MAAAN the Stalker was my first big game to play through as a child, I've spent so much time exploring the map and gunning down everything that moved, collecting rare loot and inventing new ways to steal it, this game became a one hell of a memory to me despite all of its flaws. I'm actually buffled to see it being talked about by someone from non-russian speaking country, and not just someone, MY FAVOURITE COMMENTARY TH-camR. Genuinely brings a tear of joy to my eyes

@ryba_byba Stalker has always had a strong western following, there was huge hype for the then upcoming Stalker2,but then the real world affected the game studio, leaving the future of the game unclear. Recently Xbox has added the initial stalker games in the store, building the hype for the upcoming stalker 2 release.
On a similar level, Tarkov is big here,and the 1+2 of Metro 2033/ last light represented the tone of the first novel perfectly, when great writing and game design collide.

From Australia and have played it since 2008. One of my favourite game franchises. Hell, I still have my original disc copy of SoC. Was unaware of CS or CoP until I was older and browsed through steam out of curiosity. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. still to this day has a wide reach to western audiences and I'm glad it has done as well as it did despite numerous issues in development.

So on the point of the radioactive piles of trash in The Garbage:
That's a very real thing, most famously the firefighter's gear that's still dangerously radioactive in the basement of the hospital they were treated at, or the vehicle graveyards of all of the trucks, ambulances, firetrucks, and military vehicles and helicopters that were just left neatly organized to rust and decay overtime. A LOT of it is still dangerously radioactive and likely will be for the remainder of our lives.
It's actually where a lot of the real-life Stalkers end up getting their own "artifacts." No joke, there's several hundred people a year who enter the actual exclusion zone every year who try to make off with small trinkets like keys, lugnuts, all sorts of stuff, as souvenirs of their trip, which is illegal. Mostly tourists who go on a tour of the zone and think it's safe to make off with whatever they find only to find out it's tripping off Geiger counters on their way out. Obviously less of a concern today because of the war which had made... other dangers... but yeah, a real concern the Ukrainian authorities have been dealing with for decades is actual stalkers taking actual artifacts out of the actual zone.

Actual most Real Stalkers Don't take shit from the exclusion zone that's just the tourists who go around touching everything like it's not a radioactive zone, meanwhile the actual stalkers are try to keep things safe

I could be mistaken, but I believe the reason why people want the bodies of stalkers is to study the mutations they get from spending time in The Zone and around the artifacts. I haven't played the games. I do recall this being the case in "A Roadside Picnic".

@@Tacdelio I can recommend the author Dmitry Glukhovsky. He wrote the Metro books, which are my favourite. But Sumerki or Text (Although this one was very discomforting to read) are pretty good aswell.

Fun fact: The X18 flying objects are not an anomaly but are done by the Poltergeists in the area. If you shoot all of them (electrical flying things), you can stop it from happening. Also the test subjects in the tubes seems to be early versions of poltergeists.

PLEASE make a video about the metro series (book and game trilogy) its very similiar to stalker, but id say the lore is darker, and it has a unique concept of people surviving the nuclear apocalypse

Funny thing about the escort missions in SoC is that Kruglov is a legitimate badass. You just have to arm him with a proper rifle via trade, such as one of the many guns carried by the Mercs, and he can solo half the squads headed his way.

@@MrSnake9419 Most of the time it ends up happening by itself as he walks by a dead merc and picks up his gun. Of course you can speed up and insure the process by just opening up his trade window and giving him a rifle.
Same with the duty prisoner in the bandit base. Throw a gun at his feet & he'll pick it up as he walks over it you have to give him a bit of ammo too I think? Cool feature of the game.

There is this weird niche of video game commentary channels that make really good, long form content. This is the best version of it and I love this channel. I fall asleep to these or SummoningSalt, JoshStrifeHayes and others like this.

Stalker is one of my all time favourite franchises. I have played it countless times on varied difficulties and I still not only have fun but find new things every playthrough.
Paired with mod support, fan projects, and a funny community, the series is one of the BEST franchises I've every been lucky enough to experience.
ps. saving doesn't make you a loser, its outright needed. before and after every encounter lest you die or the game crashes on you.

I can't remember where i read this but i remember reading a news article after the war in Ukraine started when Russia invaded, and the Russian army did took over the area around Chernobyl. But apparently they took absolutely no precautions with the radiation, and basically wasted significant resources on repairing vehicles and broken equipment, as well as medical supplies on sick soldiers. I guess no one in those units played Stalker.
Anyway great video! Stalker is one of my favorite games despite the fact i could never beat it! More people need to play it!
This is not accurate information. Im a nuclear engineer who had to help review data from these places, its been fine. Basically all reactor plants are self sufficient and incapable of catastrophically failing like it did on the rbmk1000 reactors could in the 80s.

even more - they dug trenches to hide in the Red Forest, which is the most radioactive shit ever - the soil still retains all the radiation, making the trees glow in the dark. the russians even slept in those holes, tactically hiding from jets and drones, but permanently infected themselves with radiation....

My instincts instantly kicked in at 18:54 and I thought "Bloodsucker" just from hearing him screaming for a split second, almost in a PTSD way. You can take a stalker out of the Zone, but never the Zone out of a stalker.
Same, my grandpops got me into stalker and he warned that there will be a loud enemy that I HAVE to watch out for. And even before I've seen it, I heard it and I was promptly terrified. It's one thing to encounter something scary on your own and another to hear about it as a warning from someone so much more experienced and have that nagging in the back of your mind until you suddenly see why it is described in such a way.

My dad got this game during his stay in Russia when I was a kid and unfortunately it didn’t have english dub so when we played it it was such a raw experience..game is tons of fun and full of secrets and things like that. Stalker Call of Pripyat is also banger and honestly haunting experience since they made ingame Pripyat VERY authentic to real city with the big Wheel, abandoned buildings full of radiation and the reactor itself. I definitely recommend picking it up if you are into those types of games ✌🏻

i think i played stalker 3 times. to be honest i never really understood what it was about at the end and what the 6 endings meant exactly, until this point.

Amazing video, coming from a big giant stalker fan and also investing most of my time into the game and into its modding fan base, this is awesome and great! I love stalker and I have been into it for many years and I am so glad you got to come around to it! The new console release for the trio game will definitely bring in some new gamers and enjoyers! The Zone has claimed immense hours of my life and last year I gave it up and promised I'd wait till Stalker 2 comes out. But I'm starting to get that itch again. The Zone is calling.

Helpful Tip For Fellow STALKER's. Always, always, always repeat the Bloodsucker's side quest at the bar to get enough Battery artifacts(+30% to shock resist minus endurance) to repair your best armor in electricity anomalies as these as very present end game. You unlock this by completing the Quest givers first quest which is getting his family rifle back, which isn't a rifle, its a sawed off shotgun, so be careful not to sell it when starting the quest. Now you get repeatable Bloodsucker quest that nets you a single battery, which with 4-5(depending on armor) you'll get over the 100% threshold and the damage will be null while the lightning anomalies will now repair armor. Sadly won't repair weapons.
Second Tip: To offset the amount of radiation you are sucking back like a gopnik sucks cheap bottom shelf vodka, I recommend investing a few hours making sure you hunt down the Artifacts to help balance off radiation as well as keeping you're stamina pretty much infinite. You are going to want two Moonlights(Endurance of +106 for -10 shock which is offset by a couple Battery Artifacts) to offset Crystals(Radiation Resist of 30 with minus to Endurance of 10) and just a shit ton of bandages as you'll probably equip one or two Bleed effect artifacts like Urchin or Crystal Thorn as the third slot if you can't get three Crystals.
I usually run two moonlights and three batteries on my belt to speed sprint infinitely. When I get into heavy radiation areas or the late game area I slap on my full radiation resistant Artifacts and the rest is just eating Bandages and Medkits when taking too much lead.
Props to you for mentioning both the Stalker movie and Roadside Picnic, people usually forget about one or the other when talking about the game. Also props to you for mentioning the war even though its not a political channel, I feel like you can't talk about Stalker in 2024 without thinking about what's happening in Ukraine right now. You definitely deserve more views! Keep up the awesome work!

On the rerelease on console, they fixed the stadium glitch. I fought through the entire point and it was insane getting through.
It's the first video on Stalker from a non-Russian-speaking creator I've watched, and wow does the community and perception changes. I haven't finished the first game (Shadow of Chernobyl), but I have played through like half of it, I also completed the last one multiple times (Call of Pripyat). I do want to mention that you wrongfully mentioned that enemies appear at random locations each time you load a save 7:30 I don't know how that would even work, since you're not just reaching checkpoints, you are manually saving your progress. Enemies don't just teleport around. The reason why you may have bumped into enemies at different points while save-scumming is that most of them never stop moving, and you take less time to move around the map, so you bump into enemies at spots they visited last time as well just before you found them. I hope that makes sense. Also, the end of Shadow of Chernobyl is not the last we hear of Strelok. As you mentioned yourself, he appears in the sequel Call of Pripyat. SPOILER ALERT. There, if you safely protect him during the final helicopter evacuation mission, he will be mentioned in the epilogue. It is said that he shared his information with the Ukrainian Security Service (СБУ/SBU It's a real life organisation) he joins them as a scientist, having contributed to solving the mysteries of The Zone. All in all, a great video. It was also funny to hear the confusion at the untranslated parts of the game. It's as funny as it is sad, because 100% of the content and atmosphere are not accessible to thousands of fans around the world

Long time since I´ve played classic, but I do have STALKERSOUP. The "disengaged to alert", and "default positions and patrolling" is somewhat "manana". Load a save, and people do change positions if you are not actively engaged with them- like "as if" it is not a timefreeze, but the starting and "entering the zone" has its own sequence with a timeframe where the player is still omitted for a bit, they disengage, and start walking away(or sumpin). Now in modded stalker, on an old PC, It sometimes takes forerever for enemies to spawn, and I have had probelms with them snapping a quick T pose/gun grab (when I have hit the spawn point "where you at?") and then sprayed their abdomen as we both unloaded at 10 cm apart. These "until it is aready" kind of spawns, I remeber from vanilla aswell, but not to such an extent. The ZONE IS ANOMALOUS. I have walked the labs under Agropom several times through, and have had a bloodsucker spawn, then the rest X time later, as if the trigger got bamboozled somehow, it was all clear including the controller, but the mod also uses a walkaround, a teleporter anomaly you need to enter(and it migrates), that better ties into it being inaccessible, and a strue stash for a master stalker. I waas still surpúrised, when walking around confuised "how to get into the pipe", always teleporting me "away", then the bloodsuckers came, half an hour after the action has ended.
also he mentions that the monolith "come to me" isn't translated, it is but they used the russian voice lines by accident instead of the english ones

The funny thing about that building you HAVE to go through to get into the main Duty base, you ARE trespassing according to the game.
You stay in there for too long, dude opens fire on you. There's nothing in there, so no real reason why you would be in there for so long...but it is a thing.
