I remember joining a discord server my friends showed me, in their "roles" section it said "Pick your mental illness" if I wanted to be part of the padded room squad I'd go to an asylum.
Favorite episode so far, the copyright discussion really reminds me of the old show. With you too being on total opposites but still being entertaining. Nice bourbon trail tshit Dick btw.
1:30:39 Vito destroys his own defense of copyright laws by accident, in two sentences with sound logic: -The original product will sell better if the "ip" can be disseminated by other creators/publishers doing their own spin on it; -The more alternatives you have of an "ip", more chances you have of having a good version of it (let's say, like a good batman between a 100 shitty ones)
Everybody saying that Vito said TBF doesn't realize that last episode they decided that tube of hair is not the same thing as to be fair. They even got a reverse sound bite for those instances.
Shakespeare is much better when we can make parody versions... have you ever seen the film Scotland, PA with Christopher Walken?? Best version of MacBeth ever created. Also, Dick's argument about the numerous writers/artists that make various Batman books is 100% on point!
Dick Masterson was dead on with liberals saying "Let's Be Clear". Ever since he brought it up a few episodes ago I've really noticed Vito saying it constantly on Vito 2.
Dick's definitely onto something with the copyright issue. Disney is basically becoming a slumlord of properties where they release shitty remakes in perpetuity in order to maintain a consistent profit and rip to shreds anyone else trying to make a buck off the idea of someone who is long dead, but I don't think the answer is to abolish it. I think copyright should be life of the creator, and that's it. That way, even if the creator sells his IP, the company can't just sit on the work for a hundred years choking creativity. Corporations just owning works does not benefit people, it benefits a monolith of power that usually gets captured and used by the shittiest people in our society to churn out a calcuable amount of money for the least amount of effort possible.
I would enjoy that. I can already see evil corporations setting up giant human farms where they keep their right holders' bodies functioning for eternity.
Dick is right. IP is just rent seeking by huge companies that reduces content and creativity. Small creators can make a name for themselves with popular content and then strike off with their own original projects. Art always borrows and synthesizes. Patents are a little different have have some good use cases.
I don't feel like copyright matters so much anymore. The best art will come to the surface. We're kinda seeing something like this in the world of NFTs, where there's tons of copycats for every NFT project, but there's no clout in owning a copycat. Unless of course, the copycat is better in some way. So it kinda breeds innovation. Besides, if someone used my art in something, it would reach more eyes, and more people might try to find me. And if someone tried to pretend like it was their own original piece of art, their fans would probably eat them alive once they're inevitably caught.
Something that can be infinitely duplicated without the owner losing access to it cannot reasonably be called "property." Also, imagine how much shittier the platform you're posting these videos to would be without open source software lol.
Any fan of the Dragonlance Series can tell you bad it is when you allow every Tom, Dick, and Sally out there to tell a "story" using other peoples settings, with their characters, and just publish it all alongside each other, trash fan fiction and actual stories written by the authors, is really does detract from the actual characters.
Gotta disagree about folks who are proudly autistic, since autism isn't purely negative. Autistic folks tend to suck at social stuff, but they're better at complex logical thinking. ADHD is also a double edged sword.
Seen an austic 15 y/o? blatantly abusing his sister at the playground. Couldn't intervene for reeesons. However someone called the 👮 by time I left. However the family said he is special. We wont be going back
I have a family member who is autistic. He is 23, can barely put on his shoes without freaking out, and spends the entire time at family events running in circles with his arms out like an airplane. He will be stuck with his parents until they die. It is not a double edged sword and people like you need to stop romanticizing it.
Tube of hair - that drop was so clever Dick missed it TWICE.
Damn
They decided last episode that it doesn't count.

I'd like to see vito defend pharma companies owning the IP for for drugs. It's one of the big reasons drug prices are so bad in America.
I'm never apologizing to Vito again lol

3d rides was always just trying to convince people it's good in an attempt to save money like always.
Every defense Vito gave for IP makes it sound way worse than anything Dick could have said
I agree about Captain Eo. It's still the best 3D-movie I ever saw.
