I love this guy. I knit or crochet every day. It zen me out and keeps me sane. Now he has inspired others who may have been afraid to try something new.
Louis, your words are incredible, it should serve as a reminder to all of us that from one thing we can create a chain of events. That fear? I understand, i get that fear with my job as a software developer, but there are times like this where i see something and realise i have something here to work from. Now the question is, how can we take this further than ourselves ?
Congrats, Louis! Great TED talk! I met you at New Visions School in Hartford, CT and saw you changing lives and lighting people up with inspiration. Cheers, Meg
Luis this was truly inspiring. We all have the ability to see the good in every day then be the good but it's having the courage to step out of our comfort zone . Keep doing all that you're doing because it's such a blessing
I was afraid to go to a knitting group for the first time when I was learning to knit and only knew knit and purl and to make a scarf-I didn’t feel worthy-but one day just decided I was going to go to a knit night and if they were mean or belittled me I would not return Well I met the kindest most encouraging people! Louis you are an inspiration to me and so many others Thank you 🙏
Louis, I haven't had the guts to approach you to meet you in person (I only saw you at VKL last year, looking super fashionable btw!!!) but you are so inspirational and I remember seeing that photo before you "blew up" and thinking YES this is what the world needs now..... I was tearing up watching your TedTalk.... keep your love light shining brother!!!!
I love this. I am female and feel funny about knitting in public. I tell my daughter all the time that fear will always hold you back. Guess I need to listen to myself. You are truly an inspiration. I'm looking forward to meeting you in October thru Rowan.
I certainly can understand what Louis was going through! I had begun knitting in the early 1980's and eventually hooked up with a couple of different knitting stores and taught in those and worked for a designer for a while as well. After moving to Manhattan in 1994, I would walk down to the Winter Garden in the World Trade Center in the morning and would sit on one of the benches there every day and knit for hours! People who worked there would point me out to their friends, tourists would come over and talk to me and so many people would take pictures of me, some close up and other would hide behind the columns and try to "sneak" a shot of me, hoping that I would not see them. I even was photographed by a guy who worked for "Newsday" and the pic ended up in the paper on May 30, 1996! I guess I was just fortunate in that I didn't care what people thought about me and what I was doing. It was just right for me and I was and am proud I am a knitter and knitwear designer! I'm glad that because of Louis's efforts we have come much further down this long path! Thank you, Louis!
I Love it Louis! Keep following the dreams! Men have always been great knitters! Only in the US is that they look down. In Europe men have been kntting for years!
The fear we sometimes have that what people would think or they might make fun of us....But you know the great thing is that they actually don't show any kind of hatred or condemnation...they really inspire us and help us achieve that....world is no longer the world people used to think of...nor even this was the culture that males didn't knit but they actually started it( I read about the history of knitting on internet)...really inspiring 🙌👌🤩💕❣️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
