    Amazing insight to burnout, this is a topic which really needs to be talked about more.
    A message to you and all the resident doctors, keep strong, all this is temporary. Good times will come and you’ll deffo come out stronger IA

    Thank you for being real about the good and the bad. I feel as though most try to scare folks about the challenges that come with being a medical student, boards, and of course residency.

    Off-topic question; In the US, on-call "simple" interventions like nephrostomy, gallbladder drains etc. are they done by residents or by IR seniors?

      Great question, while on diagnostic call you call in senior IR staff from home attending and fellow if you have one. if there is no fellow as is my case, the resident begins basic workup calls the attending. If you have good rapport and are caught up on diagnostic you may be allowed to do assist/do the case and be supervised. although this is not your primary responsibility while on diagnostic call.

    It sounds like you have to have a strong "why" to pursue a residency.

      yea its not for the faint of heart but honestly its taking care of people, you get soo engrossed into it and each day is so varied, even if you believe you may not have a why its easy to just get fully engrossed into it and forget all else, not anyones fault its just the nature of the field, amazing field though
