Glassy Nude Nails - How To BIAB | Shonagh Scott

  • As per your requests, here is a tutorial on how I create my glassy nude nails! This is a gel polish overlay on my natural nails, however, you can use the Builder Gel to extend the tips of your nails if you use a form. Teddy is my favourite nude polish! The gel really is tough as nails and will be amazing if you struggle with weak natural nails.
    No base is required with the BIAB

    I’m not a nail girl at all but watching this makes me want to be a nail girl, lol. I really love how natural the colour looks. I have the same problem with breakage. I can grow my nails long but only to a certain point before they are prone to breaking. 💅

    • @ldavey1398

      Nail tech here - you need a lamp with a low heat setting. It avoids heat spikes and BIAB needs to be cured slowly and gradually - 90 seconds or more. Undercured gel is what causes allergies and reactions.

      Cure the first layer before applying your slip layer for the second coat. You don’t cure this layer before applying the bigger bead of gel as this will work as a puddle for the bead to pull into.

    • @ShonaghScott
      @ShonaghScott  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They likely won’t last AS long as gel polish but it will help to prevent chipping of your regular polish. You must leave a little gap around the cuticle and sidewalls for the clear UV top coat to adhere to the natural nail bed or it will just peel off after a day or two. Don’t forget to cap the free edge as well.

    I doubt you or anyone will see this.. but before you put that too coat on.. could you add on a coat on the normal gel? I’m just thinking one of their light sheer shimmers.. and then the top coat?

      Hi Laura, yes you can! I’ve just created a Rose Quartz look using Clear BIAB topped with Silk Gel from the same brand, followed by the top coat.

    I really love this colour how do I buy it without being a certified nail tech?

      Someone found a dupe in the comments. I’m a certified technician so that’s why I’m able to purchase it.

    Can i use this beautifull color without the device?

    • @ShonaghScott
      @ShonaghScott  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could use it with a generic UV lamp but bare in mind it can cause heat spikes with this product which can damage your nailbed, the TGB lamp has been designed to prevent heat spikes. You can’t use this polish without a lamp.

      Hey Heather,
      I don’t believe so. I’m a certified nail tech so I can purchase it, however, there was a few dupe suggestions in the comments.

      No, it’s not necessary with this brand or BIAB shade.

    Hello! What is the difference between this and a regular gel manicure?

    • @ShonaghScott
      @ShonaghScott  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This gel is called Builder which means you can add/build structure to the natural nails, ideal for those that are brittle. Regular gel polish is very thin in its consistency, similar to a regular nail polish but the viscosity is ever so slightly thicker. And then this builder gel is even thicker.

    Hi Shonagh! Love this video, have done my nails 3 times already with this method. However when I try to remove the product my nails get really bad.. the surface get’s terrible.. how do you remove it without hurting your nails? I’ve been trying with acetone to soak it in, but it doesn’t get off fully.
    Can you please give me advice?☺️🌸

    • @renukarajaram26
      @renukarajaram26 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi if you use the rubber base it should be able to soak off with aceton. The biab is file off that is why you probably could not get it off easily.

    • @KA-vd9wm
      @KA-vd9wm 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You shouldn't soak it off all the time. It defeats the whole purpose of BIAB. Just file it and fill.

    Do you cap the nail on the first layer or last or both or all?

    • @ShonaghScott
      @ShonaghScott  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not necessary with builder in the same way it is with gel. I usually just use my fine liner brush to pull it towards the tip so it’s completely even around the free edge but I wouldn’t cap it off in the ordinary way with the brush as it would be too thick.
