@LeFauxGamer on the normal route, spamton neo is very out of the way in the castle, and you need to put in an item rather than him just showing up. you don't need to fight him to finish the game normally :)

Spamton’s the first mega-boss in a game I’ve ever actually beaten, and it was all thanks to Merg. Not for any Spamton videos, but for getting me into the mindset of focussing solely on trying to no-hit attacks as if that was my actual goal. As soon as I started doing that and giving up healing entirely in the fight as if I was ‘just practicing’, it led to me cracking it by being able to do all the multi-wire-snap moves instead of wasting time in a cycle of healing. These videos are so awesome.
I did something similar when fighting Sans but instead of not healing at all I would only heal at the last moment. Same with Jevil, but for Spamton (in the Snowgrave Route) I healed as soon as I was under 80 hp since his damage is so much. In the normal route I was fine doing the same thing (though kris did die like twice)
Spamton NEO actually has a hard mode. There's a bug where you can spam BIG SHOTs, and a patch was recently added where if you use this glitch his head turns red and his attacks are both faster and do more damage. It works in every route I think
It's also very interesting (And intimidating) how just before this battle, Spamton is the only character so far to take an interest in taking Kris' SOUL. Can Darkners even take Human SOULS the way Monsters can?

And also imagine Spamton asking for the Soul and Kris just gives it to him, and Spamton being like 'O shit, now someone else is controlling me.'

EX and NEO are similar enough that I never realised there were two different terms until now, since people usually talk about EX _OR_ NEO, and not both.

Seeing as he was approached by the same person who told jevil it was all just a game, who’s to say spamton isn’t at least somewhat aware of the fact that kris and the player are two separate entities?
I think that's his flashbacks referencing his backstory. For example "Spamton begs the audience to stop taking his furniture out" is probably reference to him being thrown out of the Mansion (because of his sales going down the drain)

During your fight with him (final boss snowgrave), he said something about Kris making his own [Hyperlink Blocked] without him to become a [Big Shot]. Someone in the Deltarune subreddit theorized that [Hyperlink Blocked] was free will/your own choices. It’s clear that he wants freedom, and we don’t know because we’re controlling him(/them), but (following the previously stated theory,) I think Kris wants freedom from the players’ clutches, and that Spamton can see that.

i got back into my undertale and deltarune phase, but i had never actually completed deltarune in its entirety up until a few weeks ago, and i decided to do that as a 90% blind playthrough. I made a new save the other day and fought jevil and spamton, both of these videos helped me so much! I managed to defeat jevil a few tries after looking at your no hit video for him, because i was struggling with the ring around attack. but with spamton, the try right after i watched your video i applied all the tactics i saw and i beat him. merg truly is the true big shot

You know, it's very heartwarming that when you try to free spamton despite him attacking you he actually recognizes it and apologizes for what he did even though it ends up being obstructed by his corrupted speech. He acknowledges the party as his friends because he thanks Kris for helping him all this time.
I just realized something, by Spamton offering to take ”kris” soul and then saying ”do you want to be a heart on a chain for the rest of your life”. Is he trying to free Kris from the player?
I dont think he knows about the whole soul possesion thing. He wants to be free of his strings, it wouldnt make sense for him to allow an entity that could most likely overwrite his will into his body. In his post battle dialogue, he mentions the fun gang also having strings, but he never explicitly singles out Kris there. Another point (SPOILERS FOR SNOWGRAVE): He seems to belive Kris does the snowgrave route to free themself of their strings, and to "drink that hot freedom sauce", when its very clear that the soul is the one in control, and it definitly wouldnt want to remove its own agency.

I'll say, all this time, merg's been avoiding the opponent's big shot, but now he's doing the big shots. He's truly gone a long way. EDIT: And now, he IS a big shot, with almost 869 (nice) thousand subscribers.
Merg, if you haven’t yet, you should definitely do the Snowgrave route! It’s a bit complicated, but I‘m sure you can do it. When Noelle joins your team, freeze every enemy (including backtracking). There are more steps, but I don’t wanna spoil it
My favorite part of this is since the fight goes a lot faster (since no turns are used to heal or revive), it cuts out a lot of redundant dialogue, which means Spamton's "what?! It's for me?" turn is viewed as absolutely vital.
Good to know you can pull this off.... cause you will need it if you want to do the Snowgrave route. Also, there is a way/glitch to actually spam out the big shots without recharging...... and since Toby patched it by adding in a "funny cheat" counter to tell how often you use it, I think it will be there to stay.
it’s my headcanon that he would have never atacked you if he was not still a puppet, he thought that the new body would free him, but the fact he could not escape it drove him to this, and made him snap, he truly felt kris was a friend. But the fact he was still a puppet drove him truly insane.

You know, it's very heartwarming that when you try to free spamton despite him attacking you he actually recognizes it and apologizes for what he did even though it ends up being obstructed by his corrupted speech. He acknowledges the party as his friends because he thanks Kris for helping him all this time.

I just realized something, by Spamton offering to take ”kris” soul and then saying ”do you want to be a heart on a chain for the rest of your life”.
Is he trying to free Kris from the player?
I dont think he knows about the whole soul possesion thing. He wants to be free of his strings, it wouldnt make sense for him to allow an entity that could most likely overwrite his will into his body. In his post battle dialogue, he mentions the fun gang also having strings, but he never explicitly singles out Kris there.
Another point (SPOILERS FOR SNOWGRAVE):
He seems to belive Kris does the snowgrave route to free themself of their strings, and to "drink that hot freedom sauce", when its very clear that the soul is the one in control, and it definitly wouldnt want to remove its own agency.

My favorite No-Hit has to be the Radiant NKG No-Hit for Hollow Knight. Why? Here's the story:

Merg, if you haven’t yet, you should definitely do the Snowgrave route! It’s a bit complicated, but I‘m sure you can do it. When Noelle joins your team, freeze every enemy (including backtracking). There are more steps, but I don’t wanna spoil it

My favorite part of this is since the fight goes a lot faster (since no turns are used to heal or revive), it cuts out a lot of redundant dialogue, which means Spamton's "what?! It's for me?" turn is viewed as absolutely vital.

Also, there is a way/glitch to actually spam out the big shots without recharging...... and since Toby patched it by adding in a "funny cheat" counter to tell how often you use it, I think it will be there to stay.

it’s my headcanon that he would have never atacked you if he was not still a puppet, he thought that the new body would free him, but the fact he could not escape it drove him to this, and made him snap, he truly felt kris was a friend. But the fact he was still a puppet drove him truly insane.
