Its a brilliant idea to branch out into old fan-made content, there is so much that is forgotten for all earlier valve games and worthy of a closer look like this. I hope to see more of this

Since this map was made for combine vs rebel fights in HL2:DM, it was probably meant to take place during the battle described.
The rebels: just relaxing and talking to eachother

I used to beta testing Xitis' map with him. I remember when I was playing at his home and it took HOURS to compile his maps. I was fascinated by the speed Xitis was mapping in Hammer and by how much he was involve in modding. He was making map for fun and today he is working in video game development.
I let him know of your video. I believe he will be glad that his creation is still moving the world.

I always loved maps that tell stories, I remember this one custom L4D2 survival map that told the story of a family trying to protect themselves from the infection, but failing

Hey radiation hazerd Ive had an idea for a half life 1 mod that just brings a quality of life changes I.e 120 fov support, better flashlight. Stuff like that. Do you have any knowledge on goldsrc modding
Idunno why youd ask him but you can actually set the FOV up to 120 in console, its default_fov 120 to get 120 firld of view
ive never used this but also viewmodel_fov 120 might help!!!

I came through this map while looting the multiverse in Jazztronaughts, it was quite the strange place, looted as quickly as I could and got out of dodge. The place was creepy to me.

The map's aesthetics reminds me of the Myst games.
honestly this map seems pretty damn cool but personally i think its overshadowed by the fact that *who would live on and like this* who would live in a place with bridges made of mainly basically the wood equivalent of scrap, houses wich are probably only like 30% supported at most, etc

You should make more videos talking about hl2dm custom map backstories, there are so many maps with backstories to theme, island17, construction, etc. If a map's backstory is to short for its own video then put it into a compilation of smaller maps with backstories.

as far as source maps go, this genuinely just looks like a really well-built, well-made map. The brushwork is phenomenal. I'd love to renovate it with some HDR and higher lightmaps.

No it is a fan made map for Half Life 2 Deathmatch.
Lovely looking map, though given how the boat is still there, held in place by rope, unless another boat was used, whatever happened left nobody behind. Interesting backstory, and always worth trying to show something might have happened to a map.
you should make videos on the backstory of an old hl2 coop mod called obsidian conflict. development started up again on it 3 years ago and it hasn't slowed down since. most maps have a backstory. just go onto the obsidian conflict map data base and download some maps for the mod or start up a map officially included.
I met your content recently and I am loving it, your videos are so good and have a lot of information that I didn't saw in others videos. You have a great potential.
in most source maps it always seems like you're not alone, and that there is some one mysteriously watching you, but in this map the only thing a suppose I could think is I am alone, as if there was no one else.
But that might just be me.
