Season 1 of that show is I think the greatest work of cinema ever created
Agreed, I also really liked season three as well.
It's up there, but Deadwood holds that mantle for me.
It was excellent, but The Wire is the greatest show of all time
I agree about the first half with the unique time shift BUT the second half suffered and the climax and story resolve was actually pretty shitty in retrospect.

I used to like films more than series but now I’m more of a fan of mini series like this. Like an 8 hour movie. I love it.
Give Mare of Easttown a chance if you haven’t already. I believe you’ll like it.

She's also great in Gone Baby Gone. The book was great, the movie was just as good, and the film company really missed a great opportunity to make that book series into a great movie series as well.

Season 1 was a masterpiece. Seasons 2-3 just can’t compare.
Seasons 2-3 were good but they weren't like season 1 that's for sure.

True Detective 1st Season, AMAZING. I got to be honest, I didn't know Michelle was pregnant or the growing heinie during viewing. I might have to watch for it next time.
Michelle is STUNNING. Wow. And TD S1 is beyond great. Very few shows have ever hit that mark: Breaking Bad, Sopranos, The Shield, and more recently Mr. InBetween. Too bad the rest of the TD seasons weren't as solid as the OG. Hoping that changes with this upcoming season starring Jodie Foster. 🤞

Why do people always say a good TV show is like a movie? It's a TV show.
I didn't like the design of her house. There's no way that character would've had an old-fashioned table runner on her table for example. She wouldn't of had double layer 1960s era curtains in the laundry room. The missteps on set decoration (ONLY of her home -the rest of the sets were perfection) took me out of the story.
From 99-2019 it seemed like everything HBO touched turned to gold. Now it sucks. They chose content over quality.
