MTB racing as a 5 year old!

We took Harley along to the Crickley Flyers British Cycling Go Race event at FlyUp 417 bike park... and this was how the weekend went!
We started out on Saturday with a few practice runs in the afternoon... before quickly being distracted by some awesome jumps around the bike park we went back to doing one last practice on the race course (Blue Raccoon) before we headed off to Rampworld Cardiff for a BMX session... who thought that was a good idea?!?
With a super late night of super fun BMX freestyle we headed to bed... and then felt like the alarms went off immediately to get back to FlyUp 417!!! The traffic was kind to us and we got there far earlier than we expected... and Harley went back to sleep for almost the whole journey.
Race day: we decided to give it a shot following Harleys friends Jack, Seb, Finley and Dougie... but apparently they all had weetabix for breakfast and took off like a pack of rockets. Undeterred Harley gave it his best shot to try keep up... he pedalled his hardest and pulled out some impressive run times for himself!!!
In the actual race Harley set his fastest ever time down the Blue Racoon course, he did a 2:01!! As soon as the first race was done he disappeared off to the pump track with his friend Elliot and did 716 laps on his full sus MTB before begging me to get his freestyle BMX out of the van so he could try 360's and show his friends!! Another 716225 laps of the Pumptrack later and all of a sudden it was time for the second race.... and he only went fractionally slower in this race, which was impressive given the amount of pump track laps he did just before the race 🤣
8th place... out of 14 riders in the under 9 category... as a 5 year old. Proud of you son!!
Bring on the next race; we'll probs be doing just as much non MTB specific practice leading up to this one too... enjoy the ride... we focus on riding skills and general fitness... because results just don't matter when you're 5 years old 🥹

I love the editing on your TH-cam videos! Watching Harley’s progress in mountain bike racing and motox and bmx its awesome, and the way you put everything together really makes it fun to follow. I also enjoy seeing Billy, Dad, and Ro Mom’s involvement - it adds a nice touch to the videos. Hope your channel keeps growing and growing, you’re doing a great job!
