The reason the 60 Hz is smooth is because it is an IPS LCD screen and not an OLED. OLED has instant response time which makes 60 HZ super horrible, like for example on my 13 pro 60HZ looks horrendous. On IPS LCD screens there is slight smoothing or built-in motion blur so it feels better. Its the same reason why people say Macbook Air displays are super good and buttery smooth like its a high refresh rate even though its 60Hz

Appreciate you talking about the product in a conversational way and actually providing feedback about how it works in day to day use. WAY too many videos about these products on TH-cam have been nothing but reviewers reading off specs from a teleprompter.
I wanted an iPad Air 13 inch for the longest time, long before they announced it. I came from the pro 12.9 inch and I’m really just a basic user and don’t need a “pro“ model. Then the iPad Air 13 inch was announced and finally became available, and what did I do? I traded in my 12.9 inch pro for an 11 inch air lol I only did that because I recently got the MacBook Air M3 and didn’t feel like I needed a 13 inch iPad since I had a 13 inch laptop now. I’m really enjoying the iPad Air, it fits my knee perfectly, and I don’t regret downsizing. But I did check out the 13 inch at the Apple store while I was there and it is absolutely amazing.
Its kinda good to see that 60hz of iPad Air is much smoother than iPad Mini and iPhone 15 (non pro) especially on gaming.. im starting to think that if iPad Air is secretly 90hz 😂 lol
That point you made about the aspect ratio, is the major reason why I allways doubt about the ipads....its nice to have a great colour full screen and a strong processor..... but a processor thats just a bit less with a better screen ratio like the tab s8 or s9 ultra....thats my preference .
can you confirm do you also face these things pleasa. i did order a ipad air recenlty 1. my display feels sticky (idk how to rightly describe it but its llike you can not move your finger on the display smoothly) 2. screen dips slightly when writing on ipad using pencil or hand 3. i feel some latency in onenote, and other apps, apple notes seems to be fine 4. camera shots are not great.
how does the screen compare against the original ipad pro mk1 13? is the quality the same or increased res? can anyone answer as i need to upgrade but don't really need ipad pro spec just for yt
Looking at buying this as a college student with the Magic Keyboard and pencil wouldn’t this still be better than Samsung in terms Of OS I haven’t used a iPad in like a decade so I’m not familiar with all the complaints
100% recommend getting this for college. Using OneNote and keeping a PowerPoint or lecture notes open on Split View is an absolute game changer ! I use my keyboard to type notes, but since I’m a math major, I tend to write more with the pencil. Also very nice because you can send copy’s of your notes to classmates if you use Microsoft OneNote( I use OneNote bc my university offers the Microsoft office pro plus package free to students)
The only thing that is stopping me is the 60 hz refresh rate. Could you please tell me if that is working fine for you? If I write my notes on it and if the refresh rate is slow, that would be EXTREMELY frustrating.
Hi Ivan. New subbie here. I use my iPad Air 10.5inch for work. I write on documents a lot and need compatibility with windows for easy file sharing. Between the iPad Air and the Samsung tab s9 ultra which do you recommend?
Thanks for subbing. The S9 Ultra (or any non iPadOS device for that matter) would be the way to go, simply because Apple doesn't play nice, especially when file sharing across platforms. Your best bet in this specific case is to go with the S9 Ultra because Samsung actually has a collab with both MS (Windows) and Google that will make things...just easy overall.
@@IvanKam11 I bought it!!!! Thank you! That was the best decision ever. Now I just need a set up video from you then I’ll put you in my will as the best TH-camr ever 🥹
I mean I don't understand what's wrong with apple on one hand where other brands are providing 120 hrtz quarreling quad or 8 speakers with dolby surround 3 d sound imursive dynamic display apple are still stuck with 60 hrtz ?
Good review. I'm a artist and animator, I have a 10.5 inch pro. I was looking at the 13 inch air for the reason you said Bigger screen. I would of gotten the 11 inch pro Haveny decided yet
You might not see my comment but i hope you do that thing holding me back is that is the ipad air smooth with taking notes and drawing and also the hz is just i dont im worried of the hz cuz i whan t to feel satisfied and is it a perfect size for gaming
They absolutely can; specifically Samsung flagship. Those last a long time because they're built to last - on top of that, they are supported just as long as ipads, and the anticipation for the next gen is going to be supported longer than ipads (7 years)
Did you do something with iPadOS? I bought a new Air 13" 6 days ago but mine not feels as smooth like yours. :) Don't get me wrong it's fine but in your video is more satisfying.
Lol, not sure why it looks smoother here 😅, but I'm going to assume that it also depends on the apps and setup that you're using it in. Overall though, it offers an excellent user experience and I found it to be very smooth
Hii i want an ipad too for netflix, digital arts, designs, productivity, movies, and games and random shit..! So should i get the ipad M2 air 13 inch or the ipad pro m4 13 inch..? I also want one to use for the next 10-15 years so..? Ima bit confused i think except for the 60hz problem everything is almost great in ipad air.. but still I’m confused between these two so plz suggest me on your experience
Hey Ivan . Thanks for the great reviews man! I saw all your s9 videos too! Which is the better tablet for TH-cam videos, and second screen use in your opinion. The 13 inch air or the s9 plus?
Enjoyed your review very much; thanks. I sing in a choir and want to move away from paper sheet music. I do use my IPad Pro 13” for my digital sheet music but it’s way too heavy to use at choir practices /hold at a concert. The IPad Air 13 on the other hand is much lighter and would weigh about the same as my paper choir book…so I think I found my excuse for getting it 🎶😉
This is definitely a 90z panel. I've checked at an apple store 6 times. The 11 inch is still using 60hz though. I think apple won't admit 90hz in the specs, because it shows that Tim Cook is using unsold 'ipad 5' panels in the 11 inch model and a newer 90hz panel, in the 13 inch. This kind of logistic move, is typical of Tim Cooks ceo style - he's all about the parts supply chain.

I do have the magic keyboard with my 11" ipad pro, and the experience there is excellent. I'm going to assume that it'll be an even better experience given that it's a larger keyboard 👍🏾

I'll second this! I just don't understand the appeal of an iPad anymore for a serious adult. My daughter recently replaced my granddaughters' 9th generation iPad with Galaxy Tab A8s. Since I bought the iPad for them, she gave it back to me. I wiped it and upgraded it to the latest version of iPadOS, then proceeded to only use it for about an hour when I realized that it's only good for kids or a very elderly adult who doesn't know anything about computers. I'm thinking about giving it to my mom or my mother-in-law. I have a Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and a Surface Pro 8. I thought the iPad might replace my Tab S6 Lite, but OneUI on Android 13 is light years ahead of iPadOS for actually usability, especially when it comes to multi-tasking. Definitely agree with you. Apple has done something with the display, the 60hz seems more smooth compared to the 60hz display on iphone 15
