I'm renovating part of my garage into a family run kennel. I was going to look into buying these, but my family and I love a good diy. Thanks for the well detailed video.
Thank you, I am going to make this, on the weekend. My bad dog just chewed up her soft fabric foam bed! So I will make her this bed. The only change I plan to do is put some sort of wood or possibly cut up some thick plastic board for the 4 to edges (i will screw them into the pipe) of the canvas corners to protect the fabric from her chewing on the open corners. My bad do would find the open triangle corners as an attractive chew spot!
I have a 105 lb bully/lab I am going to make one for but am going to see a casing and double the fabric and put some stuffing in cause she is 11 and her hips hurt her
Wouldn't grommets with rope, lacing it have been better for support, and overall durability for the fabric? Would even make it tighten if fabric stretches over time. I doubt it would have increased cost by that much.
I’ve made a number of these beds myself and considered trying to sell them, but once I figured the costs, I appreciated that for a little more, people could buy a Kuranda, a bed that is more attractive, very strong, should last for almost ever and does not have an opening at the corners which are potential leg breakers.
It's been over a year and half since I made this video and that bed is still holding up and getting used regularly. So, I guess I have to disagree with you on that.

You had me at hello!!!❤ ...Well, at NO sewing 😅....thanks, this is cool
Thank you for making these. I've been wanting one for my dog's but wouldn't pay the price the retailers are wanting.
I can't imagine that fabric holding up very long with screws and the weight of a dog.
But now you need to make a canopy version!
I feel inspired!😂
6 months later the fabric is holding strong. So far so good, anyway.
I like it!! Being handy with a sewing machine I plan on making casings instead of using screws. I should mention I have a 5lb yorkie.
Very well made
Very good idea! I have a deer begle that has eaten every toy every bed. Thank you
This was really helpful and easy to follow. Thank you!
Thanks for the idea!!

How long did you cut the pipes? What was your overall cost?
What was your total cost vs. Amazon bed? Wink, wink, are you getting a new rescue?

Sounds like a good option to try

Does this mean what I think it may mean, Great Lakes? Will you soon be getting another dog? 😃😃
Ha, not quite yet. This one actually went to a friend's dog. That subject is on my mind frequently though!
@@GreatLakesPrepping I can understand that. When the time is right.
What sizes are the pipe?
1 1/4 inch
@@GreatLakesPrepping Sorry how long did you cut the pipe ?
I don’t think he mentions how much it cost to build?
What brand of power tools and screws to buy. Thank you.
Hi Mary. The brand of power screwdriver doesn't matter. As for the screws, I included a link in the video description.
Your dog didnt test it? 😢😢
Sadly, I no longer had a dog at the time of finishing this video. So I gave the bed to a friend for her dog.
this is grat but ill fall apart within weeks with only screws.
