The Smogg's defence of the indefensible. A fixed penalty is not an admission of guilt. Correct but it is an alternative to PROSECUTION. Johnson could have tested his innocence in court if he was so sure of it. "we conclude that Mr Johnson is unlikely to have been unaware" is a phrase plucked out of paragraph 83 with no context by Rees Mogg. Context :-Johnson asserts that he did not observe what was going on as he passed the entrance to the Press Office, on the way to his flat at 9.58 pm because his “mind was decisively elsewhere” and “my attention is often elsewhere when I am returning to the flat”. How could he not have observed a gathering of 25 -40 who had been drinking since 5PM that went on to the "early hours” Whether the report statement is a double negative or not is irrelevant to its conclusion which any reasonable person would come to. Johnson was assured that all rules were being followed and Rees Mogg received the same assurances:- Findings of report para. 181 "Johnson initially asserted that Guidance had been complied with when he had meant to say Rules, and rather than correcting what he now admits to have been an error, subsequently reiterated this assertion despite having been advised by his Principal Private Secretary not to make this claim. He was content to convey the impression that the events (plural) against which allegations had been made were in fact “non-events”, and, to paraphrase, that it was nonsense to suggest that the rule- makers at the heart of government were also rule-breakers." Appearance of bias ;- The committee comprises 4 Tories 2 Labour including the chair and 1 SNP MP's. Any perceived bias is firmly in the Tory camp by the very structure of the committee. The only one attacked by Smogg is the Labour Harriet Harmen for bias because of a tweet yet all members of the committee have criticised Johnson at one time or another and as the man is proven pathological liar it would be extremely difficult for anyone sitting on the committee or in Parliament not to be aware of this incontrovertible fact. Harmen informed the commons that she offered to stand down but was assured everything was OK. Now the Smogg wants to know who gave such an assurance According to the Smogg there is not a shred of evidence against Johnson yet according to the committee he • Deliberately mislead the Commons on numerous occasions • Deliberately mislead the Committee • Breached confidences • Impugning the Committee and thereby undermining the democratic process of the House • Being complicit in the campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the Committee. All of these findings are self evident and only the wilfully blind or ignorant could come to any other conclusion 118 Tories vote in support of the report 225 abstained . Aneurin Bevan proved right yet again. Nothing has changed since 1948.
I don't think you should leave Brexit out of it James. Many, if not all Tory MPs who abstained, campaigned for parliament to be sovereign. But when parliament does something that doesn't feather their nest, they deserted their posts. Let the ones shouting sovereignty the loudest in the run up to the vote in 2016, explain their subsequent desertion.
I am very much afraid that it appears the only reason for anyone going into politics at the national level, and this is particularly apparent in current Conservative Party ranks, is for self advancement, an easy life with optional working hours, honours for doing very little very badly and retiring with a handsome pension. Contrast this with the country’s teachers and workers in the NHS where a strong element of vocation and dedication to a career is met with little more than a kick in the teeth for their efforts.
My MP didn't show up, _despite_ being a Johnson ally, _despite_ being a recipient of a knighthood, curtesy of the aforementioned Johnson and _despite_ being a backbencher. Step forward, Conor Burns!
Conor Burns is apparently the MP who walked in on Carrie Symonds flossing her teeth with Boris's Johnson, in Johnson's HoC office when he was Foreign Secretary. I imagine he's scarred for life.

You aren’t alone. Neither opposition party is supporting tactical voting officially but unofficially Labour is soft pedalling in many south/south west seats and Lib Dems are doing the same in parts of the South East and Red Wall.
He was content to convey the impression that the events (plural) against which allegations had been made were in fact “non-events”, and, to paraphrase, that it was nonsense to suggest that the rule- makers at the heart of government were also rule-breakers."
Appearance of bias ;- The committee comprises 4 Tories 2 Labour including the chair and 1 SNP MP's. Now the Smogg wants to know who gave such an assurance
According to the Smogg there is not a shred of evidence against Johnson yet according to the committee he • Deliberately mislead the Commons on numerous occasions • Deliberately mislead the Committee • Breached confidences • Impugning the Committee and thereby undermining the democratic process of the House • Being complicit in the campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the Committee. All of these findings are self evident and only the wilfully blind or ignorant could come to any other conclusion
118 Tories vote in support of the report 225 abstained .
The Guardian published the full roster of MP's and how they voted or bottled it.

Well, if that is true at least his constitutes can see plainly what kind of man he is. A Jelly Back. 😮😅
He has one of those faces I would never tire of punching .
Sounds about right. When he said he was going to do that, it sounded exasperated, and just not wanting to be picked on at the moment, not like someone who's heart was changed.

So who was on all those you tube videos, his twin?
@@jimnkor He grandstanded in a couple of debates, but the OP is correct, he utterly failed to do his job, up to and including getting appointed to the fisheries committee (remember when he used to pretend Brexit was magically wonderful for British fishing?) but never attending the meetings.
He represented his constituents by making sure we left that dictatorship called the eu.
@@MiltonMoJunction If you look at all the associated polling, Brexit happened in spite of Farage, not because of him (there's a reason the official Leave campaign wanted nothing to do with him; he has a few people who are gullible / bigoted enough to like him, but the vast majority of the public have always - quite rightly - despised the guy). But if you want Farage to take the credit for Brexit, who am I to stop you? It's a great way to ensure that he is properly eviscerated by the few history books that remember him...

I actually like Sunik when he was chancellor and was willing to give him room to develop as a PM, but this act of cowardice on his part in relation to Boris has stymied that completely. I guess I am voting either liberal or labour in the next election because I can no longer stomach the Tories…. This will be my first non Tory vote in a general election. There are limits… they have now been reached.
Even when he was chancellor he was providing a non domestic tax cut for his wife who, yes, did live in England. They're all under contempt for their disgusting actions.
Yes Rishi’s reaction is the same as Starmers behaviour to Corbyn. That’s politics I suppose.
Interesting that this is your limit. Not something to brag about.
I think it's to be commended that you have come to this realization, and that you'll act accordingly. It makes me sad that it has taken so much for you to do so. Rees Mogg kept on going on about the law. His degree is History! He knows nothing about the law! It was all bamboozle!
History and Law are inextricably linked, as law depends so much on precedent. Precedent IS history.
What did Osborne know about Economics? His degree was also History.

The British people need to get off their knees and march on mass towards Westminster and
demand change, for to uphold real democracy and free from tyranny and oppression.
If an MP misses 6 votes within a year they should be sacked and hold a bi election for not doing their jobs
Totally agree. Also, they shouldn't have their own media shows like JRM. An MP's job, if it is done properly, would mean that there just not enough time to spend on other 'distractions'.

My MP did not turn up, he's on the armaments committee, so will probably use that as his excuse. The fact that he is a spinless weasle has nothing to do with it of course.. I met him in parliament in 2017 as part of a group he said when he was in the military he was fed up of the politicians and decided the only way to change things was from the inside. In the months leading up to the departure of Mr Johnson I wrote him a letter about everything I thought they had ballsed up!
