So much anticipation of this game with Kocur back and the previous game against Chicago. Kozlov's stick lift and backhand at 5:27 was a thing of beauty. One of the best ties you'll ever see.
This was NHL in its best. Still the best tough guys (Probert, Kocur, Twist, Grimson, McSorley, etc) and the stars were reall stars. Thanks for the upload, brings back so many memories.
Was able to watch most of these games. The hay-days of hockey. But I had forgotten how quick Vernon was to get his stick up on opposing players. Late in the 3rd, Amonte gets a break down the side, shoots, and gets greeted by Vernon as he skates in front of the net. Stevie still incredible in his 13th season. And 3 milestones in one game. Hats off to you once again awood. Great stuff to enjoy whilst we wait for another Red Wings win IRT.
What's more terrifying? Being a linesman and having to jump on top of kocur and Probert or being a Chicago player and getting pinned against the glass and pounded by kocur?
I live on the street where Cam Russel grew up (in Cole Harbour NS btw). I used to be his parents paperboy. So proud of the kid - first local to make the NHL ! They have a glass showcase for some of his memorabilia in the local rink. But boy - did he eat a lot of leather in his career. It got to the point where I couldn't watch. Wendall Clark just wailed on him relentlessly. Never be accused of not standing up for his teammates.
These games are still better then todays, even knowing the outcome already. Some of these games it feels like the Hall of Fame decided to organize a pickup game with it's inductees.
@@leonidas7281 - What he's saying is true. The story was told by Kocur himself. He was out of hockey. He wanted to play some more. So he had Probert rough up the Wings in a previous game. That's the game Shanahan fought Probert. After that game, the Wings brought back Kocur. I'm not sure where you're from, but in the Detroit area that's fairly common knowledge. Kocur told the story in his own words. Then ya see comments like the one above mentioning it every now and then.
@dannyd8625 originally from Flint. Life long wings fan. I'm 49 years old. I don't remember hearing those stories but I'll take your word for it. I guess all I was trying to say was Kocur was a more dangerous fighter than Bob. I met both of them when I was a teenager in training camp. Really miss those days..the hockey was so much better than now.
@dannyd8625 funny thing is, I told my dad and brother that the wings would bring back Joey for that first cup run when he was playing beer league. They thought I was crazy. I used to be kind of a sports psychic..🤣 I even told them what song would play when they won the cup. Oh what a night
Always great to hear Gary Throne and Bill Clement on the call.
two of the best to ever do it. The Bruise Brothers. Btw, these games are a thousand times more intense and hard fought than ANY GAME in today's era.
The goal Fedorov scored at 8:10 is identical to his last NHL goal with the Caps on Lundquist.
Eerily similar.
Wow
Literally the exact same goal. Holy shit.
Ed Belfour's last home game as a Blackhawk in Chicago (played 2 more road games before the trade to San Jose)

Back when you earned every goal and point. Miss this Era of hockey.
I'm amazed how aggressive Vernon was. Almost in the faceoff circle for some of these saves!
God I miss this energy in the games
7:15 one of the best Draper goals you will ever see
He got in all alone often enough, just had a hard time finishing. Great player.
@@robjohnson5872 The icing on the cake for me was that it was on Ed Belfour.
He hits so hard that he hurts You and Him...

Getting pinned and pounded by Kocur. Hands of steel as Probert has said
Probert fought Kocur as a favor , Kocur told the story .

He was on the wrong end of some beatings but he was game as fuck and like you say never shy about getting involved...

Probie helping Joey to keep his job with the Wings!
Kocur handled Bob. And his name is on the Cup. He scored a goal in the finals. Not sure what you are on about.

[octopus is thrown on ice]
Gary Thorne: A little early for that, isn't it?
Not this year, Gary.
Interesting seeing the board advertising and which companies are still around.
19:03 it's the 90s I get it but holy shit lol
Could catch moby dick with that hook
Joey Probie Domi + Razor Ray
The 4 thuffesed fighting machines ever
😅😊
marty's goal @ 14:00 requested the away horn... LOL
Hockey was SO awesome then...
Kocur took it easy on Bob.
16:11
Vernon barely tapped him. So lame.
I give kocur the decision on this ones
Back when there were 2 pts to hand out per game.
Вот это был хоккей,какая силовая борьба,какие тавгаи...Сегодняшние додики и одного периода не выдержали бы...
I hates ties.
I never wore them. To tight around the neck.
Belfour blows
👏 "promo sm"
Kocur was a god in this game and owned probert
Also ties suck in any sport
