I’m not a nail girl at all but watching this makes me want to be a nail girl, lol. I really love how natural the colour looks. I have the same problem with breakage. I can grow my nails long but only to a certain point before they are prone to breaking. 💅
Hi Shonagh, really nice video! I want to buy a beginners kit for myself. Can you indicate the tools you used in the video, like the sharp cuticle pusher and the small brush to help guide the gel? Many thanks!
Hey! I love the color of this nail polish but I can't purchase it since I am not a professional. Do you have any alternative gel nail polishes that are the same color and that I could purchase?
Thanks for this, Shonagh! When I get a bit lower in quantity of my current gel I am going to try this for sure. Meantime I'll satisfy my urge to shop with the Cuticle Away. 🤭
Yes you can use the forms! Apply a thin layer first to create the shape then cure it. Then apply a slip layer, and then a bead to build up on it, the same way you would here in this video.
Hey Carmel! Thank you. No, you don’t need to but I usually wipe over the nail with acetone having removed the previous BIAB so it’s usually dehydrated anyway. It definitely won’t hurt but it’s not necessary.
Wow, I LOVE the natural look of your nails. What an amazing job! I was wondering if you could tell me the best type of UV lamp you used I cure the gel? My nails are so weak and I need something quality because I really want to attempt this and keep it up. Please and thanks! You’re amazing!
Thank you so much for this video, I bought the products and my nails came out perfectly! I've always wanted that glassy pink look but could never get it with normal nail polish and this stuff is so easy to work with! Can you paint over these if you fancy a change with normal nail polish though? I'm most grateful to you! xx
If I do gel nails like the video can you remove the gel with just nail polish remover or do you have to use a specific product? Great video please let me know.
Cure the first layer before applying your slip layer for the second coat. You don’t cure this layer before applying the bigger bead of gel as this will work as a puddle for the bead to pull into.
So Happy you showed this and that all of the products are cruelty free! I had given up on nails, now I might test it again. Is a certain type of lamp you have, or will any do?
Nail tech here - you need a lamp with a low heat setting. It avoids heat spikes and BIAB needs to be cured slowly and gradually - 90 seconds or more. Undercured gel is what causes allergies and reactions.
You could use it with a generic UV lamp but bare in mind it can cause heat spikes with this product which can damage your nailbed, the TGB lamp has been designed to prevent heat spikes. You can’t use this polish without a lamp.
Hi Charlotte, You only require a rubber base coat with gel colours and I believe the original Clear BIAB (but not the clear All In One BIAB). And yes, top coat required for all (again, except the All In Ones - even though I still personally add the top coat to them).
Just to prevent any under-curing. Under-cured gel can cause lifting and other problems so it’s worth just making sure that all is fully cured. Also, because we only partly cured each nail as we went, they didn’t have a full cure until the last nail is complete. Gel can appear cured on the outside but the inside can be slightly under, it’s never happened to me but I’ve seen cases of it online so it’s important just to make sure it’s solid from the inside out. I know the gel bottle recommend 60-seconds but I prefer to stick to the original 120-secs for the final cure. Hope that explains it well ☺️👍🏼
@@youreinacultcallyourdad395 Thanks for posting this! So you’re saying that one you completed the Groupon course you received a certificate and a number that you could enter on The Gel Bottle’s site which allowed you to order their products? Have you actually received your order? And can you link the Groupon course you took? Thanks! ❤️
Hey I just brought a UV lamp finally and then realised all my fave tutorials are using regular polish -not gel/UV set.. can I put on regular polish and then use a UV set top coat to get the look of my favourite polishes but have the long lasting affect of UV set polish?? TY
They likely won’t last AS long as gel polish but it will help to prevent chipping of your regular polish. You must leave a little gap around the cuticle and sidewalls for the clear UV top coat to adhere to the natural nail bed or it will just peel off after a day or two. Don’t forget to cap the free edge as well.
It’s not necessary with builder in the same way it is with gel. I usually just use my fine liner brush to pull it towards the tip so it’s completely even around the free edge but I wouldn’t cap it off in the ordinary way with the brush as it would be too thick.
This gel is called Builder which means you can add/build structure to the natural nails, ideal for those that are brittle. Regular gel polish is very thin in its consistency, similar to a regular nail polish but the viscosity is ever so slightly thicker. And then this builder gel is even thicker.
If it’s rippling you likely have applied too much, if it’s too thick it won’t cure from the inside out. Are you using this particular brand? You want to flash cure for around 30/40 seconds.
Great video. I'm just getting to doing my nails. . I did builder gel and then I put gel polish on. It turned out nice. But I'm still learning. Your nails 💅 are lovely.
It’s called a bladed manicure tool, you can get a similar one from Navy Tools: www.navyprofessional.com/collections/nails/products/ethel-manicure-multi-tool
I doubt you or anyone will see this.. but before you put that too coat on.. could you add on a coat on the normal gel? I’m just thinking one of their light sheer shimmers.. and then the top coat?

Yes you can use the forms! Apply a thin layer first to create the shape then cure it. Then apply a slip layer, and then a bead to build up on it, the same way you would here in this video.
Perfect 😍 But how to remove it ?
Hi Shonagh, fab video! Do you need dehydrate and prime before this BIAB? Thanks 😊xx

You can purchase from NailzKatKat without a certificate!

Cure the first layer before applying your slip layer for the second coat. You don’t cure this layer before applying the bigger bead of gel as this will work as a puddle for the bead to pull into.
This tutorial was perfect ! I love how it was in real time & all the tips you gave ! Definitely going to give this a go 🫶🏽

Why do you cure for two minutes at the end? The GelBottle says to do it for 60secs. Just curious if there’s added benefit.
Just to prevent any under-curing. Under-cured gel can cause lifting and other problems so it’s worth just making sure that all is fully cured. Also, because we only partly cured each nail as we went, they didn’t have a full cure until the last nail is complete.
