I always thought it was a perception of how they saw themselves. Guts being a Dog because he sees himself as loyal to Griffith at one point. Hence to the expression dogs at war. Skull night on the other hand could have saw himself as some kind of grim reaper always sending people off to their deaths or always doing the killing himself maybe. That's just my theory though.

It is Berserk. Void probably tried to save Gaiseric by sacrificing Gaiser's Kingdom. Void likes to give the impression that he is a god and is all-powerful(something Slan reminds him off that the Godhand are NOT gods). Void is just a big derp.
@@Greideren Skull Knight comes from an alternate timeline where Griffith/Femto is either his version of Void or becomes something much much worse. Skull knight travels to the the point in time where the events of Berserk takes place to stop Griffith/Femto into what Skull knight knows he becomes. This theory explains why Skull Knight shows up at very specific times out of the blue and knows where Guts is because hes done this before and/or has seen the events already take place. Either that or Flora has already told him exactly what will happen and where to go, shes aiding Skull Knight in his quest just like how Schierke aids Guts in his quest
Not even alternate timeline but a cyclical. I think Skull Knight is Gizerik and represents Guts, the Sage is Void and represents Grifith. So in the past Gizerik hunted down Void. Or, it could be another God Hand who is dead now and Gizerik killed him.
I feel skull knight more like Griffith, in fact I suspect Skull Knight was the previous reincarnation of the egg of the perfect world. Miura told us that reincarnation happened one time every 1000 years, and then was exactly when the "demon king" Gaiseric conquered the whole world just like Griffith is doing now. But yeah, interestingly enough SK have feature of both Griffith and Guts. It would be shocking if SK is also appearing to Griffith and giving him some advices just like he is doing with Guts lol

I very much doubt it, the whole thing has basically been about fighting against fate and the struggles of being human. I dont think he’d miura would do that
I noticed this too... also, in an interview with Miura, they asked him where he got the idea about the 216 years thing, and he said oh, it was just something he found out about solar eclipses that they occur (in europe?) every 216 years, and are apparently associated with witches, demons and black magic. Miura really does his research for a lot of elements in his manga, he's very world conscious and I wouldn't be surprised if he's been taking his time to include the world events at present seeing as we are in crazy times...much like Guts and co is....
Skull Knight kinda looks like the Four Horsemen combined. War = the sword he wields. Conquest = the crown he wears. Death = his appearance. Famine = the black horse he rides.
It was shown before that Void stood with another 4 god hand members, that aren't slan, conrad and the rest. I think it's safe to assume that void is the leader, and has been recruiting other godhand everytime skull knight manages to kill one.

Skull knight being geisric and having his beast of darkness be a skeleton actually really lines up I think. The untold thousands or millions that died with the fall of his empire probably haunts him, so much so that his guilt and rage manifested itself as a skeleton, a symbol of death amongst many cultures. His beast probably tortured him with the memory of all those who died because of him, telling him he's a harbinger of death, and all those around him are destined to die.
Regarding his appearence my guess is, that the skull knight while alive fought until, his body took so much damage, that he could no longer live without the armor binding his body together. This is not mere speculation. Schirke actually mentions this when we are introduced to the armors power. She mentions a person who fought until all of his blood spilled out of his body. My guess is that this warrior was him hundreds of years ago, and what we see now is basically him, in the armor, but no longer limited by his body since it probably rotted away in the armor hundreds of years ago. So he 's basically a magic armor with a dry skeleton inside and a soul.
My theory after reading the latest chapters is that Skull Knight managed to kill the former Godhand but Void. I remember a panel showing a different Godhand, and only Void was familiar. Also about he being the King is kind of why many characters called him "his majesty". Perhaps someone with a Behelit betrayed him and became the first Godhand (Void?).
I think he probably was in a similar situation as Guts is now and he feels empathy for the man, sadly i think there is a small chance that Guts can end like him too.
With the recent chapter, I don't know what to say. I don't know how they will continue the story without Guts becoming Skull knight. Whatever they're gonna pull off, it's probably gonna be huge.
In my opinion I think SK is King Gaiseric, but I also think the legend/story of King Gaiseric has been Misconstrued by the people in berserk. There’s so many clues we just have to piece them together and create a different story or wait for Miura to finally tell Skull knight’s backstory.
I don't think that the Skull Knight will ever receive a backstory but will have more clues about him as the story goes. We never got at any point some clues from him himself about his backstory besides the Berserker armor, on the other hand, everything related to him is told by the others like Slan, Witch Lady of the forest and maybe Judeau so there's a big chance that not everything will be true or related about him.
I think that is he Gaiseric and that there are were 4 God Hand Members that were killed by Gaiseric when he wore the berserker armor who 'died' in the process, Void survived and now a new group of the God Hand has been formed and now SK and Guts can together destroy the God Hand ending the cycle forever.
@@crazyscotsman9327 But aren't members of the god hand just a part of a much bigger world of demons? They are the God hand, not god himself. It's like they execute god's will but by no means, their death can stop this cycle of causality so to do that the only option that is for god to die.
See this is why i wished when mangaka start feeling unsure about finishing a story, its written out like an actual book or script to be published or select people can continue producing the story under its strict guide.... I understand many reasons as to why this isnt normally done but still....

I'm wondering if some "humans" are half "other". Take a close look at Guts ears then look at Flora's ears. Several other people in Berserk have pointed ears. And others have rounded human ears. So Guts may be human +. Which explains why he's able to take the beating he does on a regular basis.
I think that's just a bit of stylization,as some people just have pointer ears than others, and guts' ears are not nearly as long as actual ears of elfs in Berserk

Alright, so here's what I think happened: Skull Knight is King Gaiseric. He ruled his empire and at one point for some reason imprisoned a sage or preacher (I'll get to that) and had him tortured underneath his castle. That sage became Void by sacrificing the people who's branded skulls lie under the Tower of Rebirth and destroying the then capital of the empire in the process by accidentally summoning the Eclipse on top of it, causing the rest of Gaiseric's lands to fall into disarray and the empire to be broken up in the following power vacuum. This is what was later misconstrued as Gaiseric's divine punishment in the legend. Who exactly the sacrifices were to Void I can't say for certain, but given that he has a very zealous air about him, I am speculating that in his previous life he might've been a preacher or philosopher who's views did not agree with Gaiseric's leadership and the sacrifices were his flock or students who were imprisoned with him (or came to save him if you want to go all out on the parallels to Griffith). This is part in particular is completely pulled out of thin air, but I personally find it quite plausible. In a quest for revenge Gaiseric began hunting Apostles and those who were striving to become Apostles, forging the Beherit Sword from captured Beherits in the process, with the express goal of killing Void and later the emergent God Hand. At some point he interacted with Dwarves, who either gave the Berserker Armor to him or possibly created it at his request, and with the Elves, who used magic to allow him to exist partially in the Astral Plane despite still being a human at this point not unlike bearers of the Brand of Sacrifice or even traverse from one plane to another entirely as he does now (thought that may just be an ability of the Beherit Sword) so that he may battle Apostles and spirits more easily. Note that him existing in both planes seems to be distinct from the minor Interstice that Guts and Casca are stuck in, as Astral beings apparently do not automatically sense his presence as far as we know, though we can't say that with certainty. I believe that this is the source of the Elven aura which Puck sensed around him because the transition between planes is one of the Elves' most notable abilities and it would've been absolutely crucial for Gaiseric to effectively go up against supernatural beings of any kind. Through his battles against the supernatural he slowly began to be consumed by the Berserker Armor, but when it killed him his essence or soul was still held halfway in between the Astral World and the Physical World and changed to resemble his inner demon, an armored skeleton. Now at some point before or after his death, but most likely after receiving the Beherit Sword, Berserker Armor and the Elven enchantment, Gaiseric undergoes somewhat of a change in character, possibly due to being jaded from a life of Apostle hunting or maybe because his death to the Berserker Armor somehow separated him from his inner demon (which might actually be the purpose of the armor, but that's also completely unsupported by anything). How he regained a corporeal form I again do not know (some options are possession, new body created by magic, old body reanimated by magic...), but he continued to fight apostles, eventually running into Flora (who may actually have helped him out with getting a physical body, Flora is really fucking old after all). The two become friends or at least allies and Gaiseric, who at least at this point probably only goes by Skull Knight, continues his Apostle hunting quest until present day. Foreseeing Griffith's betrayal and Gut's quest for revenge he warns Guts in a somewhat half-assed attempt to spare him the same suffering he went through. When shit hits the fan at the Eclipse he pulls Guts and Casca out of there in hopes of making Guts his ally in the battle against the God Hand and in the case of Casca already with plans to use her connection to Guts and Griffith as leverage. He proceeds to appear to Guts in critical moments to either save him and people that will be important to his progress as a warrior or to push Guts in the right direction towards becoming stronger and succumbing to the Berserker Armor, leading him to become a vengeful spirit similar to Skull Knight who will be able to assist him in battle against the God Hand or take over where he left of should he die for good. The one thing this theory (or rather series of theories) does not explain is how the hell he can see through time. I have absolutely no idea. It might be a side effect of existing between planes or he might've gotten it as separate feature similar to how he got the Berserker Armor from the Dwarves and the enchantment from the Elves, he might've just developed it over time as a powerful Astral being to counter the abilities of Apostles and the God Hand. Who knows?
Maybe SK/Gaiseric's ability to see through time originally came from the seer who became Void, it's possible that the seer taught Gaiseric how to do it. They both talk about causality more than any other character in the series and this could also help explain how they originally disagreed, became mortal enemies, and the empire collapsed. Maybe they both witnessed the future and had opposite beliefs on what they wanted to do in an effort to affect that timeline (or play into it).
I don’t remember it ever saying he died of the berserk armour. I don’t remember it saying he died ever. I remember it saying that he couldn’t bare the armour anymore so he got rid of it and had flora store it
I never understood the "SK was a former godhand" theories. There are big reasons as to why it just doesn't add up. He would still be considered "demonkind", which as we know Guts' brand reacts to demonkind, and it just doesnt towards SK. Also on the subject of the Godhand and its origin, I believe that the godhand has existed since the beginning of humanity if we go based off of the Idea of Evil. Which people may say is "not canon" but nothing in the story, so far, has pointed to it not being canon, the Idea world exist and it still can be seen at the end of chapter 82. Seeing as how the IoE exist and has existed, its not crazy to say that the 4 angels in the story of King Gaiseric would be 4 previous members of the godhand. I think what happened to Gaiseric was similar to what happened or is happening to Guts. Void summons the godhand and sacrifices the kingdom to become a godhand member, Gaiseric survives and goes on a revenge quest, he dons the berserker armor with Flora and dies, Becomes SK due to some dwarf or elf magic and is now trying to make up for that failure by guiding Guts into not failing based on everything he has learned over his 1000 years.
I am close to agreeing with you, I think that SK did manage to destroy 4 God Hand members after he donned the Berserker Armor, however Void was too strong and he died against Void. Now however that he has found someone strong enough and skilled enough to help him (Guts) he is grooming Guts to help him go into battle with the full godhand, and the two of them together might just be strong enough to destroy the Godhand once and for all stopping apostles from being created again.
the reason for that theory is because he and Griffiths share many similarities. When Gaiseric had the old armor its similar to how Griffith has the hawk armor now, and they both conquered midland and have their own kingdom. Also, Gaiseric's armor has the eclipse emblem. Same emblem is all over Griffith's Falconia castle. Also, when his kingdom fell it was said that four angels got destroyed his kingdom. Four Godhands came for Griffith, meaning that Gaiseric could have been the previous godhand to be reborn in the real world and killed off or betrayed and that was 1000 years ago which runs into the egg of the king showing up every 1000 to 1200 years and popped up for Griffith to be the Fifth again only to repeat the same thing Gaiseric went through.

For me it’s more likely that Void was Similar to Griffith. He sacrificed his army to become god hand and skull night was his close friend that was scarified and actually like Guts fights them till the end of times
Femto’s design is based on the helmet Griffith had while he was being tortured And voids skin being peeled and eyes sewn shut could also have been the result of torture
He’s probably the MAIN character and the whole timeline of Griffith and Guts is just one of many he has to attempt to intervene and save from the idea of evil
There's something about his mere presence..that just commands respect..and i love how he constantly helps Guts..I wish there was more backstory on him tho : ( ... he's one of my favourites too..
What I Admire about Skulls Knight is his endless and unwavering courage. The man has been fighting the god hand for a thousand years all by himself. Or maybe not alone because the Elfin Queen spirit is within him giving him his abilities. He did his best to save his queen when Void sacrifice him and her but lost her when he himself fell to the berserk armor’s power while fighting desperately to the bitter end to protect his queen from the apostles just as Guts was going to do for Casca when both got branded. Skull knight is the only being that can strike fear to the god hand so far maybe Guts will in the future too. If god hand drop their guard Skull knight will take everything from them especially you Void that is why Skull Knight is a total badass and MVP.
I personally believe that Skull Knight is on Skellig to attack the moonlight child. He knows that Griffith is only vulnerable when he the child and decides that is the only chance to kill him. I believe this will bring him into conflict with both Guts and Casca, what happens after that I don't know.
Ah yes Skull Knight, probably one of the most influenced character outside his own series. With King Hassan / The First Hassan being heavily based on him, as well as from the numerous characters from the Souls series. Apart from Raoh and Golgo 13, he probably has the coolest mount or horse in anime history. Imagine a horse that can jump through tall trees, move beyond the speed of sound, and other cool shit.

Skull knight as a villain would be dope but deosnt seem to be fair unless theirs something guts can gain from killing him cause guts currently has no chance against Griffith he needs a serious power up first Wonder what or who will give guts a edge against Griffith whatever it is it will probably have a hefty price attached
John Staymos my stomach feels like I have diarrhea, but when I go to the restroom all I do is fart, no doo doo at all. I've gone to the restroom probably an accumulated amount of time of like 3 hours now. What could be the cause of this, and what steps should I take to remedy this? Edit: I eat a relatively clean diet, no dairy or beans, mostly leafy greens and chicken, fish and seldomly beef.

I currently assume that Skull Knight and Void are both two parts of the Human that Once was Gaizeric. The first Eclipse tore the Evil in the King from his more Noble Warrior Side.
I've always thought that the Skull Knight was Miura's self insert or deux ex machinia. It seems like he's played directly as the Yoda of Berserk, and compared to all the other characters is rather unique in that.
IDK I don't think that Miura would just make a character as a Deus ex. I think that while SK does have a lot of Deus ex moments (Berserker armor and saving Guts and Casca from the Eclipse) the Gaeseric backstory and the relationship with flora imply that there is a lot more to his character than simply being there to save Guts

Im new to your channel and I've got to say that i really like the content you make so far, it's fulfilling because my friends aren't into Berserk so i don't talk to them about it, hearing a different perspective is awesome. One suggestion i would make is that on top of the manga panels, you could also add Berserk gameplay (if you have the game, that is) alongside your videos, it would add a dope aesthetic, that's all. Keep making these videos man, they're really cool :D
Great video. I don't know about him "seeing the flow of time" though. The ritual to appoint a new God Hand member occurs every 216 years, so he probably knew one was due. That's not seeing the future, that's just keeping track of the date. He does have some semblance of understanding regarding causality, however. I remember at one point he claimed "it is foretold I shall strike down Void... shall it be here?" or something to that effect. I think theory number 4 is the most likely. He was emperor Gaiseric, and Void was the sage who became the first God Hand by sacrificing the entire kingdom (explaining the corpses at the bottom of the tower marked with the Brand of the Sacrifice). The only confusing part is wherein the legend states 4/5 angels descended to destroy the kingdom. The theory of their being a previous "generation" of God Hand members that are succeeded/usurped every thousand years is an interesting one. I agree with your theory that the Skull Knight is merely a possessed suit of armour, a la Alfonse Elric. In the panel in which he swallows Rosine's behelit, the manga panel gives the common Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of something rattling inside a hollow tin (usually used when chucking something into a garbage can, as I understand it). I'm 99% positive Skull Knight is a hollow suit, animated through the magical bondage of his soul to the armour.
Watching your videos has made me realize I really need to catch up on Berserk. I did kind of think Skull Knight might have been a time travelling Guts, a distant ancestor of Guts or Gaiseric. I really hope this story gets to be completed
My theory is that skull knight was a "old Guts" a Guts before his time, a past reincarnation perhaps. And just like how guts is thriving to kill Griffith (or Femto) skull knight thrived to kill Void, as we all know that the reoccurrence of time is popular in the berserk manga, it is not entirely impossible that skull knight and void were like guts and femto centuries ago. This would explain skull knight letting guts take the berserker armor, for skull knight knows as well as anyone, what guts is going through and skull knight sees something in guts... something in guts that may surpass skull knight himself, and that's also probably why he (or it) let guts take such a dangerous, yet powerful item. Also the old lady who lived in the fairy realm (I forgot her name, excuse me) was like how Schrieke is to guts now but to skull knight back in the day, and she would explain how skull knight is still animate moving around and stuff, That or the berserker armor killed skull knight and now skull knight's vengeful spirit driven by malice is so powerful that it keeps him going to defeat the god hand, and we all know how gut's malice contributes to his power too, so maybe it's the physical form if skull knight's powerful "idea" to destroy the god hand and save mankind. What I'm saying is, like guts and Griffith, skull knight and void were once allies or friends but then void betrayed him like how Griffith did to guts. And this ties in to if skull knight was that king guy, and would explain the ammount of dead bodies branded with the brand of sacrifice all over his old kingdom, because maybe Void when he was still alive used the ritual to sacrifice hundreds of people in order to become a godlike figure, as of how this would work is unknown, and how he found out about it the first place.... Or maybe Void was the first to create it? And void's "idea" of it working was so powerful, the ritual got willed into existence, this would also explain his name "void" because the "realm of idea" id better know as "the void" in berserk, and that just ties in with his name cus his "idea" was so powerful. This may be why skull knight wants revenge on void too, since maybe void was the one who started all that hell with the god hand and etc. And became a threat to humanity, so skull knight now has too kill his old ally (or friend) "
Void can also manipulate time and space to deflect attacks, so Void probably refers to that ability as well. Maybe he is responsible for bringing the Idea of Evil (also something of a void or abyss as it called itself) into effect since he was a sage after all....maybe a kind of warlock or black magic user...orrr....devout heretic? Hence why he was tortured?? I keep wondering how Miura is gonna continue this or end this. Femto and the others are way too powerful...I think the only way for Guts or SK to defeat the Godhand is to manipulate the Idea of Evil. It claims to Griffith that it's only carrying out what the souls of humanity cry for...whether or not it actually intends for evil things to occur i'm not so sure, even if it's in the damn name. But maybe it's possible to change it into an idea of good? Maybe there IS a pole opposite of the evil (without good there's not evil) but we haven't been shown it yet. There is a thing called Primary Source and Primary Anomaly and I really feel like that's what Miura has reflected here. Otherwise, this Idea of Evil thing planned for Guts survival and is actually intentionally prepping Guts to take down Femto and the Godhand...and that griffith was lied to - it's not about him and his grandeur....it's about how he's there solely for guts to defeat him. Ha!

Here's my theory. Skull knight is Guts but from the future, or from an alternative version of the future where Guts may have lost his physical body. The Skull knight armour is the Berserk armour but changed.

Sorry, but this theory has been debunked: It’s been revealed that there were 5 godhand before the ones we know, when Skullknight was in the Eclipse we can see the 5 godhand, but none of them are the same as the ones we know except for Void. So my theory is that Gaeseric/Skullknight killed 4 members of the Godhand, but lost to Void and was killed, and then over a millennia one by one the godhand was replaced which also explains why Void is the “leader” of the godhand. This was all revealed by the dwarf on Skellig Island who unlocked the memory within the Berserker armour for Guts to see, which means he must have been wearing the armour when the eclipse occurred. Because we also see his beloved die on his arms with a Brand of Sacrifice, it’s theorised that Skullknight opened the eclipse for some reason, maybe to gain more power? As according to the legend of Gaeseric he was an oppressive King.
So everything we know of Skull Knight's past He is most likely Emperor Gaiseric He wore the Berserker Armor that Guts is wearing now He seems to have had a Romantic Relationship with a former Queen of the Elves of Elfhelm (and by extension has a history with Elfhelm itself) He is friends with Schierke's Mistress Flora Has a clear rivalry with Nosferatu Zodd And has an implied history with Void (more like Void is to Skull Knight as Griffith is to Guts) Stating all that the picture seems to be getting more clear We just need blanks filled like who was Zodd before he became an Apostle and what was his history with Skull Knight. Because their rivalry was implied to be millennia
I am sure we will find out much more in the next chapter. That cliffhanger in the last chapter teased an interesting and long overdue conversation between SK and Guts. The only problem now is, Miura is inconsistency in person when it comes to releasing chapters. So who knews when it finally comes out.
An interesting video on theories about this character. My theory is that the knight of skeleton is the man that used to be supreme king Gaisric which I am pretty sure at this point. That's why Slan referred to him as your majesty at one point. That along with the skull helmet which king Gaisric always wore in battle that resembles the head of the knight of skeleton which also looks like it has a crown indicates that it is Gaisric. Another part of my theory is that Gaisric was actually one of the god hand members, possibly the 1st. Arc 3 of the movie series shows that the capital of king Gaisric's kingdom was at the bottom of the dungeon's pit in where Griffith was being held and there were a huge amount of corpses all branded with the brand of sacrifice. It takes a huge number of sacrifices for one of the holders of a crimson behelit to become a demon of the god hand which is exactly what we see at the bottom of that pit. It would make sense that the knight of skeleton is actually the first original member of the god hand which is why he is powerful enough to stand toe to toe with the other god hand members. I think that Gaisric, like Griffith was given a crimson behelit and destined to have his own kingdom and they both shared similar fates in once their ambitions crumble after reaching the top, they sacrificed their own flesh and blood along with a huge sacrifice of the lives of other people to become a god hand member. Gaisric lived around 1000 years ago or more from the current timeline according to the story and every 216 years, a new god hand member is chosen. Since there are now 5 members including Griffith, that means 1080 years have had to pass for there to be these 5 members and that means Gaisric was around before the first of the current god hand members came into existence. This leads me to believe that Gaisric was actually the first chosen member of the god hand and the original king of the god hand members which may be another reason why Slan referred to him as your majesty. After becoming the knight of skeleton or the first god hand member, Gaisric learning what fate that the idea of evil had in store to steer the destiny of the universe and what roll he had to play in all of it, decided to go against that fate. He likely did not like the idea that his entire existence was being steered by an outside force and felt that humanity and the rest of the universe should be able to decide its own fate, which Gaisric was denied being that his fate was being directed by this outside force called the idea of evil much like Griffith's was. That is why he seems to be fighting on the side of humanity and at times goes out of his way to help humans in several life and death situations. It's like he is atoning for his past sins by being the opposition of the god hand and the ill fate that they are directing the universe towards. As Judo said, Gaisric became drunk with power at one point which may have likely lead his kingdom to turn against him and to hold on to that power, he gave into the idea of becoming the first god hand member because of the promise of more power. As they say, what do men with power want? More power. Either that or to get more power to hold onto his kingdom, he had the berserk armor made by the dwarves that eventually killed him, which at the point of his death with his body torn apart much like Griffith's situation, he sacrificed his kingdom which had turned against him to become a god hand member. I think that Griffith is actually his replacement as the king of the current god hand members, hence why they call Griffith the king of longing. It also seems like members of the god hand possibly take up a form that resembles what state they were in right before they had died which is why Griffith or Femto's head looks like the helmet Griffith was wearing right before he became a demon of the god hand. If this were the case, it would make sense that the knight of skeleton looks the way he does because Gaisric may have died while wearing the berserk armor that possibly even killed him right before he became the first god hand member. Gaisric likely became a god hand member in the area of his kingdom's capital after sacrificing the people that were there which would explain all the skulls marked with the brand, making it the spot where his advent took place. Makes sense that Gaisric would fall back to his capital as he fought against the forces within his kingdom that rose up against him, then died durring battle in the berserk armor which he was wearing to be strong enough to stand against the forces that eventually overwhelmed him. Then as he lay there dying, he pledges all the people within his capital who were once his loyal subjects much like the band of the hawk was to Griffith, as his sacrifices to become the first demon king of the god hand. Gaisric or the knight of skeleton now makes his atonement for all the lives he sacrificed to fulfill his ambitions during his mortal life by fighting against the god hand but not being able to beat them alone, that's where Guts and his party comes in. The knight of skeleton constantly guides and helps Guts to become stronger so that eventually Guts and his party can fight along side the knight of skeleton against the god hand. So that's my theory on who the knight of skeleton is and why he goes around doing the things that he does. I know that some people wouldn't agree with this theory because if the knight of skeleton was a member of the god hand, Gut's brand would react to it which it doesn't. This would easily be remedied by simply the knight of skeleton no longer being a member of the god hand after making the decision to use his free will to oppose the idea of evil and the god hand, therefore he is no longer a demon or evil spirit because he fights for the good side. Guts's brand seems to only react around the god hand, apostles, demons and evil spirits but since the knight of skeleton or Giasric is no longer evil, Guts's brand has no reaction in his presence. Gaisric = Knight of Skeleton = former king and original member of the current group of the god hand. Apparently there were other groups of the god hand before the one they have now so I guess when I say Gaisric was the first and original king of the god hand, I mean the first of the current group of god hand members. After denouncing his kinghood of the god hand and severing his ties to it which in turn severed his ties to the idea of evil, he no longer exist as a demon or evil spirit but only as a powerful astral being. I think Gut's and Casca's brands only react in the presence of evil supernatural beings. So the knight of skeleton no longer being evil for likely a long time, probably since not long after deciding to become king of the god hand then realizing he made a huge mistake by doing so in which he would now exist to correct it, makes it so his presence does not effect people with the brand.
Skull knight was the fifth and final godhand chosen. He saw the same things as Griffin when he was evolving. But instead he rejected it and broke loose, attacking the 4 god hand and killing them, thus setting forward the new 5 and a reason for the skull knight to continue.
I would love to see an updated version of this video given what we learned in the last few chapters. The confirmation of previous godhand members and iirc confirmation that Skull Knight was Gaeseric
My theory Is that there are 2 berserker armors, Skull knight is wearing the one that is currently shaped into how he is now. I think Flora Bonded Skull Knight's body to the armor and that there can still be a being a inside, but a zombified being. Gaiseric could've gotten his powers in similar fashion to what Ganiska did but he wasn't a demon when becoming Skull Knight. I think Void played off of Skull Knight's Arrogance of using power from another word to get something he wanted being the imprisoned sage and he brought Slan with him. My Theory is Skull Knight killed the original 3 members of the Godhand when he got the Berserker armor when he was still Gaiseric and Slan was at a similar state to Casca, but turned on him for Void. And Skull Knight knew no better than anyone that Guts had been through the same things he been through except Skull Knight failed his mission and lost his Slan to the person he hated. I think Skull Knight is Gaiseric and his role with Void and Slan were switched were he was the leader and Void was the charismatic advisor who was jealous and Slan got tired of watching her king have bloodlust so she switched sides. It is a history repeat to me.
As for the branded skeletons at the bottom of the Tower of Conviction, I feel void sacrificed the kingdom he served under King Gaseric when he was being tortured; a kingdom Void himself certainly devoted his life and work to helping. Gaseric probably was already using the Berserker Armor before the first eclipse and was able to survive. I also believe Skull Knight is a branded one.
Skull knight represents self sacerfice. Unlike the process to to create an apostle which relies on the unwilling sacerfice of others, the berserk armor is fuled by the willing sacerfice of oneself. And above all else, this man is playing the long game.
Very good outlook , nailed it. Berserk was always above the egocentric ways of how people saw the world and truly wanted everyone to be equal and have some form of mutuality. He was one with nature. The way he would look at birds and life. While humanity was ignorantly bliss , living in the illusionary society's in place. Others sacrificed others well being to get control and power. But like you said , guts was in a sense on a higher road. Higher than that of even a God which was evil. He was pure and his dream was to just be. Berserk is the king of kings. One thing I found interesting is in that scene when they are trying to save Griffith and talking about 5 angels coming down, Judaea corrects them and says “I thought it was 4.” I’m wondering if They were looking for a 5th member, Gyseric made the sacrifice but only to turn on the God hand. I also wonder if the reason Gyseric was undefeated was because he was in the berserk armor.
I cant imagine skull knight ever being a godhand. Guts would never trust a godhand former or not. If anything i believe skullknight is like guts but he failed in his pursuit of the godhand. Like a master living through his student, Guts is his successor and he will succeed

His marriage with the Elf Queen can be theorized to be a traitorous relationship, mirrored with Griffith’s traitorous relationship with the King’s daughter after Guts left the Band of the Hawk. I always thought it was a perception of how they saw themselves. Guts being a Dog because he sees himself as loyal to Griffith at one point. Hence to the expression dogs at war. Skull knight travels to the the point in time where the events of Berserk takes place to stop Griffith/Femto into what Skull knight knows he becomes. This theory explains why Skull Knight shows up at very specific times out of the blue and knows where Guts is because hes done this before and/or has seen the events already take place. Not even alternate timeline but a cyclical. I think Skull Knight is Gizerik and represents Guts, the Sage is Void and represents Grifith. So in the past Gizerik hunted down Void. Or, it could be another God Hand who is dead now and Gizerik killed him.
I feel skull knight more like Griffith, in fact I suspect Skull Knight was the previous reincarnation of the egg of the perfect world. Miura told us that reincarnation happened one time every 1000 years, and then was exactly when the "demon king" Gaiseric conquered the whole world just like Griffith is doing now.

I noticed this too... also, in an interview with Miura, they asked him where he got the idea about the 216 years thing, and he said oh, it was just something he found out about solar eclipses that they occur (in europe?) every 216 years, and are apparently associated with witches, demons and black magic. Miura really does his research for a lot of elements in his manga, he's very world conscious and I wouldn't be surprised if he's been taking his time to include the world events at present seeing as we are in crazy times...much like Guts and co is....

Skull knight being geisric and having his beast of darkness be a skeleton actually really lines up I think. The untold thousands or millions that died with the fall of his empire probably haunts him, so much so that his guilt and rage manifested itself as a skeleton, a symbol of death amongst many cultures. His beast probably tortured him with the memory of all those who died because of him, telling him he's a harbinger of death, and all those around him are destined to die.

Regarding his appearence my guess is, that the skull knight while alive fought until, his body took so much damage, that he could no longer live without the armor binding his body together. This is not mere speculation. Schirke actually mentions this when we are introduced to the armors power. She mentions a person who fought until all of his blood spilled out of his body. My guess is that this warrior was him hundreds of years ago, and what we see now is basically him, in the armor, but no longer limited by his body since it probably rotted away in the armor hundreds of years ago. So he 's basically a magic armor with a dry skeleton inside and a soul.

My theory after reading the latest chapters is that Skull Knight managed to kill the former Godhand but Void. I remember a panel showing a different Godhand, and only Void was familiar.
Also about he being the King is kind of why many characters called him "his majesty". Perhaps someone with a Behelit betrayed him and became the first Godhand (Void?).

I think he probably was in a similar situation as Guts is now and he feels empathy for the man, sadly i think there is a small chance that Guts can end like him too.
With the recent chapter, I don't know what to say. I don't know how they will continue the story without Guts becoming Skull knight. Whatever they're gonna pull off, it's probably gonna be huge.
In my opinion I think SK is King Gaiseric, but I also think the legend/story of King Gaiseric has been Misconstrued by the people in berserk. There’s so many clues we just have to piece them together and create a different story or wait for Miura to finally tell Skull knight’s backstory.

I don't think that the Skull Knight will ever receive a backstory but will have more clues about him as the story goes. We never got at any point some clues from him himself about his backstory besides the Berserker armor, on the other hand, everything related to him is told by the others like Slan, Witch Lady of the forest and maybe Judeau so there's a big chance that not everything will be true or related about him.
I think that is he Gaiseric and that there are were 4 God Hand Members that were killed by Gaiseric when he wore the berserker armor who 'died' in the process, Void survived and now a new group of the God Hand has been formed and now SK and Guts can together destroy the God Hand ending the cycle forever.

I'm wondering if some "humans" are half "other". Take a close look at Guts ears then look at Flora's ears. Several other people in Berserk have pointed ears. And others have rounded human ears.
So Guts may be human +. Which explains why he's able to take the beating he does on a regular basis.

Alright, so here's what I think happened:
Skull Knight is King Gaiseric. He ruled his empire and at one point for some reason imprisoned a sage or preacher (I'll get to that) and had him tortured underneath his castle. That sage became Void by sacrificing the people who's branded skulls lie under the Tower of Rebirth and destroying the then capital of the empire in the process by accidentally summoning the Eclipse on top of it, causing the rest of Gaiseric's lands to fall into disarray and the empire to be broken up in the following power vacuum. This is what was later misconstrued as Gaiseric's divine punishment in the legend.
Who exactly the sacrifices were to Void I can't say for certain, but given that he has a very zealous air about him, I am speculating that in his previous life he might've been a preacher or philosopher who's views did not agree with Gaiseric's leadership and the sacrifices were his flock or students who were imprisoned with him (or came to save him if you want to go all out on the parallels to Griffith). This is part in particular is completely pulled out of thin air, but I personally find it quite plausible.
In a quest for revenge Gaiseric began hunting Apostles and those who were striving to become Apostles, forging the Beherit Sword from captured Beherits in the process, with the express goal of killing Void and later the emergent God Hand. At some point he interacted with Dwarves, who either gave the Berserker Armor to him or possibly created it at his request, and with the Elves, who used magic to allow him to exist partially in the Astral Plane despite still being a human at this point not unlike bearers of the Brand of Sacrifice or even traverse from one plane to another entirely as he does now (thought that may just be an ability of the Beherit Sword) so that he may battle Apostles and spirits more easily. Note that him existing in both planes seems to be distinct from the minor Interstice that Guts and Casca are stuck in, as Astral beings apparently do not automatically sense his presence as far as we know, though we can't say that with certainty. I believe that this is the source of the Elven aura which Puck sensed around him because the transition between planes is one of the Elves' most notable abilities and it would've been absolutely crucial for Gaiseric to effectively go up against supernatural beings of any kind.
Through his battles against the supernatural he slowly began to be consumed by the Berserker Armor, but when it killed him his essence or soul was still held halfway in between the Astral World and the Physical World and changed to resemble his inner demon, an armored skeleton.
Now at some point before or after his death, but most likely after receiving the Beherit Sword, Berserker Armor and the Elven enchantment, Gaiseric undergoes somewhat of a change in character, possibly due to being jaded from a life of Apostle hunting or maybe because his death to the Berserker Armor somehow separated him from his inner demon (which might actually be the purpose of the armor, but that's also completely unsupported by anything).
How he regained a corporeal form I again do not know (some options are possession, new body created by magic, old body reanimated by magic...), but he continued to fight apostles, eventually running into Flora (who may actually have helped him out with getting a physical body, Flora is really fucking old after all). The two become friends or at least allies and Gaiseric, who at least at this point probably only goes by Skull Knight, continues his Apostle hunting quest until present day. Foreseeing Griffith's betrayal and Gut's quest for revenge he warns Guts in a somewhat half-assed attempt to spare him the same suffering he went through. When shit hits the fan at the Eclipse he pulls Guts and Casca out of there in hopes of making Guts his ally in the battle against the God Hand and in the case of Casca already with plans to use her connection to Guts and Griffith as leverage.
He proceeds to appear to Guts in critical moments to either save him and people that will be important to his progress as a warrior or to push Guts in the right direction towards becoming stronger and succumbing to the Berserker Armor, leading him to become a vengeful spirit similar to Skull Knight who will be able to assist him in battle against the God Hand or take over where he left of should he die for good.
The one thing this theory (or rather series of theories) does not explain is how the hell he can see through time. I have absolutely no idea. It might be a side effect of existing between planes or he might've gotten it as separate feature similar to how he got the Berserker Armor from the Dwarves and the enchantment from the Elves, he might've just developed it over time as a powerful Astral being to counter the abilities of Apostles and the God Hand. Who knows?

Maybe SK/Gaiseric's ability to see through time originally came from the seer who became Void, it's possible that the seer taught Gaiseric how to do it. They both talk about causality more than any other character in the series and this could also help explain how they originally disagreed, became mortal enemies, and the empire collapsed. Maybe they both witnessed the future and had opposite beliefs on what they wanted to do in an effort to affect that timeline (or play into it).
I don’t remember it ever saying he died of the berserk armour. I don’t remember it saying he died ever. I remember it saying that he couldn’t bare the armour anymore so he got rid of it and had flora store it
I never understood the "SK was a former godhand" theories. There are big reasons as to why it just doesn't add up. He would still be considered "demonkind", which as we know Guts' brand reacts to demonkind, and it just doesnt towards SK.
Also on the subject of the Godhand and its origin, I believe that the godhand has existed since the beginning of humanity if we go based off of the Idea of Evil. Which people may say is "not canon" but nothing in the story, so far, has pointed to it not being canon, the Idea world exist and it still can be seen at the end of chapter 82. Seeing as how the IoE exist and has existed, its not crazy to say that the 4 angels in the story of King Gaiseric would be 4 previous members of the godhand. I think what happened to Gaiseric was similar to what happened or is happening to Guts. Void summons the godhand and sacrifices the kingdom to become a godhand member, Gaiseric survives and goes on a revenge quest, he dons the berserker armor with Flora and dies, Becomes SK due to some dwarf or elf magic and is now trying to make up for that failure by guiding Guts into not failing based on everything he has learned over his 1000 years.
I am close to agreeing with you, I think that SK did manage to destroy 4 God Hand members after he donned the Berserker Armor, however Void was too strong and he died against Void. Now however that he has found someone strong enough and skilled enough to help him (Guts) he is grooming Guts to help him go into battle with the full godhand, and the two of them together might just be strong enough to destroy the Godhand once and for all stopping apostles from being created again.
the reason for that theory is because he and Griffiths share many similarities. When Gaiseric had the old armor its similar to how Griffith has the hawk armor now, and they both conquered midland and have their own kingdom. Also, Gaiseric's armor has the eclipse emblem. Same emblem is all over Griffith's Falconia castle. Also, when his kingdom fell it was said that four angels got destroyed his kingdom. Four Godhands came for Griffith, meaning that Gaiseric could have been the previous godhand to be reborn in the real world and killed off or betrayed and that was 1000 years ago which runs into the egg of the king showing up every 1000 to 1200 years and popped up for Griffith to be the Fifth again only to repeat the same thing Gaiseric went through.

What I Admire about Skulls Knight is his endless and unwavering courage. The man has been fighting the god hand for a thousand years all by himself. Or maybe not alone because the Elfin Queen spirit is within him giving him his abilities. He did his best to save his queen when Void sacrifice him and her but lost her when he himself fell to the berserk armor’s power while fighting desperately to the bitter end to protect his queen from the apostles just as Guts was going to do for Casca when both got branded. Skull knight is the only being that can strike fear to the god hand so far maybe Guts will in the future too. If god hand drop their guard Skull knight will take everything from them especially you Void that is why Skull Knight is a total badass and MVP.

I personally believe that Skull Knight is on Skellig to attack the moonlight child. He knows that Griffith is only vulnerable when he the child and decides that is the only chance to kill him. I believe this will bring him into conflict with both Guts and Casca, what happens after that I don't know.

Ah yes Skull Knight, probably one of the most influenced character outside his own series. With King Hassan / The First Hassan being heavily based on him, as well as from the numerous characters from the Souls series.
Apart from Raoh and Golgo 13, he probably has the coolest mount or horse in anime history. Imagine a horse that can jump through tall trees, move beyond the speed of sound, and other cool shit.

I currently assume that Skull Knight and Void are both two parts of the Human that Once was Gaizeric. The first Eclipse tore the Evil in the King from his more Noble Warrior Side.

I've always thought that the Skull Knight was Miura's self insert or deux ex machinia. It seems like he's played directly as the Yoda of Berserk, and compared to all the other characters is rather unique in that.
IDK I don't think that Miura would just make a character as a Deus ex. I think that while SK does have a lot of Deus ex moments (Berserker armor and saving Guts and Casca from the Eclipse) the Gaeseric backstory and the relationship with flora imply that there is a lot more to his character than simply being there to save Guts

Im new to your channel and I've got to say that i really like the content you make so far, it's fulfilling because my friends aren't into Berserk so i don't talk to them about it, hearing a different perspective is awesome. One suggestion i would make is that on top of the manga panels, you could also add Berserk gameplay (if you have the game, that is) alongside your videos, it would add a dope aesthetic, that's all. Keep making these videos man, they're really cool :D

Great video. I don't know about him "seeing the flow of time" though. The ritual to appoint a new God Hand member occurs every 216 years, so he probably knew one was due. That's not seeing the future, that's just keeping track of the date. He does have some semblance of understanding regarding causality, however. I remember at one point he claimed "it is foretold I shall strike down Void... shall it be here?" or something to that effect.
I think theory number 4 is the most likely. He was emperor Gaiseric, and Void was the sage who became the first God Hand by sacrificing the entire kingdom (explaining the corpses at the bottom of the tower marked with the Brand of the Sacrifice). The only confusing part is wherein the legend states 4/5 angels descended to destroy the kingdom. The theory of their being a previous "generation" of God Hand members that are succeeded/usurped every thousand years is an interesting one.
I agree with your theory that the Skull Knight is merely a possessed suit of armour, a la Alfonse Elric. In the panel in which he swallows Rosine's behelit, the manga panel gives the common Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of something rattling inside a hollow tin (usually used when chucking something into a garbage can, as I understand it). I'm 99% positive Skull Knight is a hollow suit, animated through the magical bondage of his soul to the armour.
I read Skull Knight's voice in Dormin's voice from Shadow of the Colossus.
Watching your videos has made me realize I really need to catch up on Berserk. I did kind of think Skull Knight might have been a time travelling Guts, a distant ancestor of Guts or Gaiseric. I really hope this story gets to be completed
My theory is that skull knight was a "old Guts" a Guts before his time, a past reincarnation perhaps. And just like how guts is thriving to kill Griffith (or Femto) skull knight thrived to kill Void, as we all know that the reoccurrence of time is popular in the berserk manga, it is not entirely impossible that skull knight and void were like guts and femto centuries ago. This would explain skull knight letting guts take the berserker armor, for skull knight knows as well as anyone, what guts is going through and skull knight sees something in guts... something in guts that may surpass skull knight himself, and that's also probably why he (or it) let guts take such a dangerous, yet powerful item.
Also the old lady who lived in the fairy realm (I forgot her name, excuse me) was like how Schrieke is to guts now but to skull knight back in the day, and she would explain how skull knight is still animate moving around and stuff, That or the berserker armor killed skull knight and now skull knight's vengeful spirit driven by malice is so powerful that it keeps him going to defeat the god hand, and we all know how gut's malice contributes to his power too, so maybe it's the physical form if skull knight's powerful "idea" to destroy the god hand and save mankind. What I'm saying is, like guts and Griffith, skull knight and void were once allies or friends but then void betrayed him like how Griffith did to guts. And this ties in to if skull knight was that king guy, and would explain the ammount of dead bodies branded with the brand of sacrifice all over his old kingdom, because maybe Void when he was still alive used the ritual to sacrifice hundreds of people in order to become a godlike figure, as of how this would work is unknown, and how he found out about it the first place.... Or maybe Void was the first to create it? And void's "idea" of it working was so powerful, the ritual got willed into existence, this would also explain his name "void" because the "realm of idea" id better know as "the void" in berserk, and that just ties in with his name cus his "idea" was so powerful. This may be why skull knight wants revenge on void too, since maybe void was the one who started all that hell with the god hand and etc. And became a threat to humanity, so skull knight now has too kill his old ally (or friend) "

Void can also manipulate time and space to deflect attacks, so Void probably refers to that ability as well. Maybe he is responsible for bringing the Idea of Evil (also something of a void or abyss as it called itself) into effect since he was a sage after all....maybe a kind of warlock or black magic user...orrr....devout heretic? Hence why he was tortured??
I keep wondering how Miura is gonna continue this or end this. Femto and the others are way too powerful...I think the only way for Guts or SK to defeat the Godhand is to manipulate the Idea of Evil. It claims to Griffith that it's only carrying out what the souls of humanity cry for...whether or not it actually intends for evil things to occur i'm not so sure, even if it's in the damn name. But maybe it's possible to change it into an idea of good? Maybe there IS a pole opposite of the evil (without good there's not evil) but we haven't been shown it yet. There is a thing called Primary Source and Primary Anomaly and I really feel like that's what Miura has reflected here. Otherwise, this Idea of Evil thing planned for Guts survival and is actually intentionally prepping Guts to take down Femto and the Godhand...and that griffith was lied to - it's not about him and his grandeur....it's about how he's there solely for guts to defeat him. Ha!

Here's my theory. Skull knight is Guts but from the future, or from an alternative version of the future where Guts may have lost his physical body. The Skull knight armour is the Berserk armour but changed.

It’s been revealed that there were 5 godhand before the ones we know, when Skullknight was in the Eclipse we can see the 5 godhand, but none of them are the same as the ones we know except for Void. So my theory is that Gaeseric/Skullknight killed 4 members of the Godhand, but lost to Void and was killed, and then over a millennia one by one the godhand was replaced which also explains why Void is the “leader” of the godhand. This was all revealed by the dwarf on Skellig Island who unlocked the memory within the Berserker armour for Guts to see, which means he must have been wearing the armour when the eclipse occurred.
Because we also see his beloved die on his arms with a Brand of Sacrifice, it’s theorised that Skullknight opened the eclipse for some reason, maybe to gain more power? As according to the legend of Gaeseric he was an oppressive King.
So everything we know of Skull Knight's past
He is most likely Emperor Gaiseric
He wore the Berserker Armor that Guts is wearing now
He seems to have had a Romantic Relationship with a former Queen of the Elves of Elfhelm (and by extension has a history with Elfhelm itself)
He is friends with Schierke's Mistress Flora
Has a clear rivalry with Nosferatu Zodd
And has an implied history with Void (more like Void is to Skull Knight as Griffith is to Guts)
Stating all that the picture seems to be getting more clear

I am sure we will find out much more in the next chapter. That cliffhanger in the last chapter teased an interesting and long overdue conversation between SK and Guts. The only problem now is, Miura is inconsistency in person when it comes to releasing chapters. So who knews when it finally comes out.
An interesting video on theories about this character. My theory is that the knight of skeleton is the man that used to be supreme king Gaisric which I am pretty sure at this point. That's why Slan referred to him as your majesty at one point. That along with the skull helmet which king Gaisric always wore in battle that resembles the head of the knight of skeleton which also looks like it has a crown indicates that it is Gaisric. Another part of my theory is that Gaisric was actually one of the god hand members, possibly the 1st. Arc 3 of the movie series shows that the capital of king Gaisric's kingdom was at the bottom of the dungeon's pit in where Griffith was being held and there were a huge amount of corpses all branded with the brand of sacrifice. It takes a huge number of sacrifices for one of the holders of a crimson behelit to become a demon of the god hand which is exactly what we see at the bottom of that pit. It would make sense that the knight of skeleton is actually the first original member of the god hand which is why he is powerful enough to stand toe to toe with the other god hand members.
I think that Gaisric, like Griffith was given a crimson behelit and destined to have his own kingdom and they both shared similar fates in once their ambitions crumble after reaching the top, they sacrificed their own flesh and blood along with a huge sacrifice of the lives of other people to become a god hand member. Gaisric lived around 1000 years ago or more from the current timeline according to the story and every 216 years, a new god hand member is chosen. Since there are now 5 members including Griffith, that means 1080 years have had to pass for there to be these 5 members and that means Gaisric was around before the first of the current god hand members came into existence. This leads me to believe that Gaisric was actually the first chosen member of the god hand and the original king of the god hand members which may be another reason why Slan referred to him as your majesty.
After becoming the knight of skeleton or the first god hand member, Gaisric learning what fate that the idea of evil had in store to steer the destiny of the universe and what roll he had to play in all of it, decided to go against that fate. He likely did not like the idea that his entire existence was being steered by an outside force and felt that humanity and the rest of the universe should be able to decide its own fate, which Gaisric was denied being that his fate was being directed by this outside force called the idea of evil much like Griffith's was. That is why he seems to be fighting on the side of humanity and at times goes out of his way to help humans in several life and death situations. It's like he is atoning for his past sins by being the opposition of the god hand and the ill fate that they are directing the universe towards. As Judo said, Gaisric became drunk with power at one point which may have likely lead his kingdom to turn against him and to hold on to that power, he gave into the idea of becoming the first god hand member because of the promise of more power. As they say, what do men with power want? More power. Either that or to get more power to hold onto his kingdom, he had the berserk armor made by the dwarves that eventually killed him, which at the point of his death with his body torn apart much like Griffith's situation, he sacrificed his kingdom which had turned against him to become a god hand member. I think that Griffith is actually his replacement as the king of the current god hand members, hence why they call Griffith the king of longing. It also seems like members of the god hand possibly take up a form that resembles what state they were in right before they had died which is why Griffith or Femto's head looks like the helmet Griffith was wearing right before he became a demon of the god hand. If this were the case, it would make sense that the knight of skeleton looks the way he does because Gaisric may have died while wearing the berserk armor that possibly even killed him right before he became the first god hand member. Gaisric likely became a god hand member in the area of his kingdom's capital after sacrificing the people that were there which would explain all the skulls marked with the brand, making it the spot where his advent took place. Makes sense that Gaisric would fall back to his capital as he fought against the forces within his kingdom that rose up against him, then died durring battle in the berserk armor which he was wearing to be strong enough to stand against the forces that eventually overwhelmed him. Then as he lay there dying, he pledges all the people within his capital who were once his loyal subjects much like the band of the hawk was to Griffith, as his sacrifices to become the first demon king of the god hand.
Gaisric or the knight of skeleton now makes his atonement for all the lives he sacrificed to fulfill his ambitions during his mortal life by fighting against the god hand but not being able to beat them alone, that's where Guts and his party comes in. The knight of skeleton constantly guides and helps Guts to become stronger so that eventually Guts and his party can fight along side the knight of skeleton against the god hand. So that's my theory on who the knight of skeleton is and why he goes around doing the things that he does. I know that some people wouldn't agree with this theory because if the knight of skeleton was a member of the god hand, Gut's brand would react to it which it doesn't. This would easily be remedied by simply the knight of skeleton no longer being a member of the god hand after making the decision to use his free will to oppose the idea of evil and the god hand, therefore he is no longer a demon or evil spirit because he fights for the good side. Guts's brand seems to only react around the god hand, apostles, demons and evil spirits but since the knight of skeleton or Giasric is no longer evil, Guts's brand has no reaction in his presence. Gaisric = Knight of Skeleton = former king and original member of the current group of the god hand. Apparently there were other groups of the god hand before the one they have now so I guess when I say Gaisric was the first and original king of the god hand, I mean the first of the current group of god hand members. After denouncing his kinghood of the god hand and severing his ties to it which in turn severed his ties to the idea of evil, he no longer exist as a demon or evil spirit but only as a powerful astral being. I think Gut's and Casca's brands only react in the presence of evil supernatural beings. So the knight of skeleton no longer being evil for likely a long time, probably since not long after deciding to become king of the god hand then realizing he made a huge mistake by doing so in which he would now exist to correct it, makes it so his presence does not effect people with the brand.
Skull knight was the fifth and final godhand chosen. He saw the same things as Griffin when he was evolving. But instead he rejected it and broke loose, attacking the 4 god hand and killing them, thus setting forward the new 5 and a reason for the skull knight to continue.

My theory Is that there are 2 berserker armors, Skull knight is wearing the one that is currently shaped into how he is now. I think Flora Bonded Skull Knight's body to the armor and that there can still be a being a inside, but a zombified being. Gaiseric could've gotten his powers in similar fashion to what Ganiska did but he wasn't a demon when becoming Skull Knight. I think Void played off of Skull Knight's Arrogance of using power from another word to get something he wanted being the imprisoned sage and he brought Slan with him. My Theory is Skull Knight killed the original 3 members of the Godhand when he got the Berserker armor when he was still Gaiseric and Slan was at a similar state to Casca, but turned on him for Void. And Skull Knight knew no better than anyone that Guts had been through the same things he been through except Skull Knight failed his mission and lost his Slan to the person he hated. I think Skull Knight is Gaiseric and his role with Void and Slan were switched were he was the leader and Void was the charismatic advisor who was jealous and Slan got tired of watching her king have bloodlust so she switched sides. It is a history repeat to me.

I feel void sacrificed the kingdom he served under King Gaseric when he was being tortured; a kingdom Void himself certainly devoted his life and work to helping. Gaseric probably was already using the Berserker Armor before the first eclipse and was able to survive. I also believe Skull Knight is a branded one.
Skull knight represents self sacerfice. Unlike the process to to create an apostle which relies on the unwilling sacerfice of others, the berserk armor is fuled by the willing sacerfice of oneself. And above all else, this man is playing the long game.
Very good outlook , nailed it. Berserk was always above the egocentric ways of how people saw the world and truly wanted everyone to be equal and have some form of mutuality. He was one with nature. The way he would look at birds and life. While humanity was ignorantly bliss , living in the illusionary society's in place. Others sacrificed others well being to get control and power. But like you said , guts was in a sense on a higher road. Higher than that of even a God which was evil. He was pure and his dream was to just be. Berserk is the king of kings. He is the one , which the matrix tries to control. He creates the disruptions, he is like he said once before , a mere omen to reality. Because he sees beyond the mirage of constructs of mindfulness. He is a being with an eternal flame at heart , which even god/lord cannot quench with the divine waters above. I think skull knight is praised by even the apostles of the god hands. A man which turned into something much more than just a man and a god....He is the chaos. He has no order because no order can enslave him. He finds peice within the chaotic nature of realities roots and source of creation.

His marriage with the Elf Queen can be theorized to be a traitorous relationship, mirrored with Griffith’s traitorous relationship with the King’s daughter after Guts left the Band of the Hawk. in my opinion, I believe that the behelit guts carried will be used when the berserker armor finally reeks havoc on his body and leaves him dead forcing his hand to use it.
