Didn't the Omani Police win this competition a couple of years ago? Interesting to note that many of these countries held on to British military traditions and drills.
Former British protectorate. Jordans current king was a member of the British armed forces and Jordanian armed forces. The traditions have stayed around.
Many countries around the world still hold on to the british colonial era military traditions. Not just marching but the military ranks, gallantry medals and organizational structure. India and Pakistan are two such examples. Fought wars against each other but if it wasnt for the color of the uniform, you will not be able to tell them apart.
I would say, all of them. Chilean here. Our armed forces follow the Prussian tradition, so, it is not about high balancing arms, but the highest goose-step achievable, remaining elegant. This kind of competition wouldn't make any sense here.
I came prepared to jest, but I come away with a huge sense of satisfaction having watched great team work and precision. Truly it put a smile on my face

@@pierevojzola9737 I'm not sure Piere I'd volunteer for a side likely to lose. The separatist regions of the Donbass want to be Russian, are Russian speaking, and voted to be Russian. Crimea now will stay Russian. I fear it was Western Ukrainians with neo-Na zi leanings and the Euromaiden riots that kicked this shambles off, aided now by NATO interference, despite promises in 1991 that it would move not one inch further East. In this instance, we are at fault.
Nice. The distance from the stick end to the outside toe, wee toe, I am guessing there is a recommended distance for that ? They were quite smart and performed together. Making my blood curdle a little bit, green with jealousy.

I've seen them doing these on several occasions, but had no clue what was being looked at etc. This was a great video. I'd be interested in seeing the results of scores and results to a better understanding of what is being looked at. The only thing I 'noticed' was that one of the sticks rattled when they were resting. Is that a bad thing?
Well I can tell you right now that I have spider veins in my calves from marching and stamping on hard ground... I can imagine that it would be the same for those who are a part of this stick...
it is a hang over from a time when Drill was a nessecity for operations. Although Drill is still important for other reasons, i dont beleive it has practical use in modern operational context.
A pace stick is used as a measure of step between one foot and the other to ensure that all personnel march to the same step, so yes whilst this example is for fun allowing teams to be entered showing off their best, it is still a very practical part of the military (even the RAF do it!)
The Pace Stick is an exact measurement tool. I have seen the RSM of 3 Para in Bahrain have all the tents pulled down, ground cleared and using his Pace Stick measure up the Company Lines to have the exact spacing and alignment between the tents, latrines, vehicle pool and cookhouse. Absolute perfection when seen from the air. Camp was located on the spare runway of the Manama Air Field and every flight into the country would see the camp layout. Nothing has changed since the Roman Legions Centurion used his Vine Stick to lay out the Roman Camp in Britain. For some, the past is in the present, all you have to do is ask, live & learn! Cheers mate Harera
A nice example of Obsessive -Compulsive disorder (OCD). Such behaviour gives the 'actor' the illusion of control over their denied aggressive impulses. Tribal War dances have the same purpose. To these I would add the tight formation dance routines we see everywhere on TV variety shows.
So how about instead of war we have “war games”. Drill exercises and the winner (judged by those ever present neutrals, the Swiss) takes all. Countries, borders, languages the lot…. No deaths, no rhetoric, just “simple” exercises that mark military expertise. Look up Michael Palin’s excursion to the Pakistan/Indian border where the border guards attempt to out flourish each other. Held to the cheers, and occasional jeers, of the massed civilians from each side. Nobody dies - surely a good thing…
What´s the sense of this "knee pulling up and stumping"? It looks so odd to non-British folk which was never under British rule. And lays the sense of this pace sticking not therein to measure a distance? I seriously doubt that anyone of them did count their way, otherwise there would be no help be set uo (those pillars!).
Apparently it’s going to be an Olympic sport soon due to absolutely no interest from anyone whatsoever other than the bloke narrating and the other bloke shouting
Wow! Very impressive. A real credit to Jordan.

My thoughts too

Kuwait Jordan and Oman , probably the only competent military in the region that abide by the Geneva convention

Fantastic.
Well done.
What a show of immaculate order, control, discipline and uniformity.
Well done Jordan, that looked impressive. Even managed it well in our miserable weather.😊 Thanks too for the great commentary.
Immaculate performance chaps, well done!
Some of the best pace sticking I’ve ever seen, very impressive.
Excellent performance. This is what you call standard!!!
Nice work Jordan
Very graceful as well as precise 👍🏻
Impressive marching, always admired their uniforms
They were amazing. Congrats to them and whoever won this competition.
The officer is very casual conducting his inspection

Jordan well done !
01:10 were their ties central ? I couldn't tell
I tried to participate in a parade , i know how hard it is to maintain pace

Outstanding
Bravo bravo 👏🏽. Very handsome marching, my compliments
Fantastic
They do it better than us! Well done guys!
What are the sticks for? I still don't get it.
Good video!
This is cool
Not at all easy to do. Well done, Jordan.
Sound drills....impressive
that is tough
In the Jordanian army do you get an allowance for a mustache with a certain rank?
I think a well groomed stache is default authorized there.
💯💯💯

Interesting 👏
Perfect breakfast video
Never knew this was a thing
Bro see drill of India. Then u will get to now what is pace drill
It should be an olympic discipline !
The instructions are given in English? That's interesting, over here they are translated into English. haha
Is this for fun or is there some practical employment for these drills?

I have a feeling that when The Mall is lined with troops, their spacing is set up by a RSM with a pace stick.
@@Paddington60- That’s correct.👍

Does the British Amry find it embarassing that the Jordanian Army is now larger & better equipped than they are?
Breads in the Welsh Guards on a Major????
This will help against the enemy?
Their drill looks realy similar to British drill.
Textbook. A British protectorate from 1921-1946.
Also their current King is a graduate from Sandhurst and served with the British Army as a Troop Commander.
Lots of former British "protectorates" continued the British drill they saw in their occupied homeland instead to invent a new one.
🫡👍👍
You can't beat the Pakistanis in this

What's this beard stuff
Shave that beard sir
No beard here its a mustache bro
Until I saw this. I thought the Household Cavalry was a frivolous and excessive defence expenditure. I stand corrected. 😂
wtf is this.....
wtf is this XD
Pointless army stuff
If you find it pointless don't watch it. Watch something you can add a positive comment to. If you are able
Why?
It's living history, and it's a bit of fun and games.
All part of drill that disciplins a soldier for good team work.
How so? If your going to leave a bait comment like that then at least try and back it up.
Jordanian Arab Legion?
That was the predecessor of the Royal Jordanian Army.
No wonder the army is under manned and needs recruits .😂😂
