I think one thing I love most about this guy, is that his voice text sound effect is grabbed from the same sound clip repeating throughout his theme saying "Now's your chance to be a BIG SHOT!"
In this particular scene, Kris backs away significantly when Spamton mentions their soul... I wonder why. (When Spamton is literally inches away from them while mentioning [[Hyperlink Blocked]], they don't show a reaction...)
This dude is so unsettling and a little tragic. And all of his themes absolutely slap. The "Now's your chance to be a big shot" voice sample being warped and cut gives the song such unique character, I absolutely love it
whats tragic about him? i was watching the ost after finishing the game and saw he had a neo theme, but he doesnt have a neo fight at least not that i encountered. is it different if you use mercy on him? i just fought since i thought my choices didnt matter in deltarune, and the fight mechanics are just more fun for me.
He just wanted to be a big shot the people whom knew him say he was just trying to make a living but nothing sold for him he may have been driven insane by this until someone called him And he changed he wants your soul so he can live! So he can be... A BIG SHOT!!!
@@Deltexterity theres a backstory that were told by 6 other npcs when you go to the trash zone after you defeat the NEO version (which you can reach via a secret basement anf some other things) of spamton (you can find the dialogue in youtube actually) i must say his backstory is both sad and interesting, definitely digging down more into the lore of the game

The moment this guy popped out of his dumpster I felt an intense paralytic discomfort and just kinda sat there basking in it for a little bit. He absolutely deserved the degree of involvement he got, what an incredible character.
I thought he was a new shopkeep and thought it was a haha funny spam ad gag bit when he mentioned a [[HeartShapedObject]] I knew something was up and now that I know that Spamton Neo Exists it confirms my suspicions

Same, as fantastically written as he is this encounter is just so surreal and hysterical, and how you just continue on like nothing happened after is just perfect

Maybe in Deltarune self awareness grants them "unnatural" abilities no others can?
Btw, gaster isnt even confirmed to be the charachter in the door, so that might not even be canon, for all we know, gaster could be the name of the river person. Its pretty stupid to just see two misterious charachters with no explenation and IMEDDIATELY think they are connected (along withh all of the other theories, like gaster being sans and papyruses dad, HOW THE HELL DO PEKPLE COME UP WITH THAT we dont even know if gaster is male SO HOW COULD HE BE SANSES DAD!) you know nothing about him, and dont even know if he will be mentioned in this game ever! I loved this battle for many reasons but also because kris was alone. I dunno what it is but I like them a lot so being able to play with only them felt really cool.

When you consider his new fight, he was talking to gaster, when you try to call people with your phone you get “garbage noise” and it’s one of gasters themes slowed down. So not only does that mean he was talking to gaster on the phone in his neo fight but also gaster wanted to talk to YOU. evident from his line of it’s for you.

For anyone curious - If you decide to beat him by fighting instead of sparing him, he will complain about you choosing to use violence now when you could have done so earlier, saying he would have offered you a commemorative ring then. This is a clear reference to the Thorn Ring in the Snowgrave route. Also, beating him this way will make it impossible to access the bonus fight against him, because he doesn't set up his shop in the Trash Zone, and you obviously need to be able to talk to him in order to get the key and fight his bonus boss form.
I love how in the battle, he keeps peeping things like “HELP” or “I was only in it for the [freedom]” and yet his NEO form, which is, may I add, his final and most powerful form, has puppet strings attached. He’s never free :[
Even more, if you notice that after the secret bossfight, his last dialogues are written normally, as if he had regained his sanity. It hadn't happened with Jevil either, so it's understandable that Spamton is much more sympathetic to.
@@zadkal8873 Only by a bit. He literally tried to murder a child that helped/tried to help him out and encourages the player to go the Weird Route completely by selling the Thorn Ring. He also was stalking Kris since Kris never introduced themselves throughout all their interactions.
@@VIofCaffeine The dialogues prior to the basement fight strongly suggest that he had little to no control over his actions, though. Namely the points in this fight where he stops his monologue to simply say HELP and the way he shifts in and out of spam mode when talking to him at his home. I think it's pretty clear that we may as well think of the Spamton that asks for help as one deserving of, at the very least, pity, and the rest of him as practically a separate entity entirely, one that puppets the body of the nicer Spamton regardless of his actual will. There's hardly a hint of the inner Spamton on the Weird Route so I'm not really sure we can hold the inner Spamton, the one left after the basement bossfight, responsible for those actions. Poor fella might have just answered the wrong phone call and become a hotbed for malware, removing almost all of his agency.
He made me extremely uncomfortable on my first playthrough but he really grew on me over time. Poor little guy, he just needs someone to give him a chance.
I can't overstate how crazy it was playing this for the first time, like the whole game stops for a second and then you're introduced to this guy and as soon as you see him ou know he's different from everything else you've seen in the chapter and pretty much everything else in the game.
Fun Fact: If you bought the Thorn Ring from him but didn't kill Berdly, and then try to kill Spamton too, he'll comment on the Thorn Ring you bought from him. He also won't let you into his shop.
When u buy the thron ring you are able to get rid of one of Addisons, what happens if you spare berdly with the thron ring and also spare spamton do his request, do all the addisons appear anyway?
A thing I really like about this encounter is how Kris backs away the moment Spamton mentions [Heartshapedobject]. Like even he knew he was in hot water and had to hightail it out of there since whatever Spamton was, he absolutely shouldn't have known of Souls. Kinda funny how Kris was a rather emotionless figure outside of battles up until this point, only to show real fear when something as unhinged as Spamton appears and tell him that he wants his soul. Like even the craziness of Jevil didn't phase him.
Earlier in the game I entered the dog room thinking it was the right way, and the sudden death scene was really weird and creepy. I kept the "room between rooms" grafitti in mind and started looking for another secret place, so when spamtom appeared I thought he was a secret boss, especially because it was all so, so creepy it seemed out of place in the game. But I guess the internet its like that? You will be scrolling casually and the weirdest thing ever appears and youre left puzzled?
Im sure most us can agree that this [unidentified individual is in your living room] is one of the most secretly lore heavy and interesting [i live in your walls] in [undertale]
Fun fact: in the switch version, instead of f1, you have to press in the right analog stick for help (he still says f1 tho, prob kept it in to keep the "computery" vibe)
Because Spamton noticed Kris *after* he emerged from his dumpster and introduced himself, I like to think that he spends most of his time repeatedly popping out of his dumpster and introducing himself to no one.
@@rigboy1234 I meant that Spamton comes off as more… unnerving than Flowey. The very mentally unstable and creepy behaviour, the meeting in the dark alley, the way he talks and acts makes me feel way more uncomfortable than I felt with Flowey.

Spamton on the other is genuinely disturbed and every moment with him you feel like he’s gonna have a total mental breakdown or something similar.
I've rewatched the fight after I first saw it after looking back Spamton says his 1 rated salesman line before a ! Appears and he realizes he's not alone He hits the dumpster that makes Kris walk backwards but the same response happens when he says the [heart shaped object] line right before the fight
I don’t know why, but the stuttery echoed “be a big shot” made me realize how scary a killer robot is. Honestly though, it’s cool that we’re fighting a spame email personified.
Could be nothing, or it could be a hint to his status as a secret boss and his link to Gaster. More likely the latter, as boost characters don’t even have a last name, let alone a middle name. The only few characters in the Undertale and this game that I can think of who have an official first and last name are Asgore, Gaster, Asriel, Gerson, Noelle, Rudolph, Dess, Kris, Chara and Toriel. Ironically, as shady and mysterious as Spamton is, he's the one character whose FULL name we know.

Even more, if you notice that after the secret bossfight, his last dialogues are written normally, as if he had regained his sanity. It hadn't happened with Jevil either, so it's understandable that Spamton is much more sympathetic to.
@@zadkal8873 Only by a bit. He literally tried to murder a child that helped/tried to help him out and encourages the player to go the Weird Route completely by selling the Thorn Ring. He also was stalking Kris since Kris never introduced themselves throughout all their interactions.
@@VIofCaffeine The dialogues prior to the basement fight strongly suggest that he had little to no control over his actions, though. Namely the points in this fight where he stops his monologue to simply say HELP and the way he shifts in and out of spam mode when talking to him at his home.
I think it's pretty clear that we may as well think of the Spamton that asks for help as one deserving of, at the very least, pity, and the rest of him as practically a separate entity entirely, one that puppets the body of the nicer Spamton regardless of his actual will. There's hardly a hint of the inner Spamton on the Weird Route so I'm not really sure we can hold the inner Spamton, the one left after the basement bossfight, responsible for those actions.
Poor fella might have just answered the wrong phone call and become a hotbed for malware, removing almost all of his agency.
He made me extremely uncomfortable on my first playthrough but he really grew on me over time. Poor little guy, he just needs someone to give him a chance.

Fun Fact: If you bought the Thorn Ring from him but didn't kill Berdly, and then try to kill Spamton too, he'll comment on the Thorn Ring you bought from him. He also won't let you into his shop.
When u buy the thron ring you are able to get rid of one of Addisons, what happens if you spare berdly with the thron ring and also spare spamton do his request, do all the addisons appear anyway?
A thing I really like about this encounter is how Kris backs away the moment Spamton mentions [Heartshapedobject]. Like even he knew he was in hot water and had to hightail it out of there since whatever Spamton was, he absolutely shouldn't have known of Souls. Kinda funny how Kris was a rather emotionless figure outside of battles up until this point, only to show real fear when something as unhinged as Spamton appears and tell him that he wants his soul. Like even the craziness of Jevil didn't phase him.

I like to think that his voice changes to the one in his theme when he says something in double brackets.
Earlier in the game I entered the dog room thinking it was the right way, and the sudden death scene was really weird and creepy. I kept the "room between rooms" grafitti in mind and started looking for another secret place, so when spamtom appeared I thought he was a secret boss, especially because it was all so, so creepy it seemed out of place in the game. But I guess the internet its like that? You will be scrolling casually and the weirdest thing ever appears and youre left puzzled?
Spamton NEO is considered a secret boss, just like Jevil in Chp 1.
I think [Hyperlink Blocked] is him saying freedom, but with Queen in control she keeps blocking the word from his vocabulary.

Fun fact: in the switch version, instead of f1, you have to press in the right analog stick for help (he still says f1 tho, prob kept it in to keep the "computery" vibe)
This guy is already unsettling enough but the fact that you fight him alone makes it even more so

There's a line in the other fight where he begs the audience to stop taking his furniture.

I always thought Flowey tried way too hard to be creepy. “Haha you idiot everyone will die ha ha” to point were he just becomes annoying little nuisance.
Spamton on the other is genuinely disturbed and every moment with him you feel like he’s gonna have a total mental breakdown or something similar.
I never noticed how Kris backed up a little when Spamton asked for their SOUL.

I've rewatched the fight after I first saw it after looking back
Spamton says his 1 rated salesman line before a ! Appears and he realizes he's not alone
He hits the dumpster that makes Kris walk backwards but the same response happens when he says the [heart shaped object] line right before the fight
He's a combination of a shady black market dealer, Jigsaw, and a creepypasta

The thing I'm interested in is the "G" in spamtons name
Could be nothing, or it could be a hint to his status as a secret boss and his link to Gaster. More likely the latter, as boost characters don’t even have a last name, let alone a middle name. The only few characters in the Undertale and this game that I can think of who have an official first and last name are Asgore, Gaster, Asriel, Gerson, Noelle, Rudolph, Dess, Kris, Chara and Toriel. Ironically, as shady and mysterious as Spamton is, he's the one character whose FULL name we know.

My brother and I came up with a theory that Gaster made the soul (you) as part of an experiment and it's basically a key to the fountains and Ralsei is actually just one of Gaster's assistants who was sent to guide you.
