders😂 This is a great update! Love the fact they took the packaging cost and put it into the watch itself. For those looking at this tho I’d wait till Jomashop gets some in stock. They’re heavily discounted once posted there. Still super nice for $2700 imo.

    So we're always told microbrands are cheaper because of their economical packaging, how is this Oris now $300 more expensive with less packaging cost? That box looks like shit. I'm sorry I'm not buying a $2700 watch that showed up in that crap. Make my money at least FEEL like it's well spent at presentation. Wrong move Oris.

    Go for this version of the watch. The calibre 400 has so many problems. And they have still not made a fault free 400 calibre yet. It is not worth the price.
