Oh, they did a dirty one there with Jonathan Reynolds... making it seem like he answered the same question in opposite ways within an hour. In conclusion with the lead-up to the clips, they seem to be trying to paint Reynolds, and probably the Labor Party as a whole, in a light of incompetence.
In fact, the questions Reynolds was aksed were quite different. The first time, he was asked wether the British Government should be preparing plans to ration oil and gas (i.e. in case the situation gets worse), to which he agreed. The second time, the question was "Should we be rationing our energy?" (as in, "right now"), to which he disagreed, adding "it would be a disaster" (in the current situation)

That idea about Tyrannosaurus arms is utterly unconvincing to me.
Why would tiny useless arms be an evolutionary advantage over normal sized arms that have a slight chance of being bitten off?
I believe their arms evolved to be used for picking their teeth. They have unusual two-digit claws that would be no good for grasping, but would be ideal toothpicks for keeping bits of meat from sticking in their teeth and causing decay. After all, a T-rex is basically a mouth on legs, so dental hygiene would be a priority. A T-rex with no teeth is doomed.

    • @alexandermackie7621

We all have long arms but can pick our own teeth.

    • @drewlovelyhell4892

@@davebox588 Yes, but our arms are not specialised for one task. I think the T-Rex's arms started to become vestigial because they were not used for fighting or locomotion, but stayed extant because of their utility as toothpicks. I've heard theories about them using their arms to help them to stand up from a 'prone' position, but their arms are of similar size and strength to human arms. Not very useful to support a creature that weighs several tons. I'd say using their tail as a counterweight would make more sense.
