You have a keen eye for unique cars, Steve. The Marcos and the TVRs you picked up are under-the-radar marques that that can picked up for a good price yet offer a great deal of enjoyment without being difficult to work on.
Here's hoping you pick up an Alpine A110 and a Jensen Interceptor to add to your stable.

101bhp on the dyno sounds like that V6 has been strangled by US emissions. In the UK they were closer to 150bhp with way more torque. The 2.8 litre cologne engine was closer to 160bhp.

That makes sense. Mind you with the power to weight ratio, it will still be pretty rapid. As a family we used to have Jem Marshes ex demo car which was a 3ltr V6. That thing just flew.

I owned a bright red 3 ltr V6 Marcos for a few years in the 1980's in the UK. It was a fantastic head turner and I found the 'laying down' seat position to be very comfortable. My model was a 1969 timber chassis one. On one occasion, on a virtually empty motorway I decided to see how fast it would go. With my brother videoing in the passenger seat I was brave (or stupid) enough to get it to 125 MPH which felt much faster. Towards the upper part of that speed I found the steering becoming lighter and lighter until I realised the front wheels were no longer in contact with the road and I could move the steering wheel either way with no change in direction. This scared the crap out of me. This was due to the aerodynamic shape of the front of the car despite my car having an air dam. I sold the car a year or so later when I moved back to New Zealand. Registration number YLD 6G I wonder where you are today?

I have just checked the DVLA register and it appears to have been on the road up until the road tax expired in January 1997.
It does not currently have an MOT so either it has reached the end of its life or hopefully someone is restoring it!

@@noizyneighbour5790 Wow. Thanks for that information. May I ask what town or area this was in? I sold the car in Crawley Sussex about 30 years ago.

@@susansinclair4914 I'm sorry but that is all the information they give you.
Make, model, colour, and then it's current tax and MOT status.
Maybe an email to the UK Marcos Owners Club would yield a bit more information?
I can't imagine a wood chassis model being left to rot.

Steve, did anyone know what the Marcos was. You sure like the rare European cars. Did you see Jay Leno's feature a while back? Very sound investment. It's MAR KOSS not marcose.Steve, in 1962/3 my parents did bed and breakfast and we had someone stay with us for a week. We got to know him pretty well and he told us he was getting ready to market his new car. Think you may guess who he was and the pictures of the new car he showed us! Back then it looked like something from outer space it was so cool!

Do you not struggle for parts and such? Marcos vehicles were in limited supply, can't imagine it's cheap to repair.
