    Goodwill has an amazing selection of baby blankets, some looked brand new. It’s for a dog, it doesn’t care

    You could also sew three sides if you have a machine and use you great tying idea for the opening side for washing etc. thanks!

  • @DIYwithTanya
    @DIYwithTanya  9 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    @freeangie11 You can spot clean the bed or you could untie one of the ends, remove the pillows and handwash the bed. If your ties are double knotted you could also untie one end and stick in the wash on gentle and just replace the pillows when the bed dries. I recommend air drying so that the bed doesn't shrink in the dryer. Hope these suggestions help!

      thanks for the awesome dog bed idea. I have 2 rough collies male and female and they love being together. I wanted to get them a dog bed for christmas but there wasnt one big enough for the both of them to lay together. Because they both love to spread out taking up tons of room so i just layed a blanket on the floor for them but i wanted something more comfortable so im definetly gonna make this for my puppies:D have a great day:D

    Awesome idea!!! Here is an idea I put together in my mind after seeing your video and someone else's..use eggshell crate material as the cushioning instead of pillows, and instead of cutting the material in fringes (and having to tie it off) all the way around, simply use fabric glue to glue together 2 sides of it, and leave only ONE side free to cut and tie...makes it less time consuming to create and less time consuming to remove for washing!!! But, I wouldnt have had my idea without seeing yours first, so thank u!!

      @juliannawatson7279 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is a great idea. A dog might not tear/rip up this bed, because it will smell like you.
    You could also use a long piece of quilt batting to cover the tops of the pillows so that the animal doesn't lay directly on the seams.

    • @DIYwithTanya
      @DIYwithTanya  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cindy. I would spot clean small messes. For a deep clean untie one end, remove the pillows and then re-tie shut. Make sure the knots are tight or they can come undone. Gentle wash and air dry so that the material doesnt shrink. Hope this helps.

    Very nice! The ties are very pretty but it looks like a lot of work. I am just going to buy a 10 dollar fleece blanket that matches my living room and sew it. I'll stuff it with the sleeping bag my dog is already sleeping on. Just getting ideas.The dog beds are so expensive. A 40 dollar one falls apart. A good one costs 100 bucks or more.

      They are all washable. I would double knot all of the knots around the bed or they will come undone in the washer. Thank you for fostering!!

    I have a question, could you just throw the whole bed in the washing machine or should you take it apart before washing it?

    • @DIYwithTanya
      @DIYwithTanya  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could but it may unravel in the washer/dryer.

    I think it would be easier to use memory foam, just buy them extra large if need be (such as a queen) buy a few of them and then cut and layer for added fluff. Anytime I take the cover off of the $80 + dog beds I buy for my dogs so that I can wash them, I find it was simply a piece of memory foam with a cover. Nothing more. What's worse is it is only one layer of memory foam. You could do more if you wanted.

      Lori Knoell Great suggestion!

      If we did the memory foam, we could cut a slit in the bottom of the cover and then put velcro there to close it back up, so we could take the cover off when we want to wash it because I'm not sure memory foam can be washed.

    you could fold to fabric together and cut them both at once.

    Hey Tanya.. I'm gonna save some money due to this .. Thanks but I got a query. My Dalmatian sheds all round the year.. A flee would be tough to clean.. Any suggestion on alternative material I can use?

      Maybe just a soft cotton would work. You can find this at a local craft store.

    Hi Tanya ! my dog Riley needs new bed soon but the problem is she gets mud and hair all over her dog bed so i have to by her a new bed every month any tips ?

    • @DIYwithTanya
      @DIYwithTanya  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +XxbetadayyXx If you are good with sewing you can create a rectangular bed with pillow inserts. You would sew shut 3 sides of the bed and make one side with a zipper so you can remove the pillows and stick the outer part into the washer.
