Wow. That's awesome guys. Why doesn't the commonwealth make this a normal thing? British Soldiers in Australia. New Zealanders in Ottawa. I think it'd be a great way to strengthen the already strong relationship between us.
This is a regular thing, but only for them to come to the UK. There is no reason for British soldiers to do public duties in Ottawa for example. However, there are frequently Commonwealth units on PD in London.
While a nice idea, guarding the sovereign can only really take place in the UK. The Canadian Army has their own "Household " units that guard the Governor General. I'm sure its the same in other Commonwealth countries.
It has to be the Sovereign, those units come here due to her status as head of the Commonwealth, that's why the guard Buckingham and St James and not the Tower Of London when they are here.

Right, so Queenston Heights didn't happen? What about the Burning of York, where American burned down Upper Canada's capital before Britain burned the white house? The attack on Kingston? None of these things happened?
Invading territory directly belonging to Britain is invading Britain. If Canada invades St Pierre and Miquelon, the islands just off of Newfoundland that still belong to France as a territory, it counts as invading France. Your arbitrary line doesn't make any sense.
America was British territory then, why would they have counted as a separate group in the French and Indian war? Any invasions into Canada pre-1867 count as an invasion of Britain, and the United States did that several times in the war of 1812. America were the ones who declared war as well, so it was an offensive invasion.
I never said Canadians fought in the war of 1812 bud. I don't know why you're saying that. And I also never said the American declaration of war was illegitimate.
