You actually see the end of his run in the Flash TV Series, Crisis on Infinite Earths. Mr. Routh reclaims the mantle of Superman briefly for that story and concludes it. Hint: it doesn't end well.
Bryan Singer and every Superman movie director since has gotten it wrong. Superman is not dark or angsty, mopey or angry, and he wouldn’t snap a criminal’s neck. He is about hope and optimism, truth and justice. Towards the end of Justice League, he started acting more like what he’s supposed to be.

Yes, I was. I do remember the Superman serials in the movies on Saturdays. I never forgot Kirk Alyn as Superman. Unlike George Reeves, Kirk Alyn was a body builder. That was his real physique. George Reeves, the 1st TV Superman, had a padded suit. Brandon Routh was also a body builder.
One thing I noticed is that in a lot of these scenes, Superman does something grand or spectacular to demonstrate his powers. (Bend a steel car bumper,Catch a safe, catch a helicopter, catch a falling plane, walk through fire) but all Cavill!Superman has to do is snap off his handcuffs and everyone gets the hint and backs up. I also love that Lois is always the one to give him the name, Superman.
I really like Cavil as an actor but his Superman just isn't "Superman " , not his fault just the material he has been given isn't that great. He looks great in the suit and if given the chance I think Cavil would rock the Role.
Superman- the movie 1978 was perfection. I can recall sitting in the theater through half the movie chomping at the bit to see him do his first amazing movie quality feat and the pay off wasn't disappointing. The whole theater cheered when he pulled open his shirt.
It was the way that Superman and Lois met in the Man of Steel miniseries that John Byrne did in 1986, during the reboot of the DC universe. It doesn’t work quite as well as a return, but is still a great opener.
I agree it’s also a tie between Erica Durance and Teri Hatcher. Though there’s others like the original movie Lois in Margot Kidder but, definitely I think the television series versions were better because more time was spent on their character development and you actually got to see the growth of their characters throughout the series of Smallville and Lois and Clark The New Adventures of Superman.

I always thought Dean Cain did a good job. Most forget it was a weekly series, so it didn't have feature movie big studio budget or time. Everything happened in a 45 minute window so it could air each week. And some of the hokeyness with simply '80s hokeyness that was in everything. Airwolf has the silly supersonic speed film motion. The earlier A-Team had the "shoot 10,000 rounds and no one gets hit" stories. And somewhere in this time, the comics changed the storyline again.
Superman the Movie had the best meeting of Superman and Lois. I enjoyed the Adventures of Lois and Clark because it took a different approach, focus was less on Superman and Lois and more on Clark and Lois. Brandon Routh made an incredible Superman, a worthy successor to Christopher Reeve. His movie should have been a complete reboot, maybe even skipping the whole origin aspect and just jump into a story where Superman is already a hero on Earth.
Do you think casting directors also had to consider the voice of the actor playing Superman as well? It needs to be commanding but comforting at the same time. Most of the actors here got it right.
His Clark Kent was the worse. He played Clark like an idiot. Clark was a "mild-mannered reporter" not a bumbling, clumsy bumpkin. Remember, he was a genetically advanced being from another world. He wasn't really just a Kansas farm boy who had never been off the farm. At this time, the Superboy storyline still existed in the comics, so there had been the relationship with Lana, friendship with Pete, struggles of hiding who he was, and working the farm. He wasn't a dummy or social misfit. I think George Reeves set the standard for Clark, acting normal and a bit timid at times when needed, by always letting the audience know with a wink it was an act. He also was a take charge guy, telling Lois to do things frequently and clearly on equal footing with Inspector Henderson. With Christopher Reeve, it seem Clark really was a bumbling social misfit. Routh played Clark that way, but not nearly as bad. Cain played Clark well aware of everything who brought the act up when he needed around those that suspected him. I think he matched Reeves more. Cavill was a very different Superman and story. Hoechlin plays a much more mature version, as he is married and has kids. His Clark lead-in story also has Clark and Superman more mature and less excitable. Surprising since he is 35 and playing what should be an early 40s to mid 40s Clark Kent, which was the age of George Reeves when he was playing what should have been a 30 year old Clark. Chris Reeves can be forgiven some as he was only 26. Cain was 27 and had 11 credits under his belt.

Interesting.........Dean is my favorite Clark,..........Chris my favorite Superman..........Erica my favorite Lois😍.............whose you favorite Supergirl?
I've watched all the superman characters. Reeves, Cain, Routh, Cavil. My personal fave is Routh, too bad he was cut short. And My favorite Clark is none other than Smallvile's Tom Welling.
George Reeves was the best for me. I liked that he was the most fatherly and adult-like. He also had the best flying music, the best take off's and landings with the best sound effects for them.
It's hard to take one winner as all of them come from a different era so what matters primarily is the context behind the meet. Although what I love about the 2021 show is that in the flashbacks they really pay homage to that old school superman era without making it feel out of place and that is indeed a big win.
Man superman returns could've been so amazing as a soft modern reboot/ follow up to the superman series, if only the plot and character of superman is a bit better written. Brandon Routh could've been the modern superman instead of Henry Cavill (even though I fucking love man of steel), it's a shame we didn't see more superman stuff from him
Sorry, I know all y’all will disagree but Brandon Routh was awesome as Superman. I so wish he would have been given a second chance with a different director.
When I was 7, my dad put me in front of the TV, and put the giant cassette of Superman (1978) and made me watch the whole movie. Since then, I've got hooked on watching Superman
That plane rescue from Returns is still the greatest single sequence in the modern Superman films. That is exactly what people want to see - Superman saving people. Not brooding and flying off. Then getting into a brawl then brooding then flying off. Then brooding alone. Then brooding with Lois then flying off. Then hovering over people who need saving while brooding. Cavill is great but I absolutely hate Snyder's interpretation of Superman.
That's why Tyler Hoechlin is so great. In costume he's got the same nobility, presence, optimism, even innocence, in a way, that Reeve and Routh had. Close, though, as a father, he's a good mix, but is heir to the same frustrations, confusions, uncertainties, and so on every man and father must deal with.
@@MrBrachiatingApe Hoechlin is alright, but throughout Superman & Lois his suit muscle padding seems disproportionate, and he often seems to have a bewildered look on his face. His Clark and Superman don't really seem like different persons either...

Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder forever. Rest in peace to you both ❤️ Wait....who are you? A friend! ☺️ Only second to the very underrated Dean Caine and Teri Hatcher 🥰 great sexual chemistry.
The Christopher Reeve scene is pure Richard Donner. When he was first hired by the Salkinds to direct, Donner said the screenplay was atrocious. It was just parody on top of parody on top of parody (essentially what Superman 3 & 4 would be). He famously responded with, "This is not the Superman I grew up with.." He knew the material deserved to be treated with great respect, and that introduction scene is the result. An incredibly slow build leading to an amazing reveal, all accompanied by John Williams' legendary score! I never get tired watching it..

@@tommissouri4871 Tom Welling and Erica Durance are the "TRUE" successors to Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder as Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Tom's portrayal of Clark during the earlier years in Smallville and heading to Metropolis show his as the Realistic person, when he dons the glasses, that's the Believable person, that what packed about Christopher Reeve's Clark, he was Believable, not Realistic. Henry Cavill's Clark was Realistic, but also had more room to improve. Tyler Hoechlin's Clark is more of a continuation of Tom Welling's Clark, that's how I see it.
I really don't get the hype. I don't see any chemistry at all. I could never shake the feeling that Margot's Lois was gay and would be better off with a woman 🤷🏼♀️
You forgot the Smallville finale where Lois sees Clark as Superman in the window.
That’s not really “meeting” Superman.
@@TJUC123 There could technically be two meetings of Lois and Superman in Smallville. There’s the time she pulls the blue kryptonite knife out of him and then hides or when she sees him in his costume for the first time from Air Force One.
SMALLVILLE never was my thing. Shure the actors were looked all damn goo in it but it was SOAP OPERA in the rinest form not my thing.
@@rogerlynch5279 I can’t take your comment seriously when you talk like a 2 year old and spell like you’ve never seen the words before.
@@rogerlynch5279 you are tripping.. Smallville was amazing! Definitely my favorite
4:15 THE SCENE WITH THE HELICOPTER was from a famous Superman Comic I even had myself in the German edition. They pepped it up with the Telephon booth since in the days of filming there were no real booth anymore around, hilariious ! You have to love the clip for this even if your were not in the Superman-mood like me.
9:28 Tracy Scoggins, she mostly had been casted as the somewhat dumb but streetwise Sex Bomb. Just in BABYLON 5 she got a better role as the last Commander on board. Loved her performance, showed she was able to much more.
Think you could've squeezed the most recent tv Lois meeting Brandon's Superman in this.
Christopher Reeves is my favorite Superman but Teri Hatcher is my favorite Lois Lane.
Interesting.........Dean is my favorite Clark,..........Chris my favorite Superman..........Erica my favorite Lois😍.............whose you favorite Supergirl?
Never knew there was a TH-cam channel dedicated to Superman.
Sorry... but the best one was the 1978 Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder. Dramatic, heartfelt and non condescending camp.
I've watched all the superman characters. Reeves, Cain, Routh, Cavil. My personal fave is Routh, too bad he was cut short. And My favorite Clark is none other than Smallvile's Tom Welling.
I still believe Christopher Reeve played the best Superman.
George Reeves was the best for me. I liked that he was the most fatherly and adult-like. He also had the best flying music, the best take off's and landings with the best sound effects for them.
Tyler and Bitsy for the win.
It's hard to take one winner as all of them come from a different era so what matters primarily is the context behind the meet. Although what I love about the 2021 show is that in the flashbacks they really pay homage to that old school superman era without making it feel out of place and that is indeed a big win.
@@JudgeFudge57 The story and the characters evolve.
Christopher reeve is still unbeatable
Brandon did a good job reprising that role........,but Chris is still the Superman I knew as a boy. 👍

The first movies made me laugh so hard, time really moves fast ( you got me ?,whose got you😁😁)
Great, AND as a side effect it shows the change in the image of the desireable woman in films
Man superman returns could've been so amazing as a soft modern reboot/ follow up to the superman series, if only the plot and character of superman is a bit better written. Brandon Routh could've been the modern superman instead of Henry Cavill (even though I fucking love man of steel), it's a shame we didn't see more superman stuff from him
Lois did not meet Superman in Superman Returns, she already knew him.
Yes as its the same Superman played by Christopher Reeve and it's supposed to follow on from Superman II.
You probably already figured - but it's just different iterations of the characters.
Ahhh my god i just love them all. All are precious supermen
Sorry, I know all y’all will disagree but Brandon Routh was awesome as Superman. I so wish he would have been given a second chance with a different director.
Спасибо за это видео автор!
Technically there’s 2 meeting of superman and Lois in smallville.
First was “the blur” and the last one was in the series finale as “Superman”
When I was 7, my dad put me in front of the TV, and put the giant cassette of Superman (1978) and made me watch the whole movie.
Since then, I've got hooked on watching Superman
Christopher Reeve and Brandon Rough is my fav Superman. They deserve to become Superman.....😊😊😊
Thank You for sharing these wonderful moments.
Yes! I love seeing everybody cheer afterwards!
I know people be overusing this word nowadays but ugh, Brandon Routh’s plane scene is ICONIC. I get chills every single time. Say what you want about the movie but he did an amazing job!
Routh looked amazing as superman!
All the guys that played Superman did a good job , but HC to me has done the best job , he looks like what Superman should look like .
Very good to watch a special person doing good and saving people's life.
I like how the marshan man hunter is the only one who doesn’t step back, further making us believe he’s an alien
Everybody talking about Reeves and Cavill. But Tom Welling is nailed it for me.
wow small vile really created the arrow vers
Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder forever. Rest in peace to you both ❤️
Wait....who are you?
A friend!
☺️
Only second to the very underrated Dean Caine and Teri Hatcher 🥰 great sexual chemistry.
Man, Superman missed an opportunity to go Robert Deniro when he ate the bomb.
THATS A SPICY MEATBALL!!!
Real smoooooth...
Now we really need a superboy prime storyline adapted. I'm willing to accept animation, so long as we get Him
That Superboy clip - rescuing Lana and landing on the 'beach' - that's the Polynesian Village and Grand Floridian hotels at Walt Disney World!
Henry Cavill is the best Superman ❤️
❤ i love the show
Pretty clever and impressive how they actually used animation at the time rather than being to practical in 1948
The Christopher Reeve scene is pure Richard Donner. When he was first hired by the Salkinds to direct, Donner said the screenplay was atrocious. It was just parody on top of parody on top of parody (essentially what Superman 3 & 4 would be). He famously responded with, "This is not the Superman I grew up with.."
He knew the material deserved to be treated with great respect, and that introduction scene is the result. An incredibly slow build leading to an amazing reveal, all accompanied by John Williams' legendary score! I never get tired watching it..
Thanks for putting this all together 👍🏻
It blew my mind to realize that Dean Cain played a super when I only knew him from supergirl as Jeremiah Danvers :O
I think Henry and Tyler are the best ones
Tom, Dean, Brandon, and Chris.......,in that order.
Superman: “I’m just a man who lives in a cardboard world.” 😎
My Favorite Movie is Superman 1978
Cast Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/ Superman and Margot Kidder as Lois Lane
Music by John Williams Theme Song Superman
What wonderful video that was and also very enjoyable.
Chris Reeves and Magot Kidder will always be the best. My second favorite is Dean Cain and Terry Hatcher.
The evolution of two people who love ohter even today
SUPERBOY!!! Lana was sooo hot on that show!!❤😂
Jon: Dad, how you and Mom met?
Clark: Well, you see…
Superman is not just dc’s , he is all comic lovers’.
husband speaking age 80 This was such a memory jog, I have followed Superman from the radio programs in the
50's, the 15 min. tv shorts, to the major pictures. We sure need a hero to take our minds off the lousy leadership the
U.S. has today.
Random though ...................Crazy how of all the Superman costumes the kirk Alyn one came the closest to getting the cape collar connection right
I hate Amy Adams version of Lois. She is the worst. “Well, here it’s just an ‘S’.“ So disrespectful, especially after he specifically states it stands for hope. Then she just dismisses it, and then dumps on it. Brandon Routhe was the next best Superman to Reeves.
Lane Smith’s Perry White was my favorite (ps General Swannick is awesome)
Especially since LANE SMITH usually had been typ casted as the weak bad guy without a spin. as in V- the Visitors ( 1984 ), as the colaborating mayor in RED FLOOD and so on.
Superman RETURNS #1
Hard to believe that first clip is over 73 years ago!
"TJ, up here TJ."
I can't stop laughing.
