Thank your for your service. I hope to one day to join the Canadian Air Force and fly my favourite Jet, the CT-155 Hawk. Classic Jet that never loses its prestige, similar to the sports car counterpart. Maybe it needs a new updated paint job?
I want to become a pilot for the air force. After basic training and university degree, what is the selection process like for military flight school? What do you guys look for? how do I prepare? If I don't happen to get in the first year, can I still try the year after?
Jordan wang you definitely need the university degree and along with basic training you will also need to complete the officer training course following your basic. The selection process is among the toughest for pilots. You need to score quite well on the aptitude test before they even consider if you can be a pilot and then if you get into flight school it’s competitive with small margin for error I’ve heard. I imagine you can apply again if it doesn’t work out the first time as well. Hope this helps
@@blakewang2373 I could suggest researching RCAF aptitude tests so you can get a feel of what to expect for those, keep up that physical fitness, keep building your life experience and maybe even go talk to your local recruiter. Probably wouldn’t hurt and they’d help you explore your options.

But other than that did they tell you how long it wouldve been to get into infantry on the waiting list. I dont care if im light infantry or mechanized infantry i would be fine with either. But from the research ive done light infantry gets the more adventurous and fun training/deployments while mechanized is all with vehicles.... plus i also heard traffic technician gets the most/fun deployments and there in demand. We dont have f35s and the chance of getting isnt guaranteed because theres 3 other aircraft in the competition, including the gripen e which would be 5x better for Canada
You can 20/70 vision but has to be able to be corrected to 20/20 with glasses to become a pilot, usually the pilots with glasses will be sent to fly everything else other than the cf18s (there are some tho) so I'd say there is a chance you'd be allowed to fly the globemaster or herc as long as it's better than 20/70 and how well you do in training etc etc etc. They dont always let you choose which aircraft you fly they will look at your exam and flight training records and what aircraft needs more pilots etc. Sorry for the long reply :)
There needs to be a limited required flight hours for technicians to ensure flight safety… PERIOD. The Swiss cheese effect is real and starts on the ground.
